The Broncos-Ravens game was terrific but there were two things that kept it from being one of the greatest games I've ever watched.

1) The Broncos offensive playcalling was horrific. Start with the 52-yard field goal at the end of the first half. Yes, Prater has a leg, but that's on a nice day, now when it's 6 degrees. They have the ball on the 35, and if they get the first down they win the game. Then they have a similar decision late in the game with a 3rd-and-eight. Instead of letting Peyton pass for a first down, they go with a no-chance run. Yes, it runs the clock, but a first down wins the game and only saves Baltimore about 30 seconds. Then not letting Peyton try for a field goal with 31 seconds and two timeouts was the final straw.

2) Greg Gumbel is a game manager. I have my issues with Gus Johnson, but someone like him or even a Dick Engerg (from the San Diego-Miami classic) could have added some drama. Gumbel is great if you have a run-of-the-mill game, but his call of this game was so understate and subdued that it didn't match the excitement of the game.

Atlanta up 10 early, two drives ended for Seattle in Atlanta territory, one with a punt and one with a fumble. They need to tackle better if they want to stay in this one. There isn't an RG3 getting hurt to stall the Falcons defense.

I still don't think there's any experienced Falcon fan who is ready to relax ... or at least, I don't think there should be.

Depends on if Seattle can put points on the board before half.

First some thoughts from yesterday:

The Broncos deserved to lose the game, but the Ravens are not a very good football team. I'd be stunned if the Ravens beat either the Patriots or the Texans next week. Rahim Moore actually had a good year. He picked a very, very horrific time to have a brain lock.

Onto the second game, I don't think I have ever been as shocked at a single player as I was last night. Kaepernick was a freakin demi God. Rogers was good, but not great. One of the single greatest games by a player I have ever seen in any sport, any situation.

Now today:

Please repeat after me, the Seahawks are a different team away from Seattle.

Turnovers for the Hawks this year, by them and forced:

Home: 6 turnovers, 20 turnovers forced. +14
Road: 11 turnovers, 9 forced. -2

They destroy teams based on the turnover battle and their home field. They were getting punked last week until RG3 was hurt. (not the second injury, the first right before the second TD.

They are a VERY good football team, but they were always destined to lose to the first good team they played on the road. Maybe they get it figured out next year, but this years team is not it. The only reason most people thought this would be a close game is because the Falcons played badly toward the end of the year.

There was no way the Hawks were winning three straight on the road. Fantastic season, fantastic future, really fun team and a well coached team. . . but not the best team in the league.

Man. This is why I wanted Seattle. They are nowhere close to the same team when on the road.

Someone asked Ryan what the difference was this year, and he mentioned this was the first year things finally clicked for him and he felt comfortable. That offense is tearing up the best scoring defense in the league.

Damn this could have been a great game if they scored at the end of the half. WE still may get an EPIC one but Seattle's D needs to make a stop here and not let Atlanta get another 8 minute drive.

Can't imagine the damage this would do to Atlanta if they choke this way. They essentially just need a FG to put it away.

It would be completely devastating for the franchise and would cement the 'can't win in the playoffs'. I can imagine a decent amount of changes being made.

Atlanta seemed like that lifted on the throttle just a bit and then Ryan drove the cart in the ditch. Need a sustained drive after the punt to run clock. If Seattle gets the ball back, I like their chances.

Hmm, looks like that one was more on White than Ryan after seeing the replay.

And what is up with the Falcons' punter? Last couple have been ... um, I guess I can generously suggest not textbook?

Think Pete would like to re-think those two red zone positions in the first half that resulted in no points despite not turning it over? Seems he trails by two field goals ATM.

Not getting points before half is really starting to hurt. A FG to tie versus a TD to win.
