I thought it was common knowledge that he was Jessie Ewiok and probably also Mr. Bigglesworth. Wasn't really looking to get him banned but can't say he ever really added to a discussion. I just figured he learned when he was banned the first time about his nonsense and reminded him of it every once in a while. EDIT: And I didn't report him either. Unless Ben happened to be reading the thread and saw my post? Last edited by panerd : 01-12-2011 at 01:16 PM. |

It's strange how much I enjoy anger on the right and humor on the left, and hate when the 2 switch.
I guess my point is, if Jon starts being funny, ban him |

I installed a hack a while back to get rid of spambots in one fell swoop. With one click, it bans all IPs they've used, deletes all posts, threads, PMs, etc. That account has been coming in from tons of IPs, so it was a time-saver to just use the hack rather than wasting my own time getting every unique IP one by one.

and trust Sarah Palin to throw napalm on the fire.
"blood libel"? Are you serious? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? (It refers to the false accusation, dating back centuries, that Jews would sacrifice Christian children for various nefarious or even religious purposes -- such as using their blood as an ingredient in the unleavened bread in Passover ceremonies. It was a core tenet of anti-Semitism, widely believed in medieval times and beyond, and often resulted in persecution, murders and other actions against Jews. Considering that the target of the attack was Jewish......)

A quick search shows the video has already been removed. It's still writen out all over the place, though.

That term has been around for a couple of days. Somebody on the right thought that would be a good description and either the term was communicated around or there were a lot of copycats. She was merely using the right approved term by the time of her video.

In fairness to Palin, I don't think she's educated enough to make that connection. But it might say something about the crowd she runs with. |

I'm not sure I buy that, although I admit that she can plausibly deny any knowledge of 'blood libel's' historic context based on her ignorance of so many other things. One thing I know for sure: she will never, ever apologize for using the term, no matter how many people are offended. |

Thought this was interesting enough to share, although there's nothing really groundbreaking in it. This link is G4's summary of an article by the WSJ about the shooter's gaming history, primarily as a player of Earth Empires.
My biggest takeaway from it was that, given the number of "gamers" in some form or fashion today (from consoles to MMORPG's to Zynga/Facebook), there's probably coming a point where the majority of criminals are "gamers" ... same as the majority of coffee drinkers, people who watch Idol, and pretty much anything else in the U.S. Jared Lee Loughner A Gamer: Arizona Shooter Played Strategy Games - G4tv.com

You mean it's safe to come back now to FOFC without DT and Bollea?
I thought I had made the connection to Bigglesworth/Ewaik/Bollea a couple of years ago but gave him the benefit of the doubt. But it fit the pattern of Ewiak, an extremist attack dog that only posts to rile people. But he did write well. I am still unclear as to why now and how it was found out. JonInMGA is funny in a rednek kind of way but you got admit, he's consistent and predictable. But we've seen other sides to him, unlike Bollea. |

Bigglesworth was supposedly from philly. But the connection between Ewiak and Bollea is obvious.

Is anyone else blown away by her recovery? She was shot point blank in the head. The bullet went through her brain. They are saying she has been responsive to commands, giving hand signals and opener her eyes. I wouldn't doubt she's got a long recovery and potentially lifelong issues to overcome, but the fact someone can survive that is just remarkable.

We need some help from Hollywood in this matter.
1. Let the authorities research this punk and make a list of all the people that he cares about. 2. Then, a Hollywood studio can create a video clip simulating them all being executed in brutal fashion. 3. Tell this monster there has been a tragic shooting and show him the tape. |

This relates to teh fact that he got too close when he fired. The bullet went through without doing the massive damage it would have had it been fired further away and slowed more during travel. A .45 shell from 20 feet will leave an exit wound the size of a grapefruit, but from 2 feet you might miss the hole altogether at first glance. She's amazingly lucky that he was too close. Hopefully she will recover without too many issues. |

Yeah, I really wasn’t trying to get him banned. He was often annoying but it really wasn't that hard to avoid him, just stay out of the politics threads. I was just commenting (like me and other posters have done numerous times) that he should have known from his previous banning when he is starting to get ridiculous again. I actually feel kind of bad but I am sure he will show back up here soon enough with another assumed name. Just watch for the guy that quotes out of the Communist Manifesto all the time. |

People sometimes forget that kinetics are fairly complicated. Sure, a 9mm round may have more energy, but it has a smaller cross-section, so it is more difficult to transmit that energy to something. A .45 has a larger cross-section so it is easier to transmit the kinetic energy to something and lessen its own energy, so the energy transfer is greater, which means more damage to tissue.

I think the biggest question I have, is what will change?
Is it a tragedy, definately...but what will change from it? Will we implement better systems for dealing with mentally ill? Will we create more security for our elected officials? Will we change how elected officials deal with their constituents? Will we change anything with relation to gun control? Will the FBI or a different security group oversee potential danger types by checking interet sites more? Or will we say, that's a shame, mull it over, and go back to business as usual until the next time?

I don't really understand what's going on on that website. Was stevebollea a senator or something from an fictional government? Or maybe he got the real government and simulation government confused. I wonder if government text sims, like sport sims, can convince people that running countries and teams is really easy and that they'd be really good at it. That would definitely explain stevebollea's posts. |

I've actually been a member of that simulation and many other simulations like it in the past. It's just a model of the US government where you debate politics, run for office, etc. It kinda works like a government MMORPG. I played them periodically, but they became too time consuming.

Report: It Going To Take Way More Than An Inconceivable Act Of Violence For Country To Rise Above PoliticsJanuary 13, 2011 | ISSUE 47•02
WASHINGTON—Sources struggling to make sense of the shooting rampage in Tucson confirmed Wednesday that it would take much more than brutally gunning down a congresswoman, a federal judge, a 9-year-old girl, and 17 others for the nation to rise above its current corrosive state of politics. "This was obviously a horrific tragedy, but nowhere near the unspeakable manifestation of evil it would take for politicians and pundits to act like decent human beings," said analyst Grant Ames, adding that this event would have been ripe for disgusting political opportunism even if 30 or 40 people had been killed. "Perhaps if some senators were kidnapped and buried alive as they screamed for mercy we might be able to rise above politics. But they'd probably have to be decapitated, on live television, for it to make any lasting difference. Then again, it still might not." Ames told reporters he couldn't rule out the possibility that no matter what happens, they will all just continue to act like complete assholes.
