Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Pritchett – 322 of 542, 3033, 11:19, 67.0 rating, 27 sacks

Not a good debut. But that’s to be expected…

Rushing

RB Fones – 262 for 881, 3.36 ypc, 7 scores

Not the best year here either but you know why.

Receiving

This was a down year for our passing and catching game. Fones led my team in catches and was close to top in yards.

Blocking

Tatum had a good debut year but the rest of my line didn’t.

Special Teams

K Davis – 25 of 31, 17 of 19 PAT

Not the best year I’ve ever seen but not as much of an embarrassment as I thought we’d get

P Holdgate – 109 punts, 48.6 avg, 41 in 20.

He was one of the best in the league in avg.

We had zero returns for scores.

Defense

Hartman didn’t just lead our team in tackles he led the league by 21. Fuller was 2nd. Rieke still had 9 sacks. You can’t keep him down!

Pass Coverage

Hartman also led our team in picks with 3 and his 6 pasdef was fine. Fuller was the most at pasdef and S Ogden wasn’t embarrassed at picks either.

We draft 1.1. I interview some top talent. There is a great underrated RB but no real WRs, so I may be taking my Fones.

I make offers to bring back all of my many RFAs

I have 51 under contract. Two are free they only wanted one year deals.

I pass to week 2

Anybody free for me to make an offer for?

Yup!

I make offers to

WR Marshall Collier
OG Alec Petrovic
OT Josiah Castaneda
LB Shaun Donaldson – To return
WLB Jared Ragonesi
CB Owen Ackerman

Week 2- We sign Castaneda and Ragonesi

Week 3 – We sign Collier,

Week 4 - We sign Donaldson

Week 6 – We sign Petrovic

Week 7 – We sign Ackerman

We sign all of our targets!

Now Ackerman dropped to 51/51 and Petrovic is down to 57/57 but they’ll do well now. Plus Ackerman is my best KR still.

I’ll see you at the draft!

The 2039 NFL Amateur Draft

At the 1.1 spot I take…

RB Ronald Bonnell. He’s underrated, and looks solid already with breakaway and power in equal full measure. He’s my new Fones, and with my new OG and OT from FA to go with my two powerful ones last year my hope is that we’ll do this guy a solid.

I’ll see you at the 3.1

3.1 – There is a solid WR on the board - Harold DuBois. But I have three good WRs with Collier and my two draftees last year. He’s the Bap so I grab him.

4.1 – Og Amos Nixon is a nice run blocking specialist.

4.11 – Is DT Joe Cogdel the best choice here?

5.1 – OT Duane Mota? He’d be a solid backup. Should I go with DE Kerry Pounds? I do Mota.

We don’t have a 6th rounder.

7.1 – No kickers have gone yet. How about Brent Mergen? I take him

Rookie Lookie #1

1.1 RB Ronald Bonnell, Stanford, 65/78
3.1 WR Harold DuBois, Oklahoma, 30/60
4.1 OG Amos Nixon, Kansas State, 20/58
4.11 DT Joe Cudgel, Miami, FL, 19/57
5.1 OT Duane Mota, Illinois, 15/57
7.1 K Brent Mergen, Colorado State, 44/77

Alright!

They would would have been quite happy I'm sure, just like when The Pats went 18-1 against the Giants.

Although I suppose if any team were to do it, keeping it in the Miami family might have been welcomed!

I have 68 players on my roster.

I cut these

Wanna see my rooks?

Sure thing! Here is Bonnell my hopefully new Fones who will punch faces. He’s a power inside and out, he’s fine at the catching, and I likes him a lot. Welcome to the club Bonnell!

I don’t have a 2nd rounder but I did have a 3rd!

Here’s Dubois. Enjoy!

On the Green Page we have Pritchett and Bonnell.

Rookie Investigation

At RB, Bonnell was top. Duh. The next highest is 54/65

At WR DuBois is 6th.

At OG Nixon, after busting is 11th! Yuck. 62 would have been 4th!

At OT Mota is 6th best

At K Mergen is best

Cogdell is the 5th best Dt.

The 2039 NFL Season

I predict 6-10 (+ or minus 1) given how well we did in preseason which would be three more wins than last year.

Week 1 – Cards – We open with a home game against the Cards. We win 27-19. MVP is Pritchett, 25 of 36, 279, 3:1. Wilcox was 8 for 97 and 1. TE Carlsen the other two scores. Bonnell held to 37 yards in his debut. CB Brennan a pick. FF By Rieke, recovered by DT Zimmerman. 2 sacks by Rieke.

Ackerman is out for a few weeks and Shea will start for him.

Week 2 – At the Colts – We win 31-24. MVP is Pritchett with 26 of 34, 312 and 3:0. TE Duffy, Collier and Brandenfeis with scores. Bonnell held onto 77 yards on 17 carries. Pritchett with a rush TD. Five pasdef by CB Zaiser.

WR DuBois is out for a few weeks. Rasmussen will start for him

Week 3 – At the Rams - We lose 28-13. I’ll skip past the losses like last year. There are likely to be many.

Ackerman is back

Week 4 – Cowboys – We win 26-19. Game MVP Is Pritchett with 26 of 40, 258 and 2:0, Wilcox 8 for 150 and 1 score. RB Bonnell with a scoring catch. FF BY Fuller and Rieke, 2 sacks by Rieke, 4 pasdef by Ackerman,

We are a surprising 3-1!

Week 14 – Titans – We lose 9-34. And they were 4-8.

Week 15 – Saints – We lose 24-37

Week 16 – Texans – We lose 38-42. Now that sounds fun enough to recap. Bonnell was 26 for 98 and 2 scores. Pritchett was 25 of 35, 312 and 3:2. Fuller and Davidson with picks. 3 pasdef by Hartman.

Week 17 – At the Bucs – We lose 16-24

Well that was a backward way to get to my predicted 6-10!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Pritchett – 374 of 580, 4016, 27:18, 87.2 rating, 28 sacks

That’s not a bad year for the 2nd year man and he cleared 4k yards pretty easily. Good job! We just need to drop those picks.

Rushing

RB Bonnell – 280 for 883, 3.15, ypc, 4 TDs
QB Pritchett – 99 for 401, 2 scores

I need a better commitment to Bonnell and I need better ypc from him. I need to commit to a better O Line this year, cough OC, cough.

Receiving

Wanna see how well Braxton did this year? Here you go! New signee Collier was 2nd on my team in catches and yards. You can also see how the others have gone. Good job!

Blocking

Hey Tatum, you went backwards not forwards in KRB. What happened?

Special Teams

K Mergen – 29 of 32, Long of 53, 32 of 34 Pat

Much better. Thanks!

P Holdgate – 100 punts, 50.0 average, 46 in 20

How did Holdgate not get All Pro?

Marco Brandenfeis had 2 PR Ret tDs

Good job Marco!

Defense

As you can see Hartman led my team in tackles again and he added 4 sacks, not bad. The Machine Known as Rieke had another double digit sack year and that guy just won’t quit no matter his age! 2nd year man DT Benson did fine with 5.5 sacks.

Pass Coverage

We did not get a lot of picks by Davidson led with 3 and 6 pasdef for an undrafted rookie. Hartman led my team in pasdef with 15 – good job!

I wanna end the year now so I can to change my OC in the offseason. Andy Dalton misused my stud RB. There were games where the QB had more rushes.

The 2040 NFL Offseason

I score a 61

Retirements

None on our team!

Abe’s Boys

DE Sergio Page – Undrafted De for the Dolphins in his first year, started for me for two years across from Rieke and notched 11 sacks one year, wanted too much cash to bring back

Hall of Fame

Our first inductee in our era has made it – WR Kirk Barber!

Staff Draft

I head to draft my staff

We pick 5th

I move to OC and look at who is available. I hire the best balanced OC I can find because our balanced OC rode Fones like a pony. Do I want Smashmouth? The 2nd best OC option has Smashmouth has a suitability of 79 – Kevin Stefanski. The highest balanced is a 72 – Walter Mathews. I do Walter.

I make no other changes

Who do I have free?

CB Brennan
OC Horton

I make no franchise tags

The 2040 NFL FA Period #1

We are drafting 1.8 and I hope to find a stud OC for the picking. The best I’m not sure of is Al Lynch, Hard to Read. I also interview folks in other O Lines and maybe we’ll find another path. Then I interview a bunch of studs at CB, DE, DT. Wow there are three stud FS and CBs and none of them are overrated or very much so. I love a stud at DT, the 2nd best player in the draft.

I sign my RFAs. I have 51 under contract.

I currently have 93 mill under the cap. Anyone coming free I may wanna resign?

I extend these players:

P Holdgate

LB Hartman

I do not extend SLB Fuller, SS Shea and RB Fones who have all dropped to not being my starter anymore.

I fast forward a week and have a few interesting options in FA.

I have a 1st round trade over for a player I would move but that’s not me.

I make offers to my two FAs and TE Schwartz (50/50, would actually start for me) that’s a UFA from the Dolphins.

These players are in the FA pool

RB TJ Mahoney – 36 mill, 3 years

RG Lenny Cote – 25 mill, 3 years, 56/56

DT Jonah Joseph – 27 mill, 2 years, 68/68

MLB Alvin Stone – 34 mill, 3 years, 70/70

CB Bryan Hutcheson – 47 mill, 3 years, 60/60

That’s five players I could add to my team. Where would they fit ? I have a need at DT so Joseph fits. Stone is the best one of the FAs and is the youngest at just 5th year vet. But LB is the one place I don’t have a need at. I have Hartman at MLB, Ragonesi at WLB with a 54/54 rating although he’s 10th year vet, Fuller or Donaldson at SLB although those are 50/50 and 55/55 respectively. I could sign Stone and move him to SLB or WLB.

I make offers to Cote for OG coverage in case Petrovic at his 53/53 level, Joseph, and Stone. I’ll do my normal and add a few million bonus cash to help them sign with me. Hutcheson is 31 and unlikely to hold the starter job his cash requires. No to him. If he were cheaper? Sure! Mahoney is in his 30s ann not needed even as a backup.

Week 2 – We sign Stone. I move him to SLB.

Week 3 – Hutcheson signed with the Saints. Joseph signs with us.

Week 6 – Mahoney signs with the Raleigh Eagles.

Week 7 – Cote signs with us!

Week 9 – Brennan and Horton resign with us

Week 11 – Te Schwartz joins us!

All of our targets join us!

The 2040 NFL Amateur Draft

We’ll slow roll this as we may be getting a nice stud somewhere at 1.9.

Picking at the top spot is the Chargers, and they grab…CB Grady Hurtado. One stud gone, two left…

1.2 – Qb by Ravens - Good
1.3 – WR by Lions – Good
1.4 – CB by Ravens – Not Good
1.5 – QB by Colts – Good – Three picks left
1.6 – WR by the Cards – Good
1.7 – RB by the Giants -Good…
1.8 – OT by the Bills

That means we have some seriously good players left. I wanted to grab OC Al Lynch but he’s not the best and Hard to Read. I’d grab him at 2nd round if still available, but I have better talent here. Generational stuff.

And DT Conrad Kindred, the 2nd best player in the draft? Still there! Could he be my Jonah Joseph? He’s As Scouted.

The top player, TE Bubba Spearman is available. He looks pretty sexy. Hard to Read though but great looking guy.

We have a stud SS Dominique Schneider with As Scouted on the board as well and he could be my Alvin Thompson or my Ernie Weber.

Here’s Kindred. Like I said, he’s a stud. Good run D, great Pass rush, god pr strength, okay coverage, good play D, and great hitting, and good endurance too. There is nothing here not to like!

And here is Schneider. He’d arguably be my best D Back with the Panthers and probably better than my best S Ernie Weber by a lot.

Who do you grab here? Both would work out nicely for us. Neither are the sort of talent that falls later in the 1st round of the draft so after we start winning these sorts of players aren’t there.

I’ll make my decision in the morning - I'll think about it!

Reasons to do Schneider – Studly d backs don’t go deep. I’ve never gotten one this good to fall to the back of the 1st or later in my career. My 7th round wonder in Hutcheson was a giant boom from 55 to 71. You can’t rely on that. Schneider appears to be better than Kindred. He’s probably in his 80s to Kindred’s 70s. Our picks and such as not good and are the worst part of our defense and he would go a long way to shoring that up.

Reasons to do Kindred – High quality D Line sometimes fall, but’s rare. As a 4-3 defense we need to get pressure from our line, and that means having a great DT. I have invested picks into my D line but they weren’t here two drafts in. At Miami I was swimming in 50s and 60s DEs late or UFAs and it wasn’t as much of a need but here? It’s needed. All I have to get pressure with is my line and maybe one rusher. Kindred will do that for me.

I am leaning towards Schneider. He’s just rarer and better.

I take Schneider and head to the early 2nd round and I hope my OC Al Lynch will still be there – he’s not that good that a 1st round would need to be invested in him and Cs often fall. Last year there was a stud OC that was taken 2.10 and I would have grabbed him at 2.1 if I had a draft pick.

Our pick arrives at 2.8. Is Lynch there? Yes he is baby! I take him! I am very happy!!! Kindred wasn’t taken until 2.6 – wow.

Our 3.7 pick arrives. Who do I like here?

OT Grant Farley looks good and could grow into my starter after Castaneda has aged out of the role. He’s only 7% developed and would need some time.

4th round how about TE Percy Schultz? He looks pretty good. Is Farley still available? OG Blaine Pearce isn’t bad either but I like TE here.

5th round is here. Do I like DT Amir Henry? Or FS Clyde Stevenson? I do Henry the top DT on the board.

6th – How about DE Leonard Malone? He’s the top one on the board. I grab him.

7th – How about Theodore Boucvalt at CB? I snag him

Rookie Lookie #1

1.9 – SS Dominique Schneider, Boston College, 47/80
2.8 – C Al Lynch, Mississippi, 33/74
3.7 – OT Grant Farley, Northwestern, 10/60
4.10 – TE Percy Schultz, Auburn, 31/59
5.9 – DT Amir Henry, LA State, 31/48
6.8 – DE Leonard Malone, Purdue, 11/50
7.7 – CB Theodore Boucvalt, Indiana, 25/45

There we are!

I hope a few are growers and that my As Scouted top ten pick doesn’t bust…

Some good! Growth by Lynch and Farley and Boucvalt and that’s nice! Drops by some UFAs though, and that’s not good. I have 71 on my roster and I need to cut 11 after camp. TE Schultz looks like he might be my new starter at that position.

Let’s do it to its!

I cut these players

RB Preston Fones – He is down to 39/39 and I cannot keep him in good conscience.

TE Javier Klech
TE Hugh Sheridan
WR Shaquille Rasmussen

OC Deion Horton – He started with me and started for two years, but it’s time to let him go.

OG Wade Loria
DT Elijah Zimmerman
DE Clifton Middleton
LB Ryan Witt
LB Wendell Pritchett

SS Sammie Shea – He’s a 12 year vet with a 33/33 rating. Sorry Shea!

The 2040 NFL Preseason

I am starting Farley in the preseason but I’ll move back to Castaneda in the regular season. Barring a big giant growth.

I massage my depth charts and hand out 14 deactives

Week 2 – At the Dolphins – Hello old team! I don’t think we’re going 4-0 in this preseason! We lose 20-23. Close!

Week 3 – Chiefs – We lose 14-35

Week 4 – At the Bills – We win 16-6

Week 5 – Broncos – We win 17-9

We go 2-2 for preseason.

Rookie Lookie #3

1.9 – SS Dominique Schneider, Boston College, 47/80; 55/79; 53/73

Wanna see my rooks?

Sure!

Here’s Schneider, who looks a lot like Weber! Very poor picks, solid coverage, good run d. This pick may not have been the homerun I was looking for…

…however Al Lynch looks pretty spiffy and was the first C taken in the draft. He’s pretty sexy keen cool! I like his well-rounded ness!

On The Green Page is…no one! Wow!

Rookie Investigation

At OC Lynch is best, and is the 4th best rookie in the draft period as there are only four with an 80 or higher pot. UFA Briggs is 4th best C

At OT Grant Farley is 5th best at his spot.

DE Malone is the 6th best, DT Henry is the 5th best

After he dropped, SS Schneider is the 2nd best S taken. The best fell to 1.27 and was snagged by the Dolphins.

Our 7th round boom CB Boucvalt was 6th best.

The 2040 NFL Regular Season

My guess for this year is we’ll flip and go 10-6 now that we have another draft of talent to increase the power of my roster. We also have a new OC this year bringing a new game plan.

Week 1 – At the Saints – We lose 16-21 – Pritchett, 32 of 52, 288 and 1:0, Wilcox 8 for 128, score by Collier, pick by my rookie SS in his debut game

Week 2 – Broncos – We win 24-16. Game MVP is Wilcox with 5 for 187 and 1 score. Bonnell with a rush TD , Pritchett was 21 of 29, 329 and 2:1, Bonnell a catch score,

Week 3 – Giants- We win 36-25. Pritchett MVP, 26 of 40, 260 and 1:0. Wilcox 10 for 103. Bonnell a catching score and rush score. 2 picks by CB Zaiser and one pick six. FF by Rieke recovered by Benson. 2 sacks by Benson. 3 pasdef by Hartman.

Week 4 – 49ers – We edge them 13-9. MVP is of course DT Jonah Joseph! 2 sacks and a FF. Pritchett was 20 of 27, 210 and 1:0. WR Brandenfeis with the score. 4 pasdef by Zaiser.

We are 3-1 at the first quarter.

Despite starting slow, Bonnell has picked up speed in the offense and just got over 1000 yards with 4 games left. As has Wilcox. Can we keep up the pressure?

SS Schneider is out for a pair of weeks. Sadler starts.

SS Schneider is back! OG Tatum is out for the season and Cote will start.

Week 17 – Falcons – We are finishing strong! We win 33-6. Game MVP is DT Benson with 3 sacks. Pick six by Boucvalt. Rushing scores by Pritchett and Bonnell. Pritchett was 18 of 34, 159. 2 FF by Benson, 1 by Rieke. 5 KRb by Castaneda.

We finish 12-4! We are with the top seed in the NFC! Noice!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Pritchett – 371 of 601, 4006 yards, 22:15, 83.1 rating, 18 sacks

Again another 4k season with the balanced offense. We need to drop those picks still. And increase the TDs. He was 4th in passing yards, tied for 9th in pass TDs, 15th best QB Rating

Rushing

RB Bonnell – 331 for 1499, 4.53 ypc, 15 rush TDs

Bonnell was 2nd in yards by 16, and dominated in rush scores. No one else had double digits. Good job!

Receiving

Wilcox led our team in yards again and was our only 1000+ yard earner. He is 2nd in the league in yards. You can see the 618 yards and 6 scores for Bonnell giving him more than 2k yards from scrimmage.

Blocking

Tatum must have heard me when I criticized his play last year. The best OG in the league needs to get All Pros, and this is his first! Good job Tatum! You didn’t allow a single sack! OC Lynch was 2nd on my team and grabbed a ton of KRB. I am looking to replace Castaneda with my rookie next year after a clear down year.

Special Teams

K Mergen – 29 of 33, Long of 56, 48 of 48 PAT

Much better Mergen. Thanks!

P Holdgate – 102 punts, 46.7 avg, 42 in 20

Not as good as last year, but what would be?

Brandenfeis- 1 KR for Score

Defense

Hartman led my team in tackles and Stone was 2nd. Hartman a solid 4 sacks. I had two players get more than 10 sacks – Rieke yet again despite being 31/31 and Benson who is 45/45 but is a pass rush specialist. Like really good. He is the CB Alonzo Stone of sacks. 8 sacks for Joseph was great for him as well. We had a strong sack performance and Stone has 2.5, and you can see others with the sacks. Like Ragonesi. Rieke led my team in FF with 4.

Pass Coverage

Alvin Stone was awesome with the picks and Davidson another strong year with picks and pasdef despite his 48/48 self. Eli Zaiser looked solid and led my team with pasdef. Hartman notched 15 pasdef and was 2nd on my team. Good job crew!
