WW CXXXIX - The Red Death II - GAME OVER, SERVANTS WIN

Most nights are long and grueling, but last night was short and nasty. There is nothing you can say or do to help alleviate the pain you feel at the loss of so many of your fellow Lightbringers.

And last night brought another. With his back twisted by something, you arise to find hoopsguy has died like so many before him - violently. It is an unkind death, not suited to your ilk You deserve so much better, but that is not the world you live in.

I think if the lifegiver was in the game still they'd have used their ability by now. I really don't know that we have any roles for them to be hunting honestly.

Not that you can answer, but for others. As I read the description it came across as any night other than night one if he was the only wolf left.

That depends if Mau is telling the truth. As for the life giver, maybe an item or something is still needed or they were waiting until we got what appears to be the last original wolf so they could bring back the exorcist or minister. I have to head into work, but one of the questions I have are we sure McKerney is a villager? That was a crazy day he revealed as I believe we had 3 on the same day (DZ, McKerney, and Lathum). Several stated if it is a role that a wolf uses it was a good one because it brings little suspicion.

I agree, that it seems highly unlikely, which is why I assume we only have converts left. It's hard to believe four original.

And how many conversions have we seen that are in the wolf powers? EF's was if he was the last wolf, right? Narc's seduce (maybe) which was once a game? If he's a convert, I can't imagine he'd have a conversion ability as well so that really makes me think it was just a block night action ability.

Yeah, it certainly was a bad justification. I don't understand a reveal there from a villager or wolf POV. If he was a converted sheriff and we already killed who we thought was a converted sheriff, why reveal?

I don't know, but I also don't understand why a real sheriff would stay silent when he did. Neither of those moves would really make sense to me.

Yeah his offering of it being the first time he's been the BG doesn't exactly explain things. Not like he hasn't seen counter-reveal situations before.

I'm trying to figure out when conversions could have happened. Here are the roles and when they died:

NTN (day 1)- The Unhallowed – You are a former minister who has fallen and become a servant of the red death. You appear to be a minister in every normal way, and if followed at night by the Detective, he will see you studying the Bible and going to church. You may take kill or corrupt actions as your group sees fit.

Zinto (day 3)- Order of Vladd, Second Rank – You are a vampire and the leader of this group of Servants of the Red Death. At night, you can be sent to either try to corrupt or to kill. During the day, just once during the game, you can Enthrall someone. That person will be forced to change their vote and will be unable to change it back. You must do this at least one hour before the deadline. You are immune to dying through any method other than via an attack on The Priest (but not a corruption) and the Sacred Flame. You cannot be identified by the Adept and you will kill the Detective if you encounter him at night spying on you. You will instantly know if you have been targeted by someone, but not who or why. You have a Night Ability, Mesmerize, which you can only use once, on Night One.

Narcizo (day 6)- Succubus – You have been called demon by some, but you are really just an unappreciated creature. You may not be given kill actions, unless you are the last Servant left. During the day, your vote counts triple, but nobody will know unless it effects the results, what the actual numbers are (otherwise, numbers will not be published, just the winner of the Cleansing Flame vote). You are the only one who can use the Seduce action.

Eaglefan (day 7)- Werecrocodile – At night, you can turn into a super powerful evil crocodile and attack people. You cannot take corrupt actions. You are a lycanthrope. If you are Cleansed, you can take someone into the fire with you. If you are the only Servant after Night One, you will gain a one time Lycanthropic Bite ability to convert someone on the following night into another Werecrocodile.


It appears that ntn would have been able to corrupt, but since we killed him day1, that didn't happen. Zinto could either corrupt or kill. EF could not corrupt, but could convert if he was the only servant after night one.

I'm trying to figure out what the difference between corrupting and converting might be given that they're definitely different things from reading EF's description. I'm trying to figure out when conversions could have happened. Here are the roles and when they died:

NTN (day 1)- The Unhallowed – You are a former minister who has fallen and become a servant of the red death. You appear to be a minister in every normal way, and if followed at night by the Detective, he will see you studying the Bible and going to church. You may take kill or corrupt actions as your group sees fit.

Zinto (day 3)- Order of Vladd, Second Rank – You are a vampire and the leader of this group of Servants of the Red Death. At night, you can be sent to either try to corrupt or to kill. During the day, just once during the game, you can Enthrall someone. That person will be forced to change their vote and will be unable to change it back. You must do this at least one hour before the deadline. You are immune to dying through any method other than via an attack on The Priest (but not a corruption) and the Sacred Flame. You cannot be identified by the Adept and you will kill the Detective if you encounter him at night spying on you. You will instantly know if you have been targeted by someone, but not who or why. You have a Night Ability, Mesmerize, which you can only use once, on Night One.

Narcizo (day 6)- Succubus – You have been called demon by some, but you are really just an unappreciated creature. You may not be given kill actions, unless you are the last Servant left. During the day, your vote counts triple, but nobody will know unless it effects the results, what the actual numbers are (otherwise, numbers will not be published, just the winner of the Cleansing Flame vote). You are the only one who can use the Seduce action.

Eaglefan (day 7)- Werecrocodile – At night, you can turn into a super powerful evil crocodile and attack people. You cannot take corrupt actions. You are a lycanthrope. If you are Cleansed, you can take someone into the fire with you. If you are the only Servant after Night One, you will gain a one time Lycanthropic Bite ability to convert someone on the following night into another Werecrocodile.


It appears that ntn would have been able to corrupt, but since we killed him day1, that didn't happen. Zinto could either corrupt or kill. EF could not corrupt, but could convert if he was the only servant after night one.

I'm trying to figure out what the difference between corrupting and converting might be given that they're definitely different things from reading EF's description. Do we think that the corruption might turn people into the new role where EF's convert is only to his same role or something like that?

Trying to catch up real quick. We know there was a kill every night, even a double kill once. so if the bad guys converted they did it as a second action. It seems Zinto could either corrupt or kill, so he had Night 1 and Night 2 he could have possibly killed. Did the first two night kills look the same as all the other kills?

Rereading Narc's role I'm thinking he's definitely a convert. It seems to be suggesting he's a lesser creature, and the fact that he has less powers than the others makes me think he was a convert. It's unlikely he was converted night 4 though since it seems like only Zinto could convert, before Narc.

It seems that whatever killed CF is still alive, snapping necks. So whoever it was was converted before that. It seems likely we have a Day 1 and a Day 2 convert, unless the kill writeups suggested that Zinto made one of those kills. It's odd that they got the double kills one night only. I would guess that whoever is snapping necks has a different ability they are choosing to use at night rather than a kill. Or maybe they only get a few kills? Narc got none, so the converts seem rather underpowered.

Which makes things rather rough, as MrBug said he did two scans on N2, meaning that any of his scans could have been converted N1. That's on top of the possibility of charms or cunning characters.

On the other hand, unless there were four starting wolves, or a convert who could convert, we can be fairly sure there's only one wolf left. As Hoops said earlier, it seems unlikely that EF would have that rule if there were four starting wolves. Although it's almost as unlikely with three. It would be pretty rough if the wolves lost two of their number before the first night! We haven't seen any items or powers that have that sort of power.

I'm unsure where to go today. Mauboy is very suspect, but there are plenty of others who could have been converted, and who have been suspect as well. I'm tempted to give Mauboy another night to try to prove himself. But then again, if he's the last wolf that's probably just why he would reveal as sheriff.
