Giants starting pitching has not been lights out the 2nd half of this season unlike 2010 and it is showing in the playoffs.

High drama in Baltimore. Fun to watch. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to see all of it with 5:30 tomorrow coming early and all

It's looking like the visiting teams(better seeds) are not having much problem with the 2-3 format. Reds about to win 2, Yanks about to win Game 1 and Nats won Game 1. Only the Tigers held serve at home and they might have been the favorite in that series anyway. Once the better seed wins one of those road games, the series swings heavily in their favor with 3-4-5 at home. And if they win both road games it's virtually over.

So, two decent innings tonight notwithstanding, did anybody ever figure out what was wrong with Lincecum this year? Motion/delivery out of synch? Physically wore down/out? Some hidden injury?

Yeah, I know, if anybody here knew what it was they'd probably be rich from delivering that secret to the west coast ... I'm just asking about the prevailing opinion I guess.

It's gotta be an injury, right? Otherwise, how can a pitcher completely and totally break down in one year?

Wheels come off for the O's in the 9th. For whatever reason, I'm not devastated and actually feeling good about the series.

I turned it off and headed to bed when Martin hit that home run. At that point, I was pretty sure it wasn't going the Os way and it was just too late because of the rain delay.

Tho, oddly enough, looking at Fangraphs- still 16.8% chance to win the game. I would have thought it lower than that after a home run in the 9th.

He showed up this season WAY underweight. That seems to be the prevailing guess out here.

Fuck. The. Yankees.

I have an unhealthy hatred of the Yankees already. This series is only going to make it worse.

If there was any other reason needed that pot didn't make Lincecum worse, it may be this (no pot = less need for munchies).

Pagan, Scutaro and Pence are combined 1 for 25 so far in the series.

Doesn't matter who the Giants have on the mound if they are going to hit like the 2011 Giants.

Ugh, Game 2 was depressing; they just killed the crowd, and the Giants offense goes back to being unable to score in a whorehouse.

Awesome game by the Cardinals, Beltran was a beast and Jon Jay's catch was one of the best I've seen.

Haven't people been clamoring for afternoon playoff and World Series games for years (at least I've heard it often)? It seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Great game. Lynn was incredible.
I would feel much better if we win game 3. But the way we were hitting today, Im feeling a little better about our chances.

Why is this rule so easily exploitable?

Quote:
The St. Louis Cardinals removed Jaime Garcia from their NL Division Series roster Tuesday, a day after he lasted only two innings in his Game 2 start because of an ailing shoulder.

An MRI revealed the left-hander has a strained rotator cuff and inflammation in his throwing shoulder. He'll be replaced by rookie right-hander Shelby Miller.

But he can't return to the roster prior to the WS so I don't see a huge issue with it.

They get to throw Miller on the postseason roster, even though he wasn't on the 40 man until September 12th. It's a really dumb set of rules. "These are the postseason roster restrictions unless X happens..."

Hoping Chapman walks four guys as that is the only way the Giants are going to score.

Sadly I think if the Reds don't score here they will lose the series. Hate the pitching going forward without Cueto and Latos on short rest with Leake starting game four or five and having to face Cain again.

Bochy's not really much of a bunter, to his credit , and Belt hasn't Bunted much all year. Plus, Pence was hobbled, so a bunt may move a slow Posey to 3b, but Pence was likely to be out at 2b on any bunt anyway. Also at this point, Belt is the 2nd or 3rd best "hitter" on the Giants.

Is it leake for sure? I heard Dusty say it could be Latos, in which case they can keep Cueto on the roster (rather than lose him for a potential NLCS). Also, Latos beats the Giants like a red-headed stepchild.
