no, I haven't. Nor has anyone else here. But I will deny that anything has been done to justify the beheading of babies, the kidnapping of civilians, or suicide bomb attacks.

How about we also agree the Flasch takes Edward complaints to the Edward thread. It was really unnecessary here.

If you read my posts, they weren’t complaining about his posts but that it was changing from the subject to debating more about his statements which would go to the other thread. I thought that’s why the other thread was made. For when a debate shifts from the topic to more about his definitions and such and then he went on the attack. I did a smh emoji to show that he didn’t get what I was saying in that I thought it was the exact reason the other thread was made.

Worth noting that there is going to be a ton of misinformation put out there in the coming weeks. This story was reported on by i24, which is essentially state-run media for Netanyahu loyalists.

The story could be true, but I'd wait till actual independent journalists confirm. This might take a while considering Israel's penchant for murdering journalists. Israel has a long history of lying about stuff like this and we should be certain before blasting out these stories as fact.

Yeah, the story is coming from interviews with Israeli soldiers. Definitely could have happened, but not the most trustworthy source. Worth mentioning that the reporter everyone is sourcing has sort of backtracked the initial report saying the soldiers she interviewed didn't witness anything, they just believe that's what happened.

I would say the same for reports out of Gaza. Take with a grain of salt until verified by actual reporters on the ground.

Honestly, it sounded similar to the Kuwaiti reports that Saddam's soldiers threw babies out of ventilators. It wouldn't surprise me if we later found out there was no evidence for the beheaded babies claim.

Not that it makes the attacks any better or more acceptable.

Spoiler

I personally find it hard to believe about babies being beheaded. I can easily see this as intentional propaganda or just honest misinterpretation of events/reports. I know it's definitely possible, but I find it hard to believe anyone could be that savage and would want real proof that it wasn't a one-off crazy person.

With that said, if there is proof and it wasn't a one-off crazy person, and Hamas does not apologize and promise to punish the perps ... then this is a 10 on the atrocity scale.

There is definitely evidence of a massacre near the border. There is a very good chance that many children are among the dead. That is horrible enough news.

Maybe the beheading stuff is real, but it's odd that Israel isn't confirming and more or less letting rumors take a life of their own. There is always this kind of stuff happening during wars to gain public support. JPhillips mentioned the baby incubators in Kuwait.

It's a way of dehumanizing your enemy more and covering for atrocities your own side commits. The argument of "both sides are killing innocent children, but the one side does it in a more barbaric manner" works on the public.

There is some good news I guess. The one woman who was at the rave and shown in the back of a pickup truck is apparently alive and in a hospital. Hopefully the German government can work on bringing her home safely.

Honestly, IMO pretty good odds that is propaganda also. Comes from a Palestinian source.

From the video I saw with her naked, twisted leg in an unnatural angle, paraded around in a truck ... my guess is she was murdered.

But easy enough to prove it, they should do a quick video as proof of life.

This is good, hope it works out (and fast).

Question is where will they go and if Israel will let them return once its "over".

US talking to Israel, Egypt about safe passage for Gaza civilians -White House | Reuters
Quote:
The U.S. is talking with Israel and Egypt about the idea of a safe passage for Gaza civilians as Israel strikes the enclave after a deadly Hamas attack over the weekend, U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday.

"We are focused on this question, there are consultations going on," Sullivan told reporters at the White House.

"But the details of that are something that are being discussed among the operational agencies and I don't want to share too much of that publicly at this time," Sullivan said.

Well the Israelis answered by obliterating the parts of Gaza that Hamas missed. That's definitely an answer!

Also bombing the area of the Rafah crossing which ... won't help any evacuation plan. I know there are legitimate targets there like smuggling tunnels, but it's also like ...

- Leave Gaza now
- But both of your exits that we control are of course closed
- And we're also going to bomb the only available exit left to you
- But leave Gaza now, and good luck dodging the gifts our planes are dropping.
- And who knows if Egypt will even allow you to.

Israel has been shelling. Lots of black smoke. I kinda admire the operators, you can hear them talking and doing something in the background with the sound of artillery interrupting them every so often.

Interestingly enough, it is only the 63rd most densely populated area in the world. Of course the border situation making it impossible to leave is what makes it worse.

True.

But then shouldn't they say "we condemn the Hamas atrocities against civilians etc. However, we support the Palestinian people etc."

The initial post wasn't definitely supporting the attacks. There are people on the far left that have no problems with Hamas and their tactics.

Absolutely they should IMO. The people who stand with Israel, including our President, should also do so while condemning their mistreatment of the Palestinians, the illegal settlements, and so on. And they aren't doing that either.

In my view, anybody who looks at this conflict, and is fine saying 'I support X side' without qualification fits into one of two categories:

- They need to be educated on the basic facts of the situation. Many, many people know a lot more than I do, and I can't see it that way.

- They're willing to ignore the atrocities committed by the side they support. IMO, this position is unconscionable.

First of all I don't want to stand with anyone bercause I'm lazy and would rather just lie here.
And second....um.....no.
Thirdly, I don't like either side. Is there another option?
I mean they don't even know why they are fighting anymore. Is it for land? DOubt it since they keep blowing up said land.
