As I understand it, each app is considered it's own unique thing, even if they're often customized from basic boilerplate code.

It's one of the things that makes them effective in terms of exposure, you're pretty much guaranteed that first view even if everyone hides it afterward. Still a decent chunk of marketing that's judged on the delivery of raw impressions, so it's a reasonable ploy on their part.

Jon, if you're reading this, I really didn't intend for my comment to end up this way.

I really didn't.

For once.

I believe you.

I'm not going to lunch with you without a chaperone ... but I believe you.

You'd probably love The Varsity , if you ever find yourself in Athens, GA just let me know. It's not the ATL version but it's certainly close enough for acceptable naked steaks sideways, bags of rags or Ring One and Strings. Throw in a couple of Squirt Ones & we're good to go.

Excellent! I will keep this in mind. My wife is willing to chaperone. She's much more sane than I am, and she's a college professor, so she's used to dealing with rowdy folks who never learned to grow up. She could keep everything in line. Just don't bring any shiny objects, as they are known to distract me.

The Varsity Stop on the MARTA is pretty darn cool

I need to tattoo this on my head. I get soooo many texts or calls from friends who won't google something but want to ask me how to find it. It's flattering that they think I know all of the answers, but WTF.

Let me google that for you

The original one on North Avenue across the bridge from Georgia Tech's campus, right?! Who let that expand into Athens anyway, damn.

And yes I know I could just hide the users, that isn't a good option in this case.

Frustrating.

I pretty much hide the apps for awhile, but after the same person spams me multiple times by signing up for a bunch of shit, they go into the FU hide box.

The Athens one has been in operation since 1932, just four years less than the original. Varsity Jr on Lindbergh didn't open as the 3rd location until 1965.

The new-fangled ones in Kennesaw, Gwinnett, etc on the other hand, now THOSE bother me.

I am always confused by the commercials for the HeatSurge. It says real Amish wood frames, including a video of the "real Amish workers". Do they know they are on camera?

As well as realizing an electric contraption is going to be placed in their frames?

I'm not so sure why everybody is making a big deal of how big the new Starbucks "Trenta" size is. It's smaller than a Super Big Gulp or Double Gulp, and when those are full of Coca-Cola, they probably have the same/more amount of calories (and caffeine) as the chilled drinks Starbucks puts in the Trenta. Also, Starbucks overloads on ice, so even if it's 31 ounces or whatever, you don't get quite that much volume.

I haven't seen anything with a good pre-order bonus so I'm holding off for now. But I did the pre-order thing for Club Nintendo for Black so I'm going to make sure to get it. Heck, 2 of the last 3 Pokemon I think I've gotten at Target because they always had a good supply and were quick. I'm sure someone will do a little cost bonus- gift card or something- as we get closer. Probably going to be something like KMart or TRU as they've both been coming hard with gaming bonuses of late.

I hate their sites, they are super slow to load; I almost never click-through unless the article looks REALLY interesting.

Time to make it harder if he isn't reading these already:
Pokémon Black & White - Version Changes - Area Changes
Pokémon Black & White - Version Exclusive Pokémon

Basically, beyond the legendary difference, White has a forest area where you can catch more Pokemon while Black has a city area with some trainers and items to buy.

This is the first I've heard about it, so I can't attest to the 'big deal' about it. Can you only get cold drinks in it or something? And can't you just ask for it with half as much ice? Depending on what you're ordering, they'd probably just fill the rest with milk, so it's not more caffeine, but probably won't taste as watery. I hate ice -- I always order soft drinks without it, and I don't do cold espresso, but if I did, I'd probably want as little ice as I could get while still keeping it cold (the difficulty of finding that balance probably has a lot to with why I don't order them).

God I love restaurants that know what service is.

We're regulars at this Greek place. Came in for dinner tonight, with my very very pregnant wife. During the course of the dinner, the owner takes a bottle of wine, wraps it up, puts it on our table, and says 'when you get back from the hospital, enjoy this on me.'

You remember that kinda shit.

That's awesome CW.

I have a place like that I go to all the time. They sent flowers when they heard I had my last surgery. Touching, especially since I don't get there nearly as often anymore, since I live in Virginia and they're in now Silver Spring, MD, almost 40 miles away (they used to be in College Park until my last year of grad school).

Welllll.....

And Pass, it's a small place down in Naperville, at 59 & 95th. Kosta's. Food is not too shabby (awesome salad) - though I have to admit, Greek Islands is better. Trouble is, they get like no business. I'm halfway convinced it's a front, 'cause they've been open for years, and I have no idea how they can afford it.

Cool story and so true that you remember.

We rented a small room at the bar we always watched football at for the Giants- Pats superbowl and had a small party of about 10 people. The owner knew we were huge Giants fans and sent us a bottle of champagne after the Giants won.

For some reason I have the old them to the Dick Clark game show "The $25,000 Pyramid" (and its myriad versions) stuck in my head.. and I can't get it out!
