It's the styles...Germany seems content to let Spain knock it around and hope for a counter and Spain is not willing to push too much for fear of that counter attack. They might as well start shooting PK's now.

agree that´s not a penalty, but that doesn´t mean it´s a flop either ...

Germany very nerbous at the start, a bit better from min 25 on, a few very promising counter attacks where they were off by a little bit before it got really dangerous.

Spain allways impresses me, how nearly everybody is able to play that deadly pass into space.

look again. He gets touched a bit and while running that´s enough to get your legs/feet tangled like that. Anyone who plays himself should be able to tell you that.

Not everything black and white, there can be a legitimate reason for a player to trip/fall and yet still shouldn´t be a penalty.

He got touched on the cleat, but his momentum took himself out, which is probably what the ref saw.

I disagree with SF, beause it sure looks to me like Spain is really trying to score. They aren;t sitting back and playing keep away

In the second half, Germany is playing on the back foot, and Spain is attacking yes, but in the first 55 minutes or so, it was pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass cross to no-one, lose possession.

Spain is going to control play thru about the 83rd minute, then Germany will score on some breakaway and win this 1-0. Germany's guys aren't expending as much energy IMO.

I like how in the first 20 minutes of this game, the ref was not buying any dives and complaints, and now we are dive free, relatively.

That seemed over the past few minutes like it was inevitable. Awesome header for Spain.

To be fair, Pedro still has a better chance of scoring 1 on 3 than Torres does into an empty net

Germany gets what they deserve with this one. In my opinion, they didn't play to win at all and the poor thing is they have plenty to play Spain with man-up. Pussy soccer.

Good job Spain! No question Spain came in knowing how to beat germany, and did it to perfection.

+1 Going with what, for all intents and purposes, was a 5-3-1-1/5-3-2 until Spain finally scored was what the Germans deserved. That was pretty poor for a side that had counter-attacked so aggressively in previous matches.

We should have an interesting final. I think it's going to come down to whether or not Van Bommel and De Jong can neutralize Xavi and Iniesta. If Holland can manage that, they have a chance. If not, it's a tall task to ask for a win.

Justice was made, German coach said before that they would play attacking football unlike every other team Spain has faced, but they played the same, just into their half trying to pick a lose ball for a counter. Luckily it didn't work and the team that played the best football won the game.

I know defense+counter is also football but... that is what the underdogs play, and I expected more from Germany than that coward game, as they have really good players and could have left the world cup giving a better image. Maybe as some coaches have said, it's not that teams play defense on purpose, but that Spain doesn't let any team to play differently.

Incredible game by our small men Pedrito and Inista, even when that stupid play at the end that could have been the 2-0 if Pedrito was less selfish.

I was at least pissed at playing with only one forward vs the German defensive towers, but it worked well, as the constant change of position by Villa, Iniesta and Pedrito in between the lines drove them crazy and was the best way to win a physical team like Germany. Spain also pressured like hell the whole game, not allowing Ozil and company to control the ball for more than 3 passes.

Overall was an exciting game to watch, as i was so scared of Germany knowing they can score on any counter or a cross or corner sent to their tall players. Was weird that we won with their weapons, a header and from Puyol that is an small defender, but that jumps and heads with all his heart.

At the end the best playing team won, and it's a win for football in general, as we are too used to teams like Italy playing ugly football in the World Cup (and sadly Germany today when they have played so well before) but winning in the last minute by a lucky play.

Btw, i was so pissed at the Spanish coach taking too long to make changes after the goal, he does always the same, feels that he has ice in his veins, seeing how Villa was so tired and unable to counter attack, and not using the subs also to lose time or to stop the German momentum.
