Sorry to see you go Barkeep. Though you have to admit that was a pretty funny way to go out.

Okay, guys. I think we're ready to move on. I need one player who wants to take it easy to volunteer.

How is everyone doing?
"When I left the game Ardent told me who the mole was; since you're not the mole, and cause you seemed to do a good job of helping us out, would you like to know what he told me? That way you can use it to your advantage and we can beat the mole! As this is outside the rules, I'd ask that you just keep this between us."

So did everyone get that message, and is it part of the game, or what?

Anyone want to confess?
By the way, Barkeep is still in the game. Did I make an error, or was this intentional? RPI-Fan is The Mole's second victim.

I said no. Cheating in a free game doesn't make sense to me.
But that was a setup? I don't get it. |

It was a setup, and someone took the bait. The game will continue.

The real question I have is whether I was setup or not. Ardent didn't tell me that I would be put back into the game until AFTER I had sent out the messages. I apologzie for any ill feelings, but I thought it would be a fun thing to do (causing choas when I was "dead") and not something I'd have done if I knew I'd be put back in at some point.

It should be noted, barkeep didn't want any of you to think badly of him. He asked me to vouch for him, and I will.

How very very interesting. Of course now one of the main people I thought was the Mole is gone. That leaves about five of you I thought was the Mole.

Recap:
First, I'd like to thank those of you that helped me in trying this out. Unfortunately, a few players had to leave for one thing or another, and just when I was ready to roll again, I have a family emergency myself. In my haste to return home to take care of my wife, I left my "idea" notebook at the barracks in Chicago. This effectively killed the game, though I felt it was dieing after the first set of votes. Part of the problem that I saw was inactivity, though everyone had a valid reason for theirs. Another part was the time required to pull it all together. Tasks needed to be at least a day to get everyone involved. FOUTS was The Mole. Unfortunately, he had to leave...which posed a small challenge for me. I couldn't include past information on Fouts for The Mole test, as Kevin had taken over. Kevin then has to go and get married (!) , and now my Mole is gone again. Fouts relunctantly rejoined to help out again, but The Mole was effectively shot as I tried to work out one final kink in my next task. RPI-fan asked to be removed at one point, and that was fine with me. I told him I'd take care of it, and I intended to remove him from the game on the 2nd test, only to forget and eliminate Barkeep. Barkeep had answered just one question correctly. I was reminded of this after Barkeep had contacted all the players about knowing who The Mole was. Barkeep was put up to do this beforehand, and I had planned this from the beginning to test the players' honesty. Barkeep didn't really know who The Mole was, nor did he have any idea he would be rejoining the game. That is, until he told me about RPI's response. Believe it or not, not a single person tabbed The Mole in either challenge. The game was entertaining for me, but I'd have to groom this somehow to either have players with no real inavailability or less time intensive challenges. Thoughts and/or suggestions are always welcome. Thanks again, guys.

Looking to the Johnny93g 'kidnapping', you'd see Kevin tried to divert his group some, but couldn't be incredibly obvious about it. Of the four tasks we had, that was about it that I remember off hand.

Thanks for the update Ardent. The main problem was that some of the tasks took more than a day to complete. I think it would have been better if the game was treated more like Werewolf, where there was a vote every day. People had to be active in the game since there was a deadline each day.
I had pretty much ruled Fouts (and Kevin) out because I couldn't quite believe you'd give the role of the Mole to someone(s) who would have to leave the game at some point. So I pretty much ruled out everybody who replaced another player. For the record I had Pass as the Mole in both quizzes (I think). I thought perhaps the delay (lay-over) in on our first flight in the football/hockey/baseball mission was the Mole in action in a small way. Plus he kept wanting to go to smaller towns and posted we had gone to some other city when we were going to Milwaukee. That was my favorite mission, probably because I figured it out. The "sports teams moved from" was a nice red herring, and while I believed it to be the actual puzzle to begin with, it became clear later on that it wasn't. I took a look at the profile of the player who was being held hostage at that point, saw Miami was his favorite team, and that he was in our group to begin with, the loves football group. Wish I had looked at his profile earlier. It was certainly a fun thing to try Ardent, and could still work someday, if life doesn't intervene as much as it did in this run of it. Thanks for taking the time to come up with the game and for the work you put into it. |

Thanks AE. Even though it didn't exactly work out, it wasn't half bad either.

Props to AE for trying something new on here. Apologies to all for bailing on you, but my wireless connection sucked while I was on vacation. I had to rack my brain trying to figure out how to blow the challenges without giving myself up.

Yeah too bad this fizzled on us. I was probably close to being out there given that I never would have picked the Mole as I said above. But did good in the challenges especially that last one. Wasn't really looking forward to multiplayer minesweeper though LOL

My suggestion MJ4H would be to get together with your Mole in advance and plan things out as best you can. And to make sure your Mole has the level of commitment and time needed to see the game through to the end. Last edited by Thomkal : 07-21-2008 at 11:59 PM. |

Interesting read. I think you have to find a way to keep the game moving faster or else I think it will become stagnant (like this version did). Was a solid effort, but it just didn't make it.
