They'll trade it for a malcontent lineman or receiver.

What's with that deadhead looking d-coordinator they got? He may be the special teams coach perhaps? Dude needs a fucking haircut and a shave. It's not suprising that the team doesn't have any discipline when you got yahoos like that running around on the sideline.

The fact that this kind of thread exists at all = great fun. The fact that it involves the Raiders = gold.

Blowing a 21-3 lead proves the Raiders really do have a "commitment to excellance"

Yep. Walsh coached some ridiculously poor college teams after his Raiders stint, but he hasn't been inolved with pro ball in ten+ years.

Next week it is the 49ers across the bay. Some quick Raiders stats for fun:

The Raiders are:

averaging 177 yards of total offense per game. They are averaging 70.3 passing yards per game. They have 37 first downs in 3 games. Of those, 8 came by penalty. They are averaging under 5 yards per pass attempt. Their completion percentage? Try 38%.

This isn't bad, this is taking things to an entirely new level.

Maybe it's just me being a smug Broncos fan, but I think the Raiders are fun to watch right now. Many franchises (Arizona, Detroit, San Francisco, Cleveland, etc.) have had their share of pathetic teams in recent years, but they can be pretty painful to watch. It's fun to watch these Raiders be horrible, though. The 2006 Raiders may not be the worst team in NFL history, but they're the most entertaining terrible team I've ever seen. If someone has trouble understanding the phrase "it's so bad, it's good," they only need to watch this team.

With the new "flexible scheduling" that the NFL will do later this year, I hope to see the Raiders on national television every week in December. This has to happen.

I am not worry with the 0-3 start.

Teams in the past started 10-2 (Jets) and didnt make the playoffs.
Miami (9-2) and didn't make the playoffs.

What matters is a strong finish. I feel like the Raiders will turn it around.

Ummm. . . jb, you can be a loyal fan and still realize your team sucks horribly. I love the CU Buffs and the Oklahoma State football programs. God help me, I do.

And you know what? The Buffs aren't turning it around this year. They'll be lucky to win 3 games. I expect they'll be better in future years as I think the coach is a pretty good one, but loyalty doesn't mean you have to lose your eyesight, does it?

TroyF is wise. If your team sucks, admit it. Rooting for your team even when it sucks is a sign of a loyal fan.

Rooting for a team that sucks and trying to pretend it's going to be awesome is just delusional.

I'm a Buffs fan as well and this year has been rough...and probably isn't going to get a lot better. I'm dreading the Nebraska game. I agree though that Hawkins is a good coach and hopefully in 3 years we'll have a winning program again.

Not to thread jack or anything. The Raiders are bad...I heard a stat today that they've been outscored 40 - 3 in the second half of games. You know, when coaching staffs make adjustments and what-not.

I've been a Rams fan since 1968. Unfortunatly that does include the 1990's.
In the '90s the Rams had some good preseasons, IIRC they even went 4-0 once or twice. My reaction at the time was not "look out here come the Rams!" My reaction was "IT'S ONLY PRESEASON" I could still look at the team and realize they sucked.

If I were you I'd beg SkyDog for my edit button to be returned (while assuring him you would never delete a thread you started again) and then promptly delete this thread. Sure you'd be flamed and cursed by the masses, maybe even boxed for a week or two, but it would sure beat the hell out of coming here for the next 13 weeks and taking the abuse that is bound to come.

Although it wont be as good as the Raiders going 0-16, but IF they win a game it'll be fun to watch JB and Raiders Army brag about how they are turning it around.

Yes, but only 3 teams since 1992 ever made the playoffs after starting 0-3. [Chargers 1992 after going 0-4, Lions 1995, Bills 1998]. Think about that one instead. And that usually happened when the teams still looked good in their losses. To the contrary, Oakland has been el stinko.

Did anyone hear Randy Moss get interviewed on Fox sports radio today? Chris Myers asked him if he was worried and he said no, that becasue nobody else seemed worried about how bad the team was he wasnt going to either. He said alot more idicating he couldnt care less about how bad they were and how bad team morale is, but I cant remember exactly what was said.
Things are looking up for Oakland.......to get the #1 pick

I've tried to stay out of this, but jesus man, stop feeding the fire. There are some serious problems on the team yet you still insist on spouting your hyperbole. Give it a rest and stop looking at the Raiders through rose colored glasses.

It's fine to talk about the improved run game and how the defense and special teams had a bad day. It's fine to talk about how Andrew Walter was better than his stats. But please don't predict a turnaround at this point. That's as bad as starting a thread talking about the preseason.

I'm as bad as you believing in the preseason as some sort of measuring stick, but that's mostly because I didn't see any of the games other than the Eagles matchup where their first team destroyed us. I got sucked into the optimism, but at this point I'm really at a loss to say anything about the rest of the season.

If you're a true fan you admit defeat but keep watching. I'm a die hard Lions fan, and I know we can't turn it around this year but at least we're doing some stuff offensivley that I haven't seen since the days of #20. Admit defeat. Doesn't mean you can't keep watching and holding out hope.

Coming from a panthers fan that suffered through the 1-15 chris stinky weinke season, IMO the raiders of this year look WORSE than that panther team, and that scares me, cause the panthers were dreadful and lost 15 STRAIGHT that year after beating the vikings in the opener... this may very well be the first 0-16 team.
