He told the conservative talk show FlashPoint last week that he believed the man used his finger. But this week he also said he was checked by medics for puncture wounds.

Buongiorno said nothing he saw could be described as an attack that would leave Lindell in pain. He added Lindell showed no indication anything was amiss as he walked to the glass elevator and rode it to the 6th floor.

Lindell defended his account, saying Buongiorno would not have seen the assault from where he was standing to take the photo. Lindell added that he was scared that saying anything would have escalated the situation and that he doubled over in pain as soon as the elevator doors closed.

Is anyone watching the videos from the guy who supposedly has a bomb outside the Library of Congress? It's exactly who you would expect.

Facebook likes money. It gets money from ads. Ads pay more money with high engagement. Facebook gets the most engagement by being a rightwing disinformation site with a skin of being the place that you go to wish your Aunt a happy birthday.

"Investigators said Roseberry's criminal history was "nothing that serious." In the late 1980s, Roseberry was charged with larceny over $200 and driving without a license. He was given probation for those offenses. Cleveland County court records indicate he was convicted of resisting a public officer in 1993 as well."

Yeah, if this were a PoC shot by police, damn well sure that'd be serious enough.

Texas Dems returned to Texas to give the legislature a quorum to pass all the GOP special session laws. When they started their quorum breaking, I did not realize they had no endgame. The whole thing seems like a bunch of silly theater. I always give too much credit to the strategic thinking of the Democratic Party..

It seems like there were two non-galactically-stupid options:
(1) Don’t do it, or
(2) Do it and see it through.

But door number 3: Take a trip to DC, accomplish nothing, and make sure that the GOP knows that your bluffs should always be called, was not a good choice.

The end game was Dems passing a federal law, but Sinema and Manchin don't care.

They were trying to put pressure on the Democrats in the Senate to pass a voting rights law.

To show you how little effort the FBI and DOJ is putting into January 6th, folks on Reddit and stuff are doing deeper investigations.

So they didn't meet with Sinema, and met with Manchin but didn't bring up breaking the filibuster, just agreed that a voting rights bill would be good. So the usual half-assed effort Democrats give.

That's an intriguing take. I'm curious what left-of-center influencers they've banned to earn this assessment?

If that was their goal, they wouldn't ban Trump and also ban others for 'misinformation', some of which is actual misinformation and some of which is manifestly not.

A house divided against itself cannot stand. Facebook does not behave as a site that's trying to attract right-wing disinformation, it acts like a site that is trying to get rid of the appearance of it.

Also, just so I don't come off as too high and mighty-if I were in their position, and someone told me "Hey, you are going to have to leave your wife and kids and go live in a hotel in another city, and you might not be back until 2022 or later," I would have said no. I wouldn't have wanted to make that sacrifice.

So I can totally understand why they wanted to come back.

But what I can say is that I would have said no in the beginning. I would not have gone along, knowing the whole time that I'd not see it through.

His site gets more engagement than the NYT, Washington Post, CNN, and NBC News combined on Facebook.

They do game the system real hard by setting up feeder pages that are just fake conservative groups. And since they don't do original reporting, most of their stuff is plagiarized which gives them a huge advantage in how much content they can churn out.

Except that there's significant pushback from some of that list on right-wing misinformation. I.e. on the Jan 6th trials, on the vaccine, on support for Trump, etc. Then we've got apolitical animal & pop culture sites in there, NPR, etc.

If their goal is to be a right-wing misinformation platform and this is the result, they need to fire all of their executives for gross incompetence.

Again, you're arguing all the points that no one is making. No one says their goal is solely to be a right-wing misinformation platform, though, yeah Zuckerberg clearly has some authoritarian right tendencies.

It's not nearly as toxic to advertisers or payment services as, apparently, consensual porn is (lol OnlyFans).

To the contrary, I've argued directly and specifically against what people have said. Your own post says it's not soley a right-wing misinformation site, then says that pays well in their model so they're not going to cut it off, even though I've already talked about the fact that they *have* cut a lot of that stuff off, and the list RainMaker linked purported to be a refutation of that but in fact it actually isn't because it has lots of content that isn't right-wing misinformation and very little that is; because Facebook *has* in fact removed lots of that content.

This has all the appearance of someone constantly saying 2+2=5, and then someone else comes along and says 'no that's four', then the response 'of course 2+2=4, nobody claimed it wasn't'.

They have cut out some of the most extreme stuff on the most extreme fringes as it's profitable to do so - it gives the appearance of doing something and the PR probably costs less or is a wash with what the most extreme stuff was making them in ad revenue. But far right wing stuff is still very profitable and very prolific on Facebook.

That's a reasonable take that I wouldn't necessarily object to. In regards to who uses it, it's interesting that virtually all social media lean left. Facebook is more conservative in the sense that it's closer to even, but still has slightly more of a liberal constituency (72-69 last study I've seen).

Not sure where this goes, and I don't want to start a DeSantis thread. But apparently 51% of Floridians think that DeSantis is putting his political ambitions ahead of everyday Floridians.

Which means that at the peak of the pandemic in Florida, 50% of the state is OK with his leadership/approach.

Which makes me think that the Dems need to start thinking of Florida like Ohio. A former swing state that has turned reliably Red.

My wife spent 30+ years in Florida, has many relatives there, and I spent 15+ years there with a number of old friends/acquaintances remaining. Of those who were reliably conservative 20+ years ago, I can only think of 1 who has not gone off the deep end, to some degree. It's really disturbing.

Which makes me think that the Dems need to start thinking of Florida like Ohio. A former swing state that has turned reliably Red.

You may well be right, but that stat doesn’t on it’s own lead to that conclusion, and doesn’t match an article I found from the last few days (today in fact)

Another poll shows Ron DeSantis' favorability rating underwater

Hershel Walker is running for senate as Trump's hand picked candidate in Georgia, and I am now going to put my head through a brick wall.

I saw something about his wife illegally voting in the GA election from Texas because that's where they claim their homestead exemption? I don't know what came of it or if there's anything to it but that's funny.
