These guys are sloppy as hell. If either are going to challenge Washington, they'll have to get their acts together.
And Carrie Underwood? Huge MEH.

Are you still being the angry young dude? The response was to RKG in implying that QB should be more special when running with the ball than a RB, which should not be the case (as Scarecrow described). |

1) If you look at the play from behind, he clearly isn't pushing the guy backward, he's shoving him toward the Bucs end zone. Watch where Smith falls. 2) It was UNNECESSARY. Using your logic, how on Earth is he going to stop the QB from going anywhere there? Look at the QB's step, he's headed out of bounds. He doesn't attempt to grab him and throw him backwards, he shoves him. He wasn't trying to save a yard, he was trying to get in a shot. 3) Even when he is chasing after him, it is clear that Smith is going out of bounds before he even picks up his left leg. He's on his way out, there is nowhere else for him to go. He's not cutting back in, it's filled with Bucs. 4) Again, this is a late hit if it's a RB, WR or QB. This same play happens about 5 or 6 times a game and about once in every 4 or 5 games some moron decides to take the shot and gets called for it 90% of the time. 5) I'll ask again, what does he have to gain here by putting his hands on the QB and shoving him? He had nothing to gain there and everything to lose. . . he lost. Hopefully he learns from it and becomes a better player. If he doesn't, that's on him. |

I am not a Cowboys fan and am not a Tony Romo fan. . . but that guy gets so much heat for things other people are responsible for it borders on insanity. He makes enough dumb decisions to blame him for the ones he makes, there is no need to bash him for his WR's mistakes (which that was IMHO) |

Watching that video, I think the Smith was much more questionable than the Kap one. It was a push and it's really hard to let up in the moment like that. He had no way of knowing Smith wasn't going to turn it in inside for an extra couple of years until right before he delivered the push.

Yes, I have. . . and I love how that question always comes up when discussing late hits, helmet to helmet hits or holding up on the QB. People use that excuse over and over and over again. It's too fast, they can't stop themselves, they don't (SCREAAAAAMMMMMM) Please, stop. If it were impossible to control, everyone would be getting suspended. How many helmet to helmet hits did you see in a single week in college last year? How many helmet shots did QB's get 5 years ago? That play happens in game after game every week and only a handful of guys decide to hit the player running out of bounds. I believe there were 10 targeting penalties issued in college football in week 1. (3 of which were overturned on review) Not sure how many in week 2, but I didn't see any watching games all day. It just isn't that hard to NOT hit a guy in the head or out of bounds. Good players figure this out every week. |

ok enough of that. . .
good news for the Cowboys: they actually intercepted two of Eli's mistakes, that is what you have to do if you want to beat the Giants. bad news for the Cowboys: You only have a three point lead. As I typed that, they scored and now have a ten point lead. They better stay ten up, we all know what happens if it's close in the fourth. |

But it wasn't a dirty hit at all. The question is whether or not it is late. I think that one was close enough where the defender may not have been able to pull back. Yes, players now a days basically have to play not to get the penalty and just give that extra yard or two if the player decides to take to avoid a penalty. So it was a bad idea to put himself in that position knowing how the refs call games, but I wouldnt have thrown the flag there personally. Its nothing like a penalty where you lead with your helmet, thats something the player can decide not to do. Last edited by Danny : 09-08-2013 at 09:41 PM. |

Witten's TD means every one of my fantasy players had at least 1 TD today.
Thus, I've now had the best score I'll have all season. |

Agree. The fact that Smith had earlier run to the sidelines and then cut back in for additional yardage also doesn't help the Bucs here. |

No comments on Boldin getting away with the push-off on the key 3rd-down conversion late?

Hope the Giant is ok, but that play right there goes into what I am talking about. Keep your head up, that doesn't happen. Lower your dome, and you take a chance on hurting yourself and the players around you. If the Cowboy doesn't duck there, that's 15 yards for them.

Sigh - so Cowboys. Giants have 10 on field, confused as heck (like Cowboys were on Cruz TD pass) and Dallas not only has WR drop ball but pick up a holding call. This team can be so frustrating to watch.

There were missed calls on both sides of the GBY-SFO game, I don't think any one call or missed call significantly changed the outcome.

They would have went for it on 4th down anyway, I doubt they kick the field goal there (which is why McCarthy took the penalty in the first place to move it to 3rd and 6 instead of 4th and 1). |

This is the worst Giants game I have seen in 20 years, and I was at the game where Eli threw 4 first half INTs against the Vikings, 3 pick sixes.

Pretty good weekend of football. Both the Lions and Michigan win and I had a nice setup with the Lions game on the TV with the Red Zone channel playing on my monitor from the TV upstairs. Solid coverage.
A few observations from the Lions game: - The Lions are still the Lions. They will make dumb plays and will be infuriating. The stupid personal foul on the pick six, holding on 4th and 1, Brandon Petigrew in general, some personal fouls and all of that. - When the Lions went 10-6 two years ago a big part of that was Jahvid Best. Their record with him in the line-up and without was pretty stark. Reggie Bush adds that element to their offense. It was good to see. - The first play of the season aside, the defensive line looked great. The backfield... Not so much. - I am still not sure about the first touchdown being called back. Calvin caught the ball, had two feet down and the ball crossed the plane of the endzone in his hands. I thought that was enough. That crossing the plane of the endzone was it. Oh well.
