Somewhat enjoying the AR-GA game with hogs up 7-2 in 2Q.
Best I can describe it is "sloppy" so far. |

The thing that's so weird about this LSU - Miss St game is that I don't think anyone knows what to think about. Is it LSU losing their star players from last year? Is it the coordinators leaving? Is Mississippi State good? Is LSU unprepared for the air raid? Is it just COVID variables?

5'11 190 pound walk-on qb comes in and totally wrecks Arkansas. You can have all the stars in the world, but a kid with heart and guts can still outplay you.

I never really thought AR defense could go from -100 to +100. The 1H was because of GA QB, his replacement pretty much proves that. AR offense continues to suck eggs.
I guess we know who will be starting next week for GA. (I want Petrino back dammit!) |

On the bright side for their fans at least today there were times when a reasonable portion of the roster looked as though they'd seen a football prior to kickoff. It's been about a year since that could be said.

Oklahoma loses to Kansas State, and Texas down big in the fourth versus Texas Tech. Big 12 already done?

No joking, wtf happened to FSU. Won the title in 2013, were in the playoff in 2014, 10 wins in 2015 and 2016. How did they fall so far so quick?

If he can keep the in state kids, that will go a long way to being successful. Right now, they cannot keep those kids around. Iowa gets absolute studs out of the St. Louis area. And now has their eyes on a Lutheran North 4* RB.

My favorite play that I can't find video of is the Vandy safety vs. Texas A&M that happened when A&M tried to run a punt out of their own end zone (which I didn't even know you can do), and then a guy got called for a block in the back in the end zone. I can't find a replay of the play, or even a replay of the game at this point.

Unfortunately, my favorite play of the day was a tweet about an Iowa practice. Sigh, when will it be October 23rd?
But that Clown play was a close 2nd. Another great day of college football. Watch SEC, there is a new sheriff in town.

Coastal Carolina back in action today against Arkansas State, who they lost to by 1 point last year, and was the other Sun Belt team to beat a Kansas Big-12 team this season. Down 14-7 after the 1st quarter Coastal scored 17 unanswered points and never really looked back in a big 52-23 win today!
This redshirt freshman has really made the difference-threw his first INT today, but otherwise was great 20-29 for 322 yards and 4 TD's, It's nice to feel good about Coastal Carolina football again

The Bison are playing today in their only game of the fall, and the last game for Trey Lance. They are up against Univ of Central Ark. Who is 2-1, while the Bison are playing in their only game and look like a team that hasn't played at all. Lance started out cold as ice, but he's gradually warming up and the offense is warming with him. I expect the team to gradually crush UCA ( who finished ranked 11 last season) as the game wears on. Bison fans freaked the fuck out this week when the school dropped the attendance from 10k to only family. Like OMG THEY ARE CRUSHING OUR FREEDUMS! level. Rumor has it that the FCS is hoping they can play in the spring, but it'll be really freaking weird if they do. Currently ahead 10-6 as we head to the half.
I was on the record last season when he started that Lance would go down in history as the best Bison QB of all time, and I think under normal circumstances that would be true. The kid is head and shoulders more talented than Wentz and Stick.

Ok Bama, now that you've shown your superiority you have to let A&M back in it a bit -- they're a ranked SEC team, after all.

Given what he did for the team, there's no way it's shit, but....he isn't Lance. And Lance has thrown the first (and hopefully last) interception of his collegiate career. The Bison find themselves down 20-18 in the 4th. The big winning streak is in jeopardy. With no home fans and no energy this game looks awful. Exactly what you'd think a team playing at home with no fans their first game of the year would like.

And the good guys are back on top, as Lance runs for his second TD of the day.

Well, we had to come from behind a couple times, and the team looked uninspired for large parts of the game, but they woke up enough, and kept the pressure on to get the W, 39-28. They run their streak to 38 games now.
It would have been pretty shitty to have the streak broken at home, with no fans, in an inconsequential game, in an inconsequential season.

Hogs have their first SEC win in 20 games (so about 2.5 years)!
Saw it last night and the defense won the game. Our offense had sparks here and there but really sputtered later in the game. I thought the defense would run out of gas but it didn't and did a great job. Not sure I'm a believer yet as the defense did get shredded in the 2H of the GA game but looking forward to Auburn litmus test next. |

Georgia looked legit last night. 2 more weeks and the B1G starts. Cannot wait.

For as nice a story as in-state native Stetson Bennett ending up as the (current) UGA starting QB is, the revisionist history that's starting to develop is a bit hard to take.
Yes, he started preparing for the season as the 4th or 5th QB on the depth chart but this "he didn't pout, he didn't transfer, he just waited for his moment" narrative I'm seeing today requires a helluva lot of suspension of disbelief. He DID transfer, to a JUCO for a year. He returned to Athens when he got only 2nd & 3rd tier offers from anywhere else. This isn't a case of "oh I just knew if I was patient ..." or anything of the sort. edit to add: Apparently I'm not alone in my rising nausea https://twitter.com/SDS/status/1312584262722428929?s=20 It's a poll from Saturday Down South @SDS Who is the most important player in UGA program history? #GoDawgs The options are Stetson Bennett and Herschel Walker

You are right, Jon. He must likely went back to UGA because it might give the best resume to maybe coach later. I doubt he had any idea he would end up starting.
