Heh. I work with a woman who loves this show and stayed up and watched it during it's late night premiere. I hadn't watched it yet so she said she wouldn't spoil anything but thought the Bohemian Rhapsody cover was one of the best tv moments. Different strokes for different folks I guess?

The show kind of is what it is though isn't it? I mean season 1 wasn't exactly absent of any plot holes or lapses of realism. I watch because its a fun hour of mindless entertainment. Same with the Walking Dead. Fun to watch but got to suck for people who analyze how the imaginary zombies aren't acting like they imagine they would in real life.

I'm starting to think that only Juice and Gemma are gonna be left standing at the end.

I fell asleep partway thru last night. I'll have to finish it up later - although I did see it looked like someone hit Diosa and destroyed all the plot on the show.

Thank god this is almost over. The Feds would be swarming with a gangland style murder and a grenade in public. Even if it was largely harmless.

I get that Sutter is married to Gemma and that Lea Michelle is a bit of a casting coup, but what the fuck. Normal episodes should never be 1:32. So insane. I'm guessing the Finale is going to be like 3 hours long. Someone needs to die soon in order to advance this plot.

Dola,

Patching over the Grim Bastards would be pretty cool. I really like their leader and I feel like we need more Malcolm Jamal Warner on TV.

The unchecked carnage is getting a bit ridiculous. Right up there with Chibs as a Scottish Romeo with the power to keep the new Sheriff in town under his seductive spell as chaos reigns supreme. Hell, if you had a drink every time someone was killed this season nobody watching would ever make it to work on Wednesdays.

The only character I am really enjoying this season is Nero, who seems genuinely conflicted and somewhat believable, hopefully they don't botch that.

And Marilyn Manson can't act worth a fuck

This really just went on too long and should have taken a cue from Sutter's other big endeavor on The Shield. It nearing the jump the shark zone at the end, but still ended at the right time and was entertaining throughout.

That said I still have somewhat high hopes for the prequel about the original 9, there is some potential there.

Just when it looked like the club was going down, jax pulled a rabbit out of his hat and the club escaped consequence free

This, plus the consistently bad decisions people make on this show, are what have really strained credulity for me. IRL, at this point the National Guard would be patrolling the streets of Charming.

I'd add that part of that way you feel like this is that Smits is head and shoulders the best actor on the show, especially now that Perlman's gone. In comparison, I like Katey Sagal and everything, but Sutter's relying too much on her acting ability, which is good but not great.

It is really bad. I guess I don't understand why each episode needs to run 90 minutes either when there is so much worthless filler. Cut out a few scenes of the bro hugging and apologizing and get it down to 60.

I'm not really sure why it seems people were expecting the last season to be like The Wire or The Sopranos. It has been what is has been since the beginning.

It defies all logical TV/filmmaking technique. They could easily just burn through the episodes in an hour if they just edited it properly.

#3 scripted show on cable last week(narrowly edged by American Horror Story for #2), this week's rating even to last week.

Extra half hour is worth two more commercial breaks at least.

Any questions about why it's 90 mins instead of 60?

I definitely wasn't, but the show is not like how it was. It's turned into a parody of itself.

My favorite bit from the last episode was how Unser explained that the female cop who survived the assault wasn't going to rat on Jax because they went to high school together. Because God knows if I was a cop who just took a bunch of rounds from an assault rifle, I'm looking the other way if I sat behind you in History class 15 years ago.

Is it really not like how it was though? Season one ended with an ATF agent being murdered in broad daylight on a road and the club didn't get investigated because they painted an IRA symbol at the scene of the crime.

Maybe it's absurd because the number of times they've driven a bus through a plot hole to escape the entire club being on death row in a heartbeat, but I don't think it's really ever been that realistic.

Dola, they should have just let Unser die of cancer 2 years ago or more. He totally drags down the show at this point. As far as last night goes the pimp segment added nothing, could have been cut.

It's always been a little out there but murders were somewhat of a big deal back then. Now they could have 20 ATF agents gunned down in an episode and it wouldn't be a big deal.

The show was great early on but when they went to Ireland it turned. There's just so much big stuff happening that ends up not mattering at all.

I just powered through the last 3 episodes tonight.

My favorite part, by far, is that an escort service was conservatively valued at $600k when the assets consist of a shot up, bloodied building and a bunch of dead whores.

And Kurt Sutter is definitely responsible for turning that kid who plays Abel into a future serial killer.

Jesus I feel for you.

Liquor license and whore license are def more expensive than you'd think but 600K was indeed hilarious. It would be like if they tried to get people to still use Aurora theatre 's murder room or Sandy Hook. Nobody would go there.

If it's sold at 5* earnings that would mean it grosses 120K/ year. 10 girls tipping out 33% means a net of $1000/ day meaning they give very cheap head or have few clients or the Mayans are getting a deal.

"Seems good" was Marcus' response to the valuation. He didn't even need to see the books.

I was actually enjoying the episode until that pointless "take me now scene" with Jarry and Scottie. WTF was the point of that??

But speaking of shit, I for some odd reason elected to stay tuned in for the Anarchy Afterwords show and don't think I have ever seen such a train wreck. Say what you want about Talking Dead, but it is usually always well paced, flows smoothly and is entertaining.

This Afterwords show was a complete clusterfuck from the jump. Bobby looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. The host has no command of the show, looks totally unprepared and between the awkward moments of silence and him talking over people the enter show is horrid. The folks that play August Marks and June Stahl were solid, but even they couldn't save that disaster. They would have been better off letting a team of first year media arts students from (insert college name here) do the wrap up.

This is what you get, as a director, for having the hubris to think you can make a child actor drive a key plot point successfully.

It's bad when you realize that they're like 45 minutes into an episode and essentially nothing has happened. He's so lucky he has creative control because nobody else would get the type of leash he gets. Network notes would fix most of these issues

I can't believe these black pastors have played such a large role in this. The preacher's son is a pretty bad actor IMO. He kills ever sequence he's in. The minister is okay, but the son should have died 3 times by now.

Really, do we have to keep going back to Goggins over and over? I thought it was cool the first couple times they used the character. But at this point there's no real reason to give Tig anything more. I guess Sutter just wants to be shocking for shocking's sake or something.

So I guess our loose threads are

-who is the Rat, I'm assuming it's RoboCop but it might actually be Ratboy. Maybe that lie he told about Jury's kid was indeed true

-if not, why is Rat getting so much screentime. Is he going to be the new Prez?

-how will the other charters react. The kill on Jury was justified, but I feel like that will cause issues

-seen it raised elsewhere, but Jax offing himself needs to be on the table. Why else was it brought up

-can Unser just succumb to cancer already?

-obviously Lin needs to die or we've wasted so much time on the Nazi

-really want to see Lodi get patched over, he's one of the few characters I like.

-as much as "black" needed to die, having the Nazi's do it seemed way too hate crimey.

-the reveal seemed way too silly. You can't bank on getting complexity out of a horrible kid actor.

-Does Sutter legitimately think this is good stuff? How can he be proud of the way this turned out.

We get it, the Wheelchair chick from Steel likes rough sex. Perhaps we could have given chibs stuff to do seasons ago, he can handle his business acting

-Happy has been criminally underutilized throughout this show.

-Maybe Kevin Nash and the fat Hispanic guy will get something to do eventually?

Apparently it is a set of twins that play the part of Abel, and they also appeared in several episodes of Mad Men.

I'm not watching (still a season behind, plus the current one) but I know what you're referring to.

It had a friend of mine -- 45ish y/o female -- in tears because it was so sweet.
Apparently there's a demographic subset that storyline has appealed to.
