35-7, Baltimore beating Pittsburgh with less than 2 minutes left. I think it's safe to switch to a different game, CBS.

Thanks CBS for switching to a close game (when the clock hit 0:00 in the BAL-PIT game) just in time for me to see the Jags take a knee!

Am I imaging things or did they do a much better job of switching off back in the day? I mean they should have switched about half an hour ago for god sakes.

They finally switch to a real game (CIN-CLE, 20-17, with 3 minutes left)

I really hope Dalton isn't going to miss any time though. The offense is clearly better with him in charge.

Lions still got some stupid in them, but TB was a little too late in the comeback.

what a wonderful start for my beloved Cards-sack Newton in his first series, get a good punt return from rookie Peterson, Beanie Wells gets a good run, Heap makes a catch, and after a sack, Kolb drives them down the field for a Wells TD run.

But that isn't saying much. @5 yards per pass and 3.5 yards per run isn't going to get them much of anywhere. Dalton was okay, especially for a rookie, but he's clearly got a long way to go.

That being said, I could see the Bengals as a big surprise team in the first half due to their really easy schedule. The second half is much more difficult and they might be lucky to win one of their last eight games.

seemed like a huge breakdown in the Cardinals secondary, Smith got open behind everyone, that should never happen.

Nope it shouldn't have-they lost their starting CB Toler for the season, so having to let the rookie Peterson start, secondary gonna be a pretty scary all season long I think.

I enjoyed watching them play this game more than I have in years. No whining and bitching with each other, no bitching at the coaching staff, actually seeming to want to play, no delay of game penalties, no turnovers, running on 3rd and 1 instead of passing, using the TE much better, and just some good basic solid football.

I only saw the ESPN gamecast, but that's good to hear. I think they'll at least be as good as last year with the potential for a good team in a couple of years.

One thing is perfectly clear. Bruce Gradkowski is terrible. I hope they look at Garrard or a trade if Dalton is out for any time.

*ugh* very nice drive by Kolb, Beanie Wells running great, get near the end zone, and backup rb Howling messes up the hand off and Carolina recovers. *sigh*

Is Bernard Berrian playing? I read a few articles about him and McNabb having chemisty, he had a pretty good pre-season, and so far a goose egg.

and it gets worse, Cards get an INT called back by a questionable penalty, then Newton throws his second TD pass to Steve Smith to take the lead at the half.

Carolina leads 14-7 at the half. It could have just as easily been 21-7 Arizona, they are for the most part cutting through the Panther defense like butter, but giving it all away once they get in the red zone. Carolina got bailed out a bit on a roughing the passer penalty on what would have been Cam Newton's first INT, instead they end up with Newton to Steve Smith for his second TD.

Definitely seemed a bit overprotective of the QB to call that. It looked a little weird on replay... the defender seemed to, for no reason at all, leave the ground to try to leap into the QB instead of just tackling him. I don't know if that had anything to do with why it got called or not, but I know I wouldn't have thought anything of it if it wasn't called and it was just an INT.

The Giants had one of their offensive tackles playing TE because they're down to one (Bear Pascoe). Ballard might come back though.

Seattle has a total of 37 yards at half. Marshawn Lynch has 6 yards on 7 attempts.

That worked out well.

Giants defense is just to banged up to give up point to the other team while they are on offense.

well after a Newton INT that wasn't called back this time, it was the Panthers turn for the secondary to break down and Kolb found TE and former Panther Jeff King wide open for the TD. Tie ball game.

Just got back from a day in the hot, hot heat of Raymond James...we definately looked flat but I still had a great day jawwin' it up with those goofy Detroit fans. And nobody got shot or stabbed...outside of the loss, a good day.

really bad news, Beason is so good.

Newton looks outstanding. Arizona's struggles in the red zone still seems like the biggest factor today but I'm so impressed with Newton.

Back-to-back sacks by the Giants save what was looking like a really horrible drive for the defense. I think that might gave been the Giants first blitz on that 3rd down play this half. They've been sitting back in zone coverage and Rex Grossman of all people has been picking them apart.

And I think Giants have started all of their offensive drives inside their own 20.

EDIT: First half, their starting position was their 30, their 30, their 29. Since the start of the 2nd quarter, every Giants drive has start at their 20 (touchbacks) or inside their 20. This Giants-Redskins game has been a case study in the importance of the battle for field position.
