I haven't seen the picture, but lurker told me that the rug inside the compound was the same type of rug as the one we just got rid of a little over a month ago. When I put that rug on top of the trash bins in the alley, someone took it and put it in their truck, so I figure there's at least a chance, even if it's a crazy small chance, that it was the same rug.

Most of these football players are pretty limited in the education department. Mendenhall is simply a dullard. I think we need to embrace the dumb jock reality and just look past this stuff (or look at it with amusement). Either way. But a Twitter account doesn't make someone some kind of legitimate social or political commentator.

Adrian Petersen made the lockout=slavery comment, but Mendenhall backed him on it.

FWIW, the local media are mostly saying Mendenhall is a pretty soft spoken guy in interviews, and comes off, normally, as pretty intelligent. But, I do agree, who cares what he says. The same as an musician or actor voicing their opinion-- go make a movie, write a song, score a touchdown. I don't care about your political views, just entertain me.

Edit- he also had a gem to the effect of:

Ladies, going down on a man is your choice. But he's gonna find someone else who will if you don't.

I can not believe they are being put in a position where they feel the need to justify killing him. This is the fucking SEALs in Pakistan. Not the NYPD.

I don't think it is right to celebrate the killing of him and even I think two in the head was the right way for him to go, taking him in and having a trial never would have worked. Fuck that, kill the bastard. Good job Seal Team 6.

Oh yeah and I don't believe in the death penalty either. (been back and forth on it for years)

I'm not celebrating anything about Osama Bin Laden. I'm celebrating the fact that he can't plot to kill any more Americans.

Wrong answer. The highly trained operative would put a 2 or 3 round burst into your head from their silenced weapon. It's quicker, quieter, and much less risky to the operative. Only Hollywood and some novelists believe the knife to the back or even throat from behind is a quick, silent, clean way to kill.

Double tap. One to the chest, one to the head.

Come to think of it, I think they did that to Osama.

And when a) Mendenheadcase didn't mention a gun, and, b) the highly trained operative (insinuating SEAL) was such an appropriate reference that it had to get worked into the loop of candidates.

The most insulting part of Mendenhall's rant was that he actually thinks that the planes didn't take down the towers. And he didn't even address that.

Crude is down like 6.75 a barrel today, and like 10 bucks for the week. I drive a ton for my job, and reimbursement isn't the greatest. Hopefully it can reduce down closer to the 3 dollar range, than the 5 dollar one. Otherwise it's going to be a shitty summer as I look for another job.

Don't ever tell me that the market is always rational. There's no reason why oil should drop like that just because OBL was killed. There's still the same amount and growing demand.

Don't know. But they are definitely playing down the significance of the chopper though. Even with it destroyed we can tell from photos it was likely a classified stealth copter, think of what information they can glean from the actual remains.

I just don't see us blabbing we snuck into another country and took out OBL at least right away unless we had to which the chopper going down forced us to do.

+1. After 10 years I think we want everyone to know we got him.

It wasn't someone from his inner circle we were able to buy\bribe. It wasn't some mercenary or local government we were able to pay to do it. It was the US sending a loud message that eventually we can get you so hide well and always look over your shoulder.

When I first heard OBL was dead as a news lead early monday morning on CNN I expected to hear he had died of natural causes. I assumed it was Al Quida sp(?) making the announcement as a way of showing that after 10 years the US was unable to get him and that Allah had protected his faithful servant to the end. I was surprised and impressed to learn it was us that killed him. Even more so finding out we went where we "weren't supposed to go" to get him.

I could be wrong but I can't see us keeping it a secret.

Yeah there is word that it was a specialized Blackhawk being used in action for the first time that has stealthlike capabilities.

Or, if you want to follow the same reasoning skills as the birfers, trufers, and 'I doubt Bin Laden is dead' people...the remains of that helicopter could just be an elaborate ploy to get the Chinese military to start spending all their money on stealth helicopter technology and ends up bankrupting China.

I think its going to take more than a stealth helicopter to bankrupt them. The space plane project has hope though.

I didn't realize the copter crashed and had the tail sheared off. Hell of a job by the pilot keeping everyone alive. It may have still technically been a stall, but that sounds much more severe than what was first reported.

Not if you use birfer and trufer logic.

Maybe I'm giving these idiot terrorists too much credit, but is it possible these computers purposely had faulty info placed on them to deter from an actual attack? With no internet connection, etc., why would they even be using these computers for much since no communication could/would be sent between them?

The train plot, while severe, just seems like "minor league" compared to what they did 9/11/2001. Obviously that's understating the deaths that would have occured, but it just seems like they'd try and pull off something "greater." And the fact that it was still in the planning stages??? Hmmm, maybe if it was a ploy it would have been fully developed????

Knowing that OBL could perhaps be captured one day, would they purposely leave stuff like this out for us to find and "discover?" Almost Art of Warish...

I just hope there isn't something FAR LARGER in the works...the train thing is definitely frightening, but being in Pakistan...that worries me more about WMD.

Am I nuts? Perhaps I'm way overthinking it and giving these "let's burn tires! That'll show 'em" idiots too much credit.

I think OBL was always "planning things", not unlike how you or I might fantasize about winning the lottery.
