How do you do it with such ease in the first quarter and then not at all for the rest of the game? YEah, it's a question we'll probably never know the answer to. Hah.

You take the top 6 teams in the BCS standings after championship week and you have a playoff. Top two teams get a bye, 3 extra games max.

I don't think Stanford has any room to argue against Okie State at this point. I am not a big Big 12 guy but Okie State has far more impressive wins on their resume than Stanford.

Last year Wisconsin was carving up State and then in the 3rd they once again gave up running when they got down 7 and it cost them. Bielema is a great program manager; he is recruiting well and selling the school better then it's ever been sold. He is an average at best in game coach though, and that is being nice.

What if they used some sort of system that the best teams would play each other at the end of the year in a tournament format and then play a championship game with the two teams that made it to the end?

That's what we have now: A championship game with the top two teams in a single round tournament format.

I'm wondering if TCU will be able to break into the top 16 (or do they just have to be ahead of a BCS champ?). There aren't a lot of candidates to drop past them (Houston? the MSU/Wisconsin loser? Georgia? Oklahoma?).

Could be interesting.

TCU is likely in at this point I'd imagine. It seems to be setting up for Michigan/TCU in the Sugar Bowl.

Two top teams as decided by some mystery computer formulas, coaches who don't watch the games, and random people connected to college football.

Time to re-establish the run game please. Another TD for Ball ties Sanders, fyi.

edit: of course in fewer games, but still..

I believe Oklahoma State has more wins over BCS top 25 opponents than Alabama. The SEC is incredibly top heavy. I mean the argument for Alabama getting in is "they didn't get blown out by LSU". I don't know who is 2nd best, but this notion that they are a lock is laughable. They've had one quality win all season. Not like they've blasted through top 10 teams every week.

How about we assign the champions like boxing? This one guy did it:

http://collegefootballbelt.com/index.htm

It started with the winner of the very first title game being the first champion. From there they held the championship until they lost and so on...

Virginia Tech is the current titleholder after taking it from Ga Tech earlier this year. That means Clemson is about to win the national championship. Congrats!

I'm with you on that. Bama doesn't have much of a resume to speak of. They passed the eyeball test most of the time, but it wasn't vs a bunch of world beaters.

I'm no BCS wizard, but it looks like Alabama and OSU were pretty damn close i the BCS rankings (.950 to .930). With OSU certainly jumping Virginia Tech and probably Stanford (based on the strength of their win tonight) and picking up some SOS from beating Oklahoma (who the computers love), I'd be surprised if they don't jump Alabama.

OSU will win every, or 95%+ of the computer polls over Bama. That means they can get in with 100% 3rd place votes or higher with 25% of those being 2nd ahead of Bama. (For every 4th place they have, they need one more 2nd place above that 25% mark.)

I think it's very possible. It may come down to how many voters sleep walk Stanford into staying above OSU.

Interesting, with VT losing tonight, I could see some of their voters shifting to OSU. Maybe, we won't get stuck with a snoozer of a National Championship after all.

Well, we had injury issues going into tonight, but when you lose your best defensive player in the first half AND your best offensive player gets hobbled as well, these things happen. We just don't have the depth to overcome those deficiencies against a good team like Clemson. On the bright side, we should end up going bowling right down the street in the Chicken Bowl, so I know where I'll be for New Year's Eve.

Mike wasn't right. Or the refs weren't right.

Mike said the toe in bounds was enough and it wasn't a catch because of the bobble at the end.

The Refs just said that his foot came down out of bounds.

Same decision but two totally different reasons.

Either way, it was the right call.
