With only Week 30 to go, I will just let you all know that Week 30 may take a little while to post on, I don't expect to get all 8 conferences done in 1 shot.
Along with the game scores, I will also be posting final standings for each conference, plus first round conference tournament pairings. I may have to spend some time figuring out tiebreakers for seeding in the conference tournaments. Speaking of, the conference tournament will feature all 16 teams from each conference. The top team in division A will face the last place team in division B in the first round, and so on. Teams will still be seeded 1-16, with the top seed going to the division winner with the best conference record, 2nd seed going to the other division winner. Then from there, it will go in alternating order by division. For instance, if the #1 seed comes from Division A, then seeds 3,5,7,9,11,13,15 will come from division A. If the #2 seed comes from division A, then seeds 4,6,8,10,12,14,16 will come from Division A. Hopefully it's not too complicated, I feel this is the best way to seed the teams and keep every first round game a cross division game. |

Before I go any farther, let me explain the tiebreakers
1. Head to head competition 2. Record against team with best conference record. 3. Best overall record. 4. Coin Flip These tiebreakers apply for a 2 team tie. The same tiebreakers apply for a 3+ team tie. Once the highest seed has been determined, the tiebreakers will start over. For instance, if 3 teams are tied for 3rd place in their division, the first set of tiebreakers will decide who gets 3rd place, and the next set of tiebreakers will decide who gets 4th and 5th place. If anything at all is confusing, please let me know, and if you want to know how individual tiebreakers are broken down for any ties within a conference, I'll be glad to tell you. Hope you all are enjoying. |

4 conferences down, 4 to go. I'm stopping here for now, because my brain is fried and I need a break. I will try to get the other 4 conferences done tonight, but more than likely it won't be until tomorrow. Either way, I probably won't start the conference tournaments until Monday, as this is going to be a busy weekend and free time may be limited

Break time again, all those 3 team tiebreakers in the Atlantic Ten call for a break. Be back in a few hours to get the last 2 conferences down, either that or tomorrow night.

State- 73 vs. (3) Virginia- 68 (10) Manhattan- 61 vs. (7) N. Carolina- 79 (15) Miami (FL)- 68 vs. (2) GA Tech- 77 (OT) A couple upsets in the first round here, surprised to see N.C. State beating Virginia. Quarterfinal Pairings: (9) Pitt vs. (1) Syracuse (5) Duke vs. (4) Clemson (14) N.C. State vs. (11) Florida St. (10) N. Carolina vs. (2) GA Tech I decided not to do game by game recaps, not even for the postseason tournaments, because quite frankly my time is limited between several part time jobs and other projects, so unfortunately this dynasty will be scores only. I've had a lot of fun with this so far, but I know that the heavy work is yet to come. |

Florida- 62 vs. (3) Houston- 61 (10) Boise St.- 57 vs. (7) San Diego St.- 78 (15) Cincinnati- 76 vs. (2) Memphis- 72 A good round for the lower seeds, as 4 of them won. We have our first regular season division winner gone as Memphis tumbles. I've always thought Cincinnati was better than their record showed this season. I don't think it matters though, Louisville is by far the best team in this WIS dynasty, and somebody will have to play a perfect game to knock them off in the conference tournament. Quarterfinal pairings: (8) Temple vs. (1) Louisville (12) San Francisco vs. (4) UConn (14) S. Florida vs. (11) UNLV (15) Cincinnati vs. (7) San Diego St. |

I've simmed 3 first rounds so far, and the 6 seed has lost in all of them. Richmond becomes the first 3 seed to win. Other than that, not much to talk about in this ugly conference. But now 3 is the seed not to be, as another 3 seed goes down in Xavier. No way should Harvard have done as bad as they did this season though. Dakota St.- 77 vs. (2) Baylor- 68 So another division winner goes down in the first round, opening up the bottom half of the bracket. All 3 Kansas teams are still in it, although 1 will definitely be eliminated in the quarterfinals. The Wichita St.-Ohio game is an instant classic. Quarterfinal pairings: (9) W. Carolina- 64 vs. (3) Florida- 75 (10) Vanderbilt- 63 vs. (7) Auburn- 68 (15) Georgia- 58 vs. (2) LA Tech- 71 I'd like to say Southern Miss beating Kentucky is an upset, but it's really not. In reality Southern Miss had like a 26-5 record last season, but just couldn't handle the grind of playing mostly BCS teams in this what if sports dynasty. That's the thing about single elimination, a team can have a good game and pull and upset, or have a terrible game and see their season end earlier than it should. That's why March Madness is one of my favorite events! Anyway, enough rambling, it's time to reveal the quarterfinal pairings for the SEC Tournament. (8) Duquesne- 75 vs. (1) GW- 74
(5) Stephen F. Austin- 80 vs. (4) St. Bonaventure- 74 (11) Mercer- 68 vs. (3) Richmond- 78 (10) St. Josephs- 77 vs. (2) VCU- 68 (OT) So the top 2 seeds are gone from the A-10 tournament. Not surprising as this has been the weakest conference throughout, and the most open. This frees up an automatic bid for the 4 remaining teams. And it's always nice not to have to sweat out selection Sunday because you already know you're in the field. 3 auto bids out of the A-10 this season. Part of me thought GW would walk through this tournament, but part of me predicted a third auto coming from this conference tournament. Semifinal pairings: (8) Duquesne vs. (5) Stephen F. No surprise to see Harvard in the mix, they are a good team that whatifsports didn't give favorable ratings to. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the finals of this conference tournament. bbgunn, I was very happy to see Kentucky get knocked off, but unfortunately they will probably still make the NCAA tournament in my dynasty. Not sure about Alabama. I'm pretty sure Hawaii is NIT bound at best, but they did better than I expected in the Pac 12!

(15) Cincinnati- 58 vs. (14) S. But.. Louisville has easily been the best team in this dynasty, so we'll see what the sim holds for this one. |

Atlantic Ten- Semifinals
(8) Duquesne- 67 vs. (5) Stephen F. Austin- 58
(10) St. Josephs- 72 vs. (3) Richmond- 68 Atlantic Ten Final: (10) St. Josephs vs. (8) Duquesne In the wacky world of the A-10 this dynasty, I'm not surprised you've got 2 lower seeds fighting it out for an auto bid. The winner of this one will still be a low seed in the NCAA Tournament, and could even be in the First Four. The loser, however, will probably be relegated to our "Best of the Worst" tournament, although St. Josephs could still sneak into the NIT even if they lose this game. |

(6) Indiana- 59 vs. (2) Iowa- 69 Big Ten Final: (2) Iowa vs. (1) Michigan This is the only conference tournament that will have the top 2 teams in the championship. Both teams are already in the NCAA Tournament, and Michigan has all but locked up a #1 seed, but you can bet they'd like to verify it by winning this game. As for Iowa, they still have a chance at a very good seed, maybe a 3 or 4, so it seems they might have a little bit more to play for. |

Big 12 Tournament- Semifinals
(9) W. Virginia- 77 vs. (4) New Mexico- 56
(7) Oklahoma St.- 55 vs. (3) Wichita St.- 79 Big 12 Final: (9) W. Virginia vs. (3) Wichita St. Some very impressive performances from both our semifinal winners, and I'm ecstatic that my Shockers made it to their conference championship, now they need to win it. But it won't be easy as W. Virginia is hot right now. Not to mention the only way they make the field of 68 is to win against Wichita St., otherwise it's more than likely NIT for them, maybe not even that. So I hope my boys are ready to play, cause it's gonna be a grind! |

Pac 12 Tournament- Semifinals
(4) Gonzaga- 70 vs. (1) Arizona- 64
(7) Oregon St.- 72 vs. (6) Arizona St.- 60 Pac 12 Final: (7) Oregon St. vs. (4) Gonzaga Well so much for that all-Arizona final I thought we might have, but I'm ok with what we got. Gonzaga is NCAA bound no matter what, Oregon St. needs to win this game. I've heard through the grapevine that president Obama will be at this game to support his brother-in-law. |

SEC Tournament- Semifinals
(13) Southern Miss- 72 vs. (1) Arkansas- 63
(7) Auburn- 58 vs. (3) Florida- 82 SEC Final: (13) Southern Miss vs. (3) Florida Not surprised by those semifinal results. Both of these teams were very, very good in reality last season, and Southern Miss just didn't perform as well as I thought they would in the SEC. But they can correct all that by beating Florida in the SEC Title game, then anything can happen in the big dance! My money is still on Florida though. |

Conference Tournament Championships
ACC Championship
(11) Florida St.- 61 vs. (5) Duke- 70 American Championship (15) Cincinnati- 62 vs. (1) Louisville- 70 Atlantic Ten Championship (10) St. Josephs- 66 vs. (8) Duquesne- 53 Big East Championship (14) Harvard- 61 vs. (1) Villanova- 80 Big Ten Championship (2) Iowa- 76 vs. (1) Michigan- 74 Big 12 Championship (9) W. Virginia- 68 vs. (3) Wichita St.- 83 Pac 12 Championship (7) Oregon St.- 77 vs. (4) Gonzaga- 79 SEC Championship (13) Southern Miss- 87 vs. (3) Florida- 81 (OT) Good for Southern Miss bursting somebodys bubble, well not good for whoevers bubble they burst. That was really the only surprise of the conference championships. Glad to see my Shockers take care of business and not have to sweat out a possible NCAA bid. Now the goal is to have the other 24 conference tournament winners figured out by the end of the weekend, as I'm simming those out the rest of the week. Then next week I will starting figuring RPIs for the teams, that make take some time. Last edited by collegesportsfanms : 10-21-2014 at 10:20 PM. |

Well, as I sim through the other conference tournaments, I realize I made some huge mistakes when I selected the other teams to fill conferences. There are teams with better RPIs that got left out. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I selected the teams, but I definitely didn't select all of the best 32! Oops, I'll have to correct that mistake if I decide to do this again after the 2014-2015 season. I gotta say this is a lot of work, but it's been fun. Are you guys all enjoying it?
As far as RPI goes, I did winning percentage RPI for 4 ACC schools last night, and I don't think RPI will end up being too complicated. The formula may not be 100% exactly like what the actual RPI formula is, but it'll be darn close. If anybody has any questions, comments, concerns, fire away. |
