Is it for the Liars Dice game? If so, it is on the first floor but the question mark will show up even if there's nobody there to play the game. Happened to me and I just had to go save and come back and the guy was at the table. |

I also didn't know that dead animals appeared on the mini map. I'd given up finding a few because I couldn't find their carcasses in the underbrush.

I broke down and bought this last night and only had a couple of hours to play so far, but I can see this eating up some gaming time. The only thing I am having problems with so far is the Deadeye function, which I guess just takes practice. Accidentally missed the bridge on the first race around the farm and plunged off the cliff, but have managed to stay alive otherwise.

Just had a cool moment - I was going full gallop down the road when I suddenly realize a woman is being chased by 2 cougars. I immediately click on the targeting and go to shoot 1 of the cougars, but I still had the lasso targeted from my last bounty hunt. So, I lasso the cougar and my horse's momentum yanks it off its feet and it flies backward, apparently breaking its neck or something because it is dead. I then pause the game, switch to my favorite rifle, turn the horse around and go immediately into deadeye mode (the game is much easier since I've started using the mode more often) and get off a long distance head shot on the other cougar just before it maws the lady.

Are you guys being "good" or "bad"? so far i'm the perfect good guy (besides an stupid incident where i had a to kill a guy after i stole his horse thinking it was mine) but i think it will be way more fun to be a bad guy as i have always been in GTA series.

Anyone know if I need the other players or the dealer to run out of money in Blackjack for it to end? I'm definitely finding it less fun than poker which I could enjoy for hours.

I ended up doing a google search and apparently blackjack isn't like Poker. You cash out whatever chips you have left at a 10 chip to 1 dollar rate.

Crud, was going for the Dastardly achievement...
Came across a whore runnign away from bandits. Killed them and she was still running so I lassoed her and hogtied her (I was in the middle of nowhere so I figured it wouldn't add to my bounty with no-one around). As I was taking her to find the train I stumbled across other bandits who shot at me and they ended up killing her. Guess I wasn't meant to get that achievement tonight. |

I hang out in tumbleweed and just shoot the hawks and songbirds that flock there. It's a good profit too.

I've been impressed with the graphics throughout (as I think everybody has been), but just had my first blown away moment, as I was galloping through the dessert at night and it started pouring rain and crackling thunder as the sun set, and the rain splashed against the camera, and the orange-purple sky reflected in the puddles I was galloping through each time lightning struck. Very impressive. There's virtually no pop-up to speak of, which is impressive for a game so vast.

I really enjoy the game quite a bit. My only problem is that too many tasks/missions are like "start here, keep shooting and moving forward." I guess that type of stuff is better than flying model airplanes packed with explosives, or by having to launch a bike onto a helicopter and then shoot down a speedboat. But anyways, the gatling mission was kind of cool. Although when i went to raid the corpses, I know i must have killed 3 times as many guys.
I'm just hoping there's going to be something as cool as 3 leaf clover(from gta 4) |

I've also noticed that corpses seem to disappear if you don't get to them quickly enough. That is a minor gripe of mine. As far as the strategy and variety of the missions, I've enjoyed them so far and am glad they haven't tried to somehow work in some of the more gimmicky missions that were in GTA.

How evil do you think you could be in this game? The cut scenes seem to always have John being good. For instance, when I help out the snake oil salesman instead of shooting him in the face. I guess the story requires he help me, but I'd like the option to just be a total a-hole.

So Im riding on the trails and some guy slows his horse down and stops as I pass. Thinking that something is up, I also stop and watch him dismount then walk about 15-20 feet away from his horse down into a small ravine. Not knowing what to expect, I fear the worst. Then the guy whips his dick out and takes a piss right in front of me while looking my direction. Sorry pal, not cool.
Grab my lasso out and cut him off mid-stream. Not too worried because were out in the middle of nowhere. He starts clamoring for the sheriff and 5 seconds after I hogtie this MF up, there starts the bounty and the deputies are closing in. Throw him on the back of my horse and take a few bullets in the back getting the hell out of there. Dunno who saw me or how there were multiple lawmen around in the backcountry but this joker now has a 20 dollar bounty of my head for just tying him up. My solution: hauled his ass up to the farthest northern region were all the mountain lions and coyotes run wild. Threw him on the ground still tied up and then pull out the 'bait', which is basically pouring blood all over his body, get on my horse and leave.

I've been playing pretty much as honorably as possible, without even trying much, just because there's so much other stuff to shoot besides people, without worrying about a bounty and wanted level, and once my honor got high enough to get some benefits I figured I might as well keep going that way. I've even purchased the bandana hours ago, and never put it to use.
...but I did just slip on the bandana, and like 20 minutes later woke up from a haze, with a pile of wagons, carts, and dozens and dozens of slaughtered horses, men, women and officers of the law, littering a crossroads in the middle of the dessert. Oops.

Played a couple of hours MP last night (well, very early this morning really) for the first time. Never even got to the PvP stuff, just messed around with the vs AI stuff in Free Roam. Apparently that's a great/easier way to level your character since I've already passed my son who has spent quite a few more hours playing on the PvP stuff.

Well, you *could* be as evil as you like, you just won't be able to progress the story at all, I guess. I had some friends over last night who wanted to see the game, so we just started up a new character and messed about being evil, and it was alarmingly fun. First thing I did was jump onto the moving train, work my way up to the engine, kill the driver, then beat a couple of old ladies senseless in the passenger car. Then, after being dissapointed that we couldn't drive the train, I stole a horse and cart, tried to flee the lawmen, and died in a glorious shootout. Outside of that, having a lot of fun with the regular game, but I think I'm progressing the story too quickly and not just riding around and enjoying the game world enough.

Wow, I haven't even done Fort Mercer yet, probably getting close though. Probably closing in on 20 hours but I keep getting sidetracked with hunting and the other games that you can play. It has now crept into my real life. Was driving out of the complex today and saw an animal scurry behind a bush and my first thought was "Looked like an armadillo, not worth it". Of course it was just a cat but that is probably the first time a cat moving on the side of the road has ever caught my attention like that. |

Seems like a bug, but I thought some of you might like to know it anyway. At least in my case, I was able to whistle for my horse and get a duplicate horse of my stallion after he ran off a cliff trying to get to me the first time. He was definitely dead and I skinned him (and cried while doing it ) but just for the heck of it, I tried whistling and was surprised to see my old faithful horse running up from around the bend.

You don't have to clear the poker table to cash out. Like blackjack, it's proportional. At some point, it's no longer worth trying to bust that guy out for his last 200 chips, so I just leave. Plus, if you can get in a game with 4 other people there's a lot of money to be made.
apologies if it's been mentioned. |

That's nice to know. The poker is actually pretty fun, but it would be a lot nicer if they increased the blinds at some point....playing heads up for 1000 chips with a 2 chip big-blind is an endurance test.

Also I dunno if there's a faq up somewhere, but basically my brother and I seem to think there's a very limited profile on the poker players. I don't know if it sticks with a guy forever or not. But certain guys push everything, certain types almost always fold/only play pre flop, etc. So I think there's a pattern out there. We played a guy for awhile testing out this theory, unfortunately we were head to head with him for 20 minutes. He never reraised post flop, and most likely folded on a min bet.
