I'm up now I see. Looks like it might be a good idea to follow Brian's path and grab the other treasure to the right of Brian's in column 9and exit to the right of Brian's path by one spot to keep the rest of the map open for the remaining players. Sound good?

Okay this is the path I thinking of choosing. Someone double check it

7 N,N,N, NE,N,NW,N,NE,N (pause to see if I get there safely),S,S,SE (get treasure),NW,N,N(out)

I think that path looks good. There is one extra spot you step on after you've paused to check for safety, but it is before you grab the treasure so it is fine.

I'm going to do my path as posted. I think I follow Brian's path pretty closely, and I'm rushed for time right now anyway.

Bolded the part I don't like. Why not go NW NE E?

Can we just repeat a path over and over again and "use it" until we run out of accessable exits through that one route? For example, if we know BrianD's path is clear and we can reach two other exit points with a square or two to the left or right of BrianD's path, why don't we do that?

Here are the results of Thomkal's moves sent to me via PM. Unfortunately, Thomkal has hit a mine and his turn is over.

For both guys above me...remember that the treasure I picked up is now gone. Thomkal needs to pick up a new treasure. He could take a few extra steps to use more of my path, but he still needs to go off far enough to get the treasure.

I don't know if this question is addressed to me or the group. If it is to me, you may reuse a path as many times as you'd like. Exit squares are the only things that can't be reused (though you may still move through them, you just can't exit from them).

And here I was, thinking, "I'm sure it will be fine -- I mean, what are the odds that the ONE square that he deviates from Brian's path could be a hidden mine?" MJ4H must have been laughing his ass off at that one!

ugh. sorry guys, I knew it wasn't exactly the path Pass suggested, but I thought the odds were highly in our favor that we wouldn't hit a hidden mine

I apologize, but I've lost focus on this mission. Should I be plotting out a viable escape route, presumably one off from Brian's and then going back for treasure? Is that where we're at?

I'd say either that, or clear the way to the two treasures on the left, and see if you can find an escape route there.

OK here's my official move, to date:

1, N, N, NE, NW, N, N, N, N, NE, N

That gives me a long route to one treasure and a short route to another one.

I would like to clarify one point on your move series. You realize when you put the 1 that places you in the field? Then the 2 Ns put you on the third row? I just need to know if after the 2 Ns you expect to be on row 2 or row 3. I ask because you have included enough northward movement to completely exit the field and I don't think that is your intention.

I lost a treasure. But I think we can only take one out per person anyway, so that good news doesn't matter much.

I'm here. Any tips on where I should go? I'll take advice on how I should play this. I'd like to make it to the end first, then go back for treasure (like our successful person did).

My suggestion is to get the treasure on the right, that Brian cleared a path to, then follow his path, not deviating until the very end, in order to exit a different square.

7 N N N NE N NW NW N to follow Brian's path

NW to make sure there's no hidden mine in the one spot that you have to deviate from this path

SE S SE SE NE to get the treasure

SW NW NW N NW N to leave back the way you came.

So my suggestion combined is:

7 N N N NE N NW NW N NW SE S SE SE NE SW NW NW N NW N

Here are the results of kingnebwsu's moves:

A $10,000 treasure was picked up in the green square. The treasure was successfully brought out of the minefield, so $10,000 has been added to the group pot!

The total pot at this point is $55,000. Well done group. One more player to go through the field and we will move on to Mission #4 (considerably less complex, so it should go quick). Then we have a quiz and our second execution.

Passacaglia is now up.

Human Minesweeper secrets revealed:

Below is the complete map of the minefield:

The circles with slashes are the hidden mines.
The E in the middle is an exemption.
The 25k treasure is in the extreme NE corner.

You could have obtained a complete map by combining all of
the filenames for each piece you were given into one big
filename.

ie: ciuhcvreojavduvpvsviexrgwejnicaxczdf.jpg

The locations of the five hidden mines and 25k treasure were
also encoded in the human minesweeper video. Before
"WORK TOGETHER" appears in the video, there is a series of
numbers.

2144610258410610209857723-55

This is a mash-up of 6 fibonacci numbers.
2, 144, 610, 2584, and 10610209857723. 55, too.

These are the 3rd, 12th, 15th, 18th, and 64th numbers in the
fibonacci sequence (and 55 is the 10th). This corresponds
to where the mines are in the minefield, counting left to
right and top to bottom (and the treasure is in square 10).

Admittedly a tough one to crack, but it is there.

You can see a list of fibonacci numbers here:
PlanetMath: list of Fibonacci numbers

The 2 subtle hints might have pointed you towards these
complete maps, if you had bought them for $1,000 each:

Hint 1: Get your priorities straight: know the hidden items'
location comes before work together.

Hint 2: You were given more than just a piece of the map.

So the pot stands at $55,000 after 3 missions. Not bad at all. Of course, don't think too hard about the fact that $140,000 was possible.

Mission #4 - Anagramazing

Each player is going to be sent two series of letters along with
the name of one of the other players in the game for each series.

For example, you might receive:

ABCDE - samifan24
FGHI - Passacaglia

This would mean that your letters "ABCDE" can be combined with
one of the series sent to samifan24 to make a longer series.
Each longer series can be anagrammed (rearranged) to form a word.

There will be 7 words total. When each of these words is
discovered, they may be reordered to form a coherent sentence.

Each of the 7 words that is discovered is worth $1,000.
If the full sentence is discovered, it will be worth $23,000,
making this challenge worth a possible total of $30,000.

You will have 72 hours (3 days, even) to present the 7 words and resulting sentence in this thread to win the money. Your time starts when I have finished sending the final PM. I will post in this thread to alert you to that time.

Good luck!
