Seems to be an issue with activating the DLG. I'll have a fix posted soon.

Yes he did say updated Roster coming out at end of the season and I'm just suggesting that make it a Saved Game with Standings as on end of season because just changing Date to be in 2013 Offseason won't work because your would have to have the Date be at Draft and be able to sim in Calender at that time to.

They do just have ages in the college game as opposed to actual birthdays. The conversion process isn't really an issue. From what I can tell, I'd say the issue lies in the ages of the starting rosters in FBCB. I loaded up your draft file again and I absolutely see the age issue but it has to do with players who were never recruits in FBCB. The starting FBCB rosters also appear to be too good which is why the draft files using them are so strong and a likely reason why the former #1 recruit is a scrub. He just happens to be the 75th most talented player in the file.

really not claiming to know your game better than you do, but just looking at it players simply do age 1 year between their export from FBCB (end of their college career) and them entering the NBA, they get imported at the start of the season, but get drafted nearly a year later and thus aging 1 year between the 2 versions.
So the conversion absolutely works, but the timing might be an issue. Would it be possible for the game to shave off 1 year of every player upon importing ? That way they´d get drafted at the age they leave college.

Had a few bad seasons won the lottery got an absolute stud PF with the number one pick. Then the next year surprisingly one the lottery again despite winning 37 games and picked an absolute stud SF, combine that with offering a max contract to an amazing PG that year and a couple years later after 4 championships in a row I'm off to a 31-0 start

a stats related issue : Starting with fictional players, you get some wonky numbers like this :
Code:
Code:
basically too many 3s and too few FTs. Am afraid the FBCB imports have the same problem, even the top draftees don´t get to the line but a lot shoot 3s like nothing.

It will depend on the settings you use. With the most recent patch, you can select historical db for both the ABA and NBA leagues. Just make sure you set the Database League setting to the matching league. In this setup, the game start the NBA league as usual with players from the correct seasons. Then when the ABA starts, it will add to the ABA rosters any player who was on the roster in the first season but has not already appeared as a player in the NBA. Each season the draft pools should get filled with any rookies from the corresponding league and then any remaining spots would be filled by scrubs. Quote:
It could be that the fictional pool needs to be diluted a bit when starting a league in the middle of a career. Quote:
Right now it is factored in normally. Might need to be tweaked. Quote:
The problem is players on the default FBCB rosters are too old and too good overall. Quote:
Quote:
I made myself a note to think about an easy way of doing that.

New approach to patching which takes care of the (x86) issue. It isn't creating a new install. Its just updating the previous one.

thanks for the quick response and all your hard work on this
but if i may ... ( ) Quote:
again, part of the problem simply is that they get robbed a year of their virtual lifes by leaving school and then sitting around the FBB universe for a year before getting drafted (i checked, players at the start of the season will show at the age FBCB exports them, then at draft time most are a year older naturally) Maybe there´s issues beyond that in FBCB, but that 1 year would help plenty allready. (again, no idea if feasible but could it be coded to set every draftee back 1 year upon import?)

Recruits in FBCB will be generated as either 17 or 18 years old. This means they will play their freshman season at either 18 or 19 years of age. If that player enters the draft they should enter the draft pool at that same age as the year in the draft pool corresponds with the year they spent playing college basketball. This is what is currently happening. In the draft file posted earlier in the thread, the #1 recruit who left after one season enters the draft pool at 18 years of age. Anyone who seems to be a year too old in that file has no recruit history.

Minor thing, not a priority in the slightest....but would it be possible to remove players auto-added to the HOF? For those instances where you autosim and forget to turn off auto HOF, it'd be nice to remove people who are in there mucking it up.
No biggie, just figured I'd ask and put it way down on the list. |

For those veterans of the series who have played it on different machines, which upgrades seem to ramp up the game's speed the most? It's working fine for me thus far, but would, for example, upgrading from 4 to 8 GB of RAM help when it comes to simming multiple leagues over 100+ years?

Looks like FBCB is bumping their age just before export. So everything matches up with the what the draft file says but not what FBCB reports during the season. So....you win

The biggest impact is going to come from CPU speed. Dual Core/Quad Core won't matter much as the game only uses one core. If you have 4 GB of RAM it probably wouldn't change much to go to 8 unless you like to have 5 million things open while playing. Loading/Saving will go faster if your hard drive is SSD or raid.

Really loving this game. Great work as usual HR!
I'm a quick simmer, so getting to replay large chunks of NBA history now is a blast. I started off with the '84 Bulls and ended up getting Jordan 7 titles, but for the majority of those he played second fiddle to Tim Hardaway.. Even had a year where I went 75-7, and a streak where we were 30-1 in the playoffs. Team is now in shambles, but a great little run. So far very few complaints, having a blast... Probably start a new career soon to try out random debuts. |

Using the latest patch, I'm seeing an issue with training.
Each season, there is always one player not displayed. It's not the same player each season, but does seem to be a guard. On top of that, if I use the scroll bar to scroll down and then highlight a player, the game instead displays the name and info for the player two spots above. This doesn't happen when the scroll bar is at the top position. |

Question on the historical sim: if we create a league with historical settings and with the developmental league (which I think started in 2000ish), does that mean the D-League starts appearing around 2000ish?
Edit: Think I just answered my own question. (Finally playing around with this for the first time.) Looks like D-League starts when historical league does. So to start the DL around 2000ish, should I leave it inactive to start the career and then activate that league during offseason after 99, say? thx Last edited by bryce : 04-14-2013 at 06:59 PM. |

Starting in the past and assuming you change nothing at all the historical USDL should be become active on its own when you reach the 2001 season. It shouldn't start any other time unless you change the first season value for the league under the league setup.

It seems my best players always average 31-33 MPG because they foul too much. Using the historical db, for instance, my 1982 squad's top 6 guys in MPG all average over 3 FPG, with the top guys being 3.7,3.8,3.9

After buying the game today and playing with the fictional rosters Ive come to realize that 1.The fictional players are really good 2. There are a couple 19 year vets generated who are blue/blue. 3. After a couple years with the FBCB imports the league will start to normalize itself once the original fictionals are gone and the stats become better.
I like that there are bust in this game the number 1 overall draft pick from my FBCB ended up becoming nothing more than a role player going through 4 teams while the number 3 went on to have a hall of fame career. Last edited by yeah826 : 04-14-2013 at 09:38 PM. |

That is the expansion eligible for lottery setting in the game. If this was set to no and the expansion team was in the top 3 let me know. This applies only to the lottery btw.

Certain things were done to improve speed so part of it is probably code based. I can definitely see how trading for draft picks might be easier with finances off. Ultimately I'll probably add some settings that allow you to tweak how the trade AI values certain things. I also encourage anyone who sees a trade that shouldn't go through to send me the save and trade details so I can take a look at it.

This is a tough one. If he were cut by the DLG team he wouldn't go to waivers and it would say they cut him in the transactions. The only places for the main team to cut him are behind sections of code that guarantee the team is either CPU or using CPU roster. There was a problem with this in the beta that was eventually fixed so I've combed over this code a bunch of times. If you still have the full league transactions from the season that might help too.

Fired up the 1990 Sonics squad with Payton as a rookie and Kemp in his second year. That is a loaded roster with Dale Ellis, X-Man, McKey, etc. Just wanted to say I'm enjoying the game and the historical facet is simply remarkable. Well done!

Not sure if this is a bug but it's the first time I'm seeing it. Bringing up the trade screen midseason in 1984, the Spurs have duplicate picks through 1986. So it says 1984 Round 1 Pick (Spurs), 1984 Round 1 Pick (Spurs), 1984 Round 2 Pick (Spurs), 1984 Round 2 Pick (Spurs) and so on...

In case anyone is curious how to do this: 1. Go into My Documents/GDS/FBB3/Historical Leagues/North America/Teams 2. Go into Memphis & Oklahoma City.csv 3. Copy down the entries for the team prior to moving 3a. If you created a backup of the team.csv file, don't store it in the /Teams directory or else you'll get an expansion franchise in that season. |
