Not sure why they sent Cabrera home on that fly ball. Terrible decision by Detroit, hope it doesn't come back to haunt them.

*sigh* Even with Verlander, there's no way this team is winning three in a row.

Damn, this series was giving me an ulcer. Another stellar game, with Cruz coming through both with his bat and his arm.

This Texas team is mighty impressive. They lost Lee and keep chugging in the playoffs.

As for the NL, my distaste for the Wild Card going to the World Series has me rooting for the Brew Crew.

Typically in a case where I dislike both teams, I hope for the blimp crash (it's so comically absurd that it won't happen but it's fun to hope for)

It wasn't a terrible decision, it was the right decision. They were pretty much stuck. Ron Washington's the idiot for walking Cabrera to begin with, but he got lucky. In a tie game late, you can't risk pinch-running for him, so you're stuck with his lack of speed. Young's ball was fairly deep. You had Alex Avila coming up, who is clearly running on fumes and not hitting worth a crap. He'd have to get a hit to score Cabrera. I think you have to take that chance and hope Cruz makes a poor throw or the catcher drops/misses the ball. It was a perfect play, and Cruz should get all the credit.

Eventually, an intentional walk blew up in someone's face. Unfortunately, it was the Tigers. But that was an insane walk ordered by Washington. I wish it would have backfired not for the Tigers' sake, but for baseball sanity sake.

Totally disagree. They had to have known about Cruz's arm strength and that no way would Cabrera make it home. Hold him at 3rd and hope the next guy gets a hit. They gained nothing from that play, including a loss of momentum.

"Hope" with a guy hitting .067 in the playoffs instead of taking a shot at scoring the go-ahead run on a given ball-in-play scenario?

I choose what you know you have and force the defense to make the play. They did. You give kudos to them for making the play. Not every decision that doesn't work out is a bad decision.

It's hard to fathom that in an inning where the go-ahead run is purposely put on base with 1 out, we're calling the decision to try to score on a medium-deep fly ball in the bottom of the 8th inning for a team that's hitting a collective .228 in the playoffs, the "bad decision."

That ball was deep enough to score 80 percent of baserunners in MLB and it took a perfect throw to get Miggy(who is REALLY slow). I really cant believe he got gunned. You dont often see runners get thrown out from that distance.

You have to be aggressive there and make them make a great play.

It really only looked bad because it was the "perfect throw". If its 2 feet to the left or right Miggy could possibly slide around it. If its 2 feet further the catcher has to make a tough short hop scoop.

That ball was so perfect, Napoli could have been a statue, and that ball would have bounced right into his glove.

Tigers up 6-2. Hopefully their relievers can hold the lead, but I might be tempted to have Verlander pitch a complete game just to be sure.

That is why it is a good time for Wisconsin sports. Packers playing good, Badgers playing good, Brewers playing good and the Bucks are prohibited from playing...

Fun fact: CJ Wilson has been the losing pitcher in a WS, LCS, DCS, and All-Star game in the last calendar year.

I must have completely missed the midwestern hate that builds up between teams, but on another board, there's a guy who's a diehard Pirates fan who absolutely DETESTS the Brewers. And I can't figure out why. Even his explanations don't make sense, since he devolves into name calling before he can really explain it well enough to understand. The only thing I can figure is that teh Brewers dominated the Pirates at home, to embarrassing levels the last few years. Otherwise, I can't say I've heard really bad things about Ryan Braun or Fielder or others on the team (aside from Nyjer, I guess).

I mean, if you're on the outside looking in, aren't the Cardinals the ones you would root against? I must be oblivious to whatever issues the Brewers have that should make me hate them.
