Whoever made that call should be fired before the end of the game.

Agree two teams one cheaters and the other braggarts. What a crappy SB from the NFL standpoint but really with all the crazy ass controversy this season it is the only way it should end.

+1

A case where the offensive coordinator thought he was some kind of fucking genius. Run Lynch. You still had a timeout if he doesn't get in.

Chances are Belichick calls one if he doesn't anyway. You are on the one yard line. 3 tries. Slam Lynch. Repeat.

Congrats to the Pats and their fans.

I hope everyone who threw a punch in that stupid-ass scrum at the end gets fined to the maximum allowed. And, if the CBA allows it, suspended for the first game next season. Totally pointless and classless. Takes away from a good game.

Agreed. Though I think Wilson and the Seahawks have the ability to be really special. A bunch of undrafted free agents receivers and they pushed the Patriots to the brink. If not for an unprecedented piss poor playcall, it may very well be the Seahawks with the trophy.

Completely agree. Just stunned by a complete mental breakdown by the Seahawks on all levels. If the OC or whoever called that play has a job Monday, I'll be shocked. As an owner, how could you live with that?

Gained some respect for the Pats tonight, and that's saying something for me. Still hate them, but at least I respect them.

...or even if you decide to get cute and pass, why not a "TE block and release" play that's typically wide open in this type of "everyone expects the run" scenario. The absolute worst thing you can do there is call for a slant into the heart of a stacked up run defense because of the potential for a deflection. Just horrible, grade school level play calling there.

If I was Pete Carroll, I'd sure be tempted to fire Darell Bevell tomorrow.

Yes, it was a stupid play call, but firing him would be equally stupid. This is the guy that got you one play from the Super Bowl.

Stunned by that play call. What a terrible mistake. The Pats were likely going to let Lynch walk in anyway.

As for the post game scrum....blame it on emotions and let it go. I'm sure they were pretty devastated and emotionally wrecked at that moment in time. It happens.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the Seahawks once Lynch moves on. Because much of their success is due to his ability to move a pile. I think Lynch is about the closest I've seen to Earl Campbell.

I wonder if NE would have just let him score on a run so they could attempt to get into tying FG position. Probably not, but you gotta wonder. They would have had 3 timeouts, 20 seconds or so. and maybe needed to get 40 or so yards.

I was curious and watched the replay.

Demarcus Dobbs looked like he started the whole thing. Shoved a guy in the face after the play.

From what I could tell, Rob Gronkowski threw the first haymaker which was soon followed by a punch by Bruce Irvin.

Michael Bennett of the Seahawks and Michael Hoomanawanui, Ryan Wendall, and James Develin were also clearly involved. I'm guessing others were involved too.

Gronkowski and Irvin ABSOLUTELY should have been ejected. Probably Bennett as well. It looked Bennett ran up and tried to attack a guy when the shoving started.
