The pastor said the weapon was in the back of his van, and one of his sons got a hold of it and accidentally shot his brother.

Church members said they’ve been praying constantly since the shooting.

Maybe they should have prayed for the pastor to not be a fucking moron.

A federal bankruptcy judge ruled Thursday that bankruptcy proceedings will not shield Infowars host Alex Jones from more than $1.1 billion in damages he owes the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims who won a civil defamation case against him in Connecticut last year.

The families filed a motion in May asking the court to force Jones to pay the trial damages and rule out the possibility of a forced settlement in Chapter 11 proceedings. If forced into a settlement through bankruptcy Jones could have liquidated his broadcast company and likely paid the families a substantially lower amount in damages while also clearing the way for him to start a new company free of claims.

Jones filed for personal bankruptcy last December after he was ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion in the Connecticut case brought by the family members of eight shooting victims and a first responder.

Local news reported that his vehicle looked to be abandoned near a boat dock. Possibly he is currently on a boat. There are also reports of a possible second person involved in a black truck, but there are almost always false reports of a second person being involved and it seldom holds up.

I realize this is a rhetorical question, but what is so hard about common sense solutions like?

1-Enforce all of the fucking gun laws on the books, universal background checks

2-A serious mental health DX excludes ANYBODY from ever owning a gun. That means you go and confiscate them and if a family member gives them another, they face the same charges if said lunatic executes a mass shooting.

3-To counter the "what about Chicago" crowd. If you are caught with an unregistered, stolen or otherwise illegal firearm you get a MANDATORY lengthy prison sentence, like 20 years minimum or more. Make possessing illegal firearms serious enough to discourage people from getting them. And add mandatory extensions to any sentence for a crime involving a gun, even just pointing it as someone in a robbery.

Instead, there will thoughts and prayers, some half assed rhetoric about doing something, the usual defense of the great second amendment and we go back to normal until the next one.

This country is seriously fucked and not even close to one I proudly served in the military for.

Domestic violence needs to be taken more seriously in regards to gun ownership. So many of these shooters have histories of abusing women. One of the early theories on this one was that he was trying to kill his ex-girlfriend in the bowling alley.

Maine, which is my home state, is a big state, geographically, despite impressions one might get from its small population. He has plenty of places to hide, and if he's used water to cover his movements, it'll take dogs longer to get a scent. I'm sure they'll eventually find him, but it'll take a while.

I would be surprised if he crosses the border successfully, though. For one, it's a pretty long way away from Lewiston, and for two there are listening devices all along the border (for smuggling interdiction), not just presences at road border crossings.
