I don't see any in game statistic that would affect leadership -- EF's comment says that Social affects votes, doesn't say anything about leading. And all I did was voice my thought about leadership, certainly others will have other people they suggest and recommend and vote for. make your case if you want me to vote you. |

Several people have mentoined the idea that them getting to be a leader would bring some sort of benefit. Is that the case for Leader leader, or any type of leader? I would love to know if there's an in-game reason to pick anyone for the Leader position. For the others, I imagine it's just all Skill.

I personally will probably vote for a Leader who is not pushing to be one. I think that's the one position where secret agendas could be dangerous. We need to all pay attention to people who are strongly for one thing or another.

wanted to getmy vote in just in case I am tied up tomorrow at work.
Thoughts as follows.. I think a leader needs to put people into good roles and let them fulfill their abilities. Dangarion has lead successful people and could be a great leader for the new colony. I think my life as a scientist on earth gives me a slight edge over Raven who was a farmer. As to day to day tasks I think Raven and I could make a great scientific foundation. Grover lived in space so his engineering input can be invaluable. Shoveler enforced justice and will be able to rule with an iron fist if need be. I chose Chief as doctor as I imagine any medical needs on Mars may be from a ER type perspective. i.e. catastrophic events that need quick thinking. I think a quick goverment setup and then getting into the next task at hand is the most prudent way to start a colony. No rules and chaos starts. I'd like to hear from Chief regarding being the docter and also want to know more about Thomkaland leading. I see people's fears about a military state but I can assure you that a marine base on mars is not the goal, lol.

To be fair I am sure the reason you started the game wanting to be the doctor is the same I want to be the leader. I will gain a benefit that will help the team if I become the leader and I think that is a better reason than voting for JAG who may get a benefit from becoming the sheriff. |

Social is the one trait that may affect leadership. I.e. can the leader get everyone together and on the same page to lead for the colony's overall good. I would think a person with business acumen would be preferred over a military career where social is not the thing. Thoughts?

I can see the open ended title for sure... My career was studying science so I would say I have a great base of knowledge across the entire field of study. Raven could be better if we choose as a colony to focus on the biodome early on. If there are other science items that arise I could have the better dice rolls I imagine.

I was leaning towards chief due to ER experience... I am intrigued by your mention of "less than hospitable conditions..." Please tell more. Or, we should make a mental note of this for future discussion if conditions should worsen.

If you follow me I will make sure all your comments are heard throughout the process of colonizing Mars. In my past I've been known to be accepting of all people that have crossed my path and I'm known for being well liked by those that follow me. I believe in a democratic society where all can have a say in how we colonize.
Vote for me or not, I will assist in any way possible in whatever duty I'm given. |

I see. So more of a jack of all trades but a master of nothing. Thanks for the clarification. I'm not trying to pick on you, but so far it's you vs me for science and I've made my background and intentions clear, so I wanted you to clarify. I plan on doing the same for the other roles as well. |

missed this. I don't think it's a huge problem if someone thinks they could fit more than one position. That being said, I think Grover would make a better engineer than myself so if I had to choose, then leader. |

yeah JAG is kind of a go-to guy tho. I seem to recall he was one of the main officers in chaos spawn? if this were chaos, i'd suspect he would be a target for something. I'd rather not put him or us in that position this time. I know I"m getting ahead of myself but he is frequently put in charge and people know that. |

Look at that
As you colony ship nears Mars you are struck by the beauty. This is going to be the greatest adventure of you lives, you can't help but think. Then the dread sets in. What happened to the first colony. They must have crashed. Was it human error or a problem with the ship? They had to fix it for this mission if it was the ship? What was that creeking sound? Don't let it get in your head. The ship is fine. Did anyone else see that? Was there movement on the surface? Get these thoughts out of your head, you are too far away to see movement. It was your mind playing tricks on you. You just can't stop hearing the screams from the first attempted colony. They haunt you as you near the planet. Just hours away and still a lot to decide. How much can you trust these people? You swear that you have seen some of them before. Maybe your memory will come back to you, or maybe you are just getting paranoid. Maybe you can radio back when no one is around to find out information. You need to trust, but how much trust can you give people that you know do little about. |

His early push for government against the then group goal of a biodome felt excessive, like he was going more for his own goals than the goals of the colony.
Leader - fontisian Scientist - Raven Engineer - Grover Sheriff - britrock88 Doctor - Chief Rum Project - Government

I'm kind of thinking anyone that wants government over surviving the first day has a secret reason :/ haha. I mean we can ORGANIZE without having government yet. We can vote for these positions without having government right? What IS a government "Project"? Does it just give bonuses to people on the "board"? we don't know that. But that's why I don't understand why gov comes first. |

I mean, the fact that it's good for me is a major reason that I want it over scientific research, but both options will probably improve efficiency and be good in the long run.

Just to add why I voted the way I did.
First and foremost I'm confident in my leadership ability so wouldn't vote for anyone other than me. Grover already being an ISS engineer was an automatic for me. Thomkal knows how to run military, and although the law is a bit different than military I think having a strong group of people that will protect us doing the other duties will benefit us all in the long run. Chief Rum seems to have the best experience actually dealing with trauma so I think he fits best making sure we can all heal up and survive in the harsh environmental reality we are about to face. Timmae's reasoning of leading the science team but working with Raven seemed to make the most sense with such a small number of us that have shown any science background. I didn't factor in what project any of these people want to do first because I think we need the best possible people in the positions first for us to get any real work done. |
