Facebook has made me so cynical. I don't believe any story until we actually see people there/people who actually know recounting it.

Not sure I understand why they're reporting which hospitals have injured victims and what condition they're in. I mean, I suppose people want to know, but just seems like a security risk? I dunno...

Or maybe a ploy to see if they can get a suspect to show up to multiple hospitals to observe the results of his crime.

edit: sorry, quoted the wrong post originally

I wondered the same thing. This seems like the kind of thing that doesn't need to be reported. Give the numbers, but not the locations.

Maybe I shouldn't have gone on a 'Criminal Minds' watching frenzy this past weekend.

Pretty interesting stuff here. Someone on the internet went through photos of the crowd and found someone carrying a bag just like the one that was used for the bombing. May be just a coincidence that he's carrying the same bag, but still pretty interesting.

I'm guessing they'll eventually find the person through pictures. Just no way that person wasn't photographed at some point.

I know the FBI has requested copies of any video anyone took in the vicinity of the finish line. I'm sure before long they'll have a crazy 360 video representation of every square inch of the area.

When I was looking at what he had done, I felt like I was looking at a real-life 'Where's Waldo?'. The third pic where he found the guy was pretty impressive. Thank God for hi-def photos.

If that really is the bomb, it's a blessing it didn't go off earlier.

At least a couple of things seems wrong about that particular pic (based on what I've read/heard).

1) there's no obvious damage to the mail box, at least not the extent you would expect if that was literally ground zero

2)FBI special agent in charge said yesterday "... it was determined that both of the explosives were placed in a dark colored nylon bag or backpack." a statement that came after they did reconstructions at Quantico.

It's hard to tell. It's not a powerful bomb, wherever it was. It only knocked over two of those temporary fence things.

Pretty sure his name is Richard Jewell.

If this is your thing you can find about ten different suspects here: http://www.reddit.com/r/findbostonbombers/

Yeah, this wasn't a bomb powerful enough to do major infrastructure damage. It was more a simple anti-personnel mine.

The worse Facebook share I have seen yet is the one that shows a teacher who died in the Newton shooting and one who allegedly died in the Boston Marsthon bombing. Of course, today we find out that the third death was a Chinense national. It is just amazing the stuff people will believe.

That place is looking a little scary. But, the pics of the circuit board suggesting that it was a RC controller is very interesting.

This is not the bomb. If it went off how would the railing wrap around the mailbox.

List of dead/injured, which will be updated as they get more info. Quite a few lost limbs. Jeff Bauman Jr. is the guy from the photo with the lost legs being wheeled out by Carlos Arredondo (who pinched Bauman's femoral artery to stop the bleeding - that may have saved his life, he's in stable condition now).

At work so reliant on reports of people watching, but they apparently said they have the bomber placing the second bomb on video from a department store camera.

Apparently significant State Police activity at MIT in the past hour, could be unrelated.

Both the significant progress thing and the suspect thing (which goes beyond just a video, and goes as far as "identified a suspect") are being reported by CNN's John King. That's more credible than 99% of reporting on this, but hopefully the relevant authorities will themselves put something on the record soon.

I wonder what the impact would be if it were someone from 4Chan that made the identification.

As far as I know, there's some (nothing like the UK though), but in the business surveillance cameras in that part of town have to have a pretty broad reach all by themselves.

AP reporting that an arrest imminent, and the suspect will be arraigned shortly after.

Well, if the guy identified by whoever posted the photos above is not the guy the police ultimately identified/arrested, I'm sure that will be suspect of conspiracy theories forever.

Considering the close link between 4Chan and Anonymous, and law enforcement's disdain for Anonymous's tactics, it would be interesting to see how it would play out.

@Reuters - Boston Marathon bomb investigators do not yet have name of suspect they believe was seen in...

There is lots of conflicting information on what they actually have/know. We'll see.

And then there was the "Saudi national" running from the scene, and the other one that was being "guarded" at the hospital.

We'll see though - if we can't trust CNN's headlines there's basically no point to following any breaking news.

Also just reported that the suspect was picked up by US Marshalls and taken to Federal Courthouse. I believe they said that was reported by AP.
