Sam White ended up undrafted in the MLB draft. Surprisingly, he signed a free agent deal with the Blue Jays, his hometown team. Personally, I think he should have finished his education at WVU and taken that opportunity to get a higher draft slot and more money after his senior year. You always get more chances to succeed when you're drafted higher.

To his credit, he is one of the hardest working and focused people out there, so he could turn a few heads and work his way up the chain.

Yeah seems like he should have stayed at WVU and tried to get drafted. But is he a Blue Jays fan? His dream to be a Blue Jay? Then I could see where he would take their offer

LSU Shreveport's 65 game win streak came to end yesterday at the same tournament my son's school is playing in. He was in the stands between their games watching.

So Victor Rojas' connections landed my son's team in this tournament I mentioned above in Louisiana this past weekend. Top NAIA level competition throughout the tournament. Shreveport ended up dropping 2 games after winning 65 in a row and coming off a series where they swept the number 4 team in the country heading into the tournament.

My son homered on his 2nd AB of the season on a ball that went 110 off the bat. The catcher he splits time with is, coincidentally, a University of Charleston (WV) transfer that played with former WVU player Kyle West. West had a 1.400 OPS that year before transferring to WVU.

I don't know what Rojas' plans are, but he could quickly build a NAIA powerhouse if he sticks around. My son plans to see if there's going to be an opening on his staff next year, if not, he's going to see if he can help him land on a staff somewhere else.

I mentioned in another thread that my son is graduating college this weekend. He wrapped up his college baseball career last weekend. He wants to be a college basenall coach and has been looking at opportunities there. During exit interviews Victor Rojas asked him to stay on as a grad assistant for next season. He's pretty excited and Rojas is one of the most connected guys in all of baseball. I don't think he could possibly land a better opportunity.

During my son's roommate's exit interview he mentioned to Rojas that he wants to be a trainer for a MLB team and knows that probably starts as an assistant for a minor league team somewhere. Rojas immediately opened up his email and fired one off to a mlb GM for him. The guy knows everyone in baseball and takes care of his kids.

What a weird year in college baseball.

Arizona, Vandy, Clemson, and LSU are all almost certain to not make a regional. Vandy still has an outside shot, but might have to make the SEC final.

It's insane how far WVU's baseball program has come over the past decade. For the 2nd time in 4 years WVU ends the regular season with Baseball America's top college prospect for the next year's draft. In 2023 it was Wetherholt for the 2024 draft and this year it's Gavin Kelly for the 2027 draft.

It feels odd for us to have something so nice, but the biometrics lab has been a game changer. Other schools/programs will catch up, but we have some amazing proprietary technology that people are taking notice of and has been a boon for recruiting AND development. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before SEC and Big 10 schools start poaching the folks that built and developed the technology, but hopefully we have a few years to enjoy it.

Sun Belt tournament has been nearly a washout. Coastal had to move its game to host team Troy's field tonight just trying to get some games in. Troy still in the tourney and playing tonight on the tournament field in Montgomery.

Happy with Coastal's Regional field, thought I was hoping they would go to North Carolina whom they beat this year. Florida State is tough and Northern Illinois and St. John's don't seem too tough to face. Glad to see the Sun Belt got two teams on the bubble to make it in too

Of course Coastal's Regional is in a rain delay-Game #1 hasn't started yet. A few upsets-Milwaukee beat Auburn, Southern Miss lost as #1 seed and Florida Almost lost to Rider.

UCLA is the first top overall seed to lose their regional opener. It's already been a day of upsets.

Yeppers, at St John's might add to them as they are ahead of Florida State by 1 in the 9th

And they held on to win. Kinda hoping Coastal wins just so they don't face FSU in an elimination game

They did get a couple more innings in but eventually had to postpone until tomorrow morning and there is still a winner's bracket game to be played too. Should be "fun" FSU leads 2-1

Coastal put up almost no resistance in the game, just 3 hits and struck out 8 times when they went back to playing today. Very disappointed with how this team finished.

ngl, Schnall comes across like a guy who may have been finished before the team made it official.

The rumor is South Carolina has a deal with him. Their backup is supposedly WVU's Sabins, but I don't think Sabins would take the SC job. He will eventually leave for an upper half SEC job, but SC is not that job.

Just saw an interview from earlier today where he addresses this-says given the success Coastal has had, people are always going to try to see if there's any interest in moving to another job. Does not seem that he's going anywhere

So he's gonna stay & just be a miserably whiny unlikable bitch?

I kinda figured he was being a miserably whiny bitch because he knew he was leaving so it didn't matter.

It's a different sport, a different motion, less wear and tear etc. I get it.

Seeing a pitch count of 177 is always going to be triggering to me.

GT gets to spend a restless night contemplating the phrase "same ol ' Tech".

They'll respond to that situation in one of two fashions.

so UCLA is the biggest crashout ever, right? They were downright dominant in the regular season and St. Marys didn't even seem to be a good mid-major.

It is and in hindsight UCLA was overrated. The Big 10 sucked and UCLA had a ton of good fortune late in games to get them where they were.

They still go down as the only top overall seed to lose an opener in the regional format and they were a 9th inning miracle away from not even winning a regional game in what was far and away the easiest region. St Mary's, Cal Poly, and Virginia tech are some mid-week bullpen games.

can't be a bigger crash than #1 losing.

Troy would have been the last Sun Belt school I would have picked to win a Regional, but after beating Florida today 10-2 both Florida and Florida State are done.

Softball World Series has been electric as always. That Texas Tech-UCLA game had the heavyweight fight vibe to it, sad anyone had to go after that but the storylines were electric. TTU the villains for spending money but it's working.

This is apparently the first time all 8 teams from the previous year's MCWS failed to qualify for supers the following year.
