Fair enough. Especially if they're gonna be in the playoffs. No real pain in hurting them either way.

But there is also no upside for them.

Proctor out for a 3rd inning. At some point you have to score against the guy.

That's sad... a cut it for a "listen to that reaction" shot but the crowd is so sparse that it really isn't much.

and I called it. the first loss in 78 tries with a lead after 8.

Unfreakingbelieveable.

One strike away from Rays loss, BOOM.
One strike away from Red Sox win, Boom

What can you do?

I'm glad I'm too old to be too depressed by this stuff (the good decade of the 00's in Boston sports helps a lot too. )

But damn. What a bunch of losers.

Oh ya, and I love baseball. What a great night.

Congrats to the Rays and their fans here. At least we can still root against the MFY in the playoffs.

Short-term memory here, but these three games have to combine to be one of the most frantic and fun 30-minute period of sports watching that I can ever remember.

On the basis of fan base it would have been much better with the Sox in the playoffs.

Meh. Boston doesn't DESERVE another title. Especially not after backing into it like they would've tonight.

"Wild Card Winner" shirts and hats are pretty tacky IMO. They should make "we're number 2" foam fingers.

Bah, I only care about the Phillies. Every other fanbase can eat shit and die.

Still, extremely fun night of sports watching. Kudos to MLB for the recent plan or lucky coincidence to schedule the last day of it's regular season in the middle of the week so as not to compete with football.
