NBA Playoffs First Round Day 1
(6) Washington at (3) Charlotte Game 1 CHA:WAS 83:82 OVR 81:84 OFF 90:79 DEF We just played Washington and the scouting is there. Arenas/Butler, Mayo/Padgett gives this series some decent star power. Felton, Wallace and Sparks is a much better supporting cast than Garcia/Jamison/Schumacher. There are two major injuries that have huge impacts on the OVR ratings of the teams listed above. Padgett's quad strain and Caron Butler has an MCL strain. Butler is Day to Day, and his injury is as bad as Padgett's, knocking him down to 66 OVR(padgett is 68). First Quarter Charlotte 26 Washington 25 Close quarter, we lead most of the way but never by more than 5. Mayo shoots 4-10 and scores 8 points. Wallace 6, Sparks has 3 with 8 boards already. Henderson 3, Swanson/Felton/Padgett 2 each. Garcia has 8 for the Wizards, Arenas 6, Foye 3, a few others 2. Arenas picked up 2 fouls late in the quarter and sat the last 2 minutes. Both teams are shooting 11/24 from the field, Washington has a 3 but we have a couple more FT's. Second Quarter Charlotte 54 Washington 48 We went ahead by as much as 10 late in the quarter before Washington gets it down to 6. Mayo heats up for a bit and scores 9 in the quarter, giving him 17 total. Wallace has 8, Swanson 7, Chandler/Felton 5 each, Padgett 4. Arenas leads the Wizards with 12, Butler 10, Garcia 8, Jamison 6. Arenas just shoots 3-7 in the quarter, he's 6-12 total now. Third Quarter Charlotte 88 Washington 72 I get a burst from backup PG JAcob Swanson and that gives me a big lead going into the 4th. Swanson scores the last 7 of the quarter for us. Mayo 22, Swanson 19, Wallace 18, Sparks 7 points/14 boards. Arenas is doing well with 24 points but he just doesn't have enough help. Buter 12, Garcia 10. Fourth Quarter 7:45 to go - Washington has cut the lead under 10, 94-85. 4:30 to go - We lead 97-92. It doesn't really feel like we're getting dominated but they've slowly cut the lead down and we only have 9 points in the quarter so far. Arenas is up to 31. I have Felton/Swanson/Wallace/Padgett/Chandler on the floor right now. 2:30 to go - Washington cuts it to 3, 97-94, before Wallace scores the next 4 to put us back ahead by 7. 101-94, Wizards ball. 1:33 to go - Two empty trips, both turnovers, and Washington has cut it down to 3, 101-98. Our ball though. 0:43 to go - Wallace with a charge, then Wallace witha bad pass for another turnover. We haven't taken a shot in our last four trips down the floor. Butler just got a 3 point play and we're tied at 101. 0:31 to go - Mayo drives the baseline and hits a runner. We lead 103-101. Caron Butler drives and cannot hit a tough shot in the lane. We rebound and hit our free throws the rest of the way and hang on for the win. Charlotte 107 Washington 103 Mayo: 35 points/6 assists Wallace: 22 points/7 boards/6 assists Swanson: 21 points Sparks: 7 points/14 boards Chandler: 5 points/6 boards Felton: 5 points/6 assists Padgett: 5 points/7 boardas Henderson: 2 points Bibby: 2 points Fisher: 2 points I haven't had a big game out of Wallace in awhile, he was really big today with Padgett hurt and ineffective. Arenas scores 35 points, grabs 7 boards and dishes out 8 assists, but again the help wasn't quite there. Butler 17, Garcia 14, Richardson 8, Foye 7, Jamison 6. We're up 1-0! |

Thanks for the comments ironhead/bbgunn The replays are cool, but I want more control over them in future versions. NHL10 has a beautiful replay system where there is a lot of time saved and you can block off exactly how much you want in your saved highlight. But when I do think to pause the instant a play ends there are some good ones.
NBA Playoffs First Round Day 3 (6) Washington at (3) Charlotte Game 2 - Charlotte leads 1-0 CHA:WAS 88:81 OVR 81:84 OFF 90:79 DEF Padgett is now listed as day to day instead of hurting for 1-2 weeks. Butler is still hurting bad too. First Quarter Charlotte 30 Washington 26 Arenas scores 14 for the Wizards, he's 5-12 which I think I can deal with, he can have his points at that rate. Butler 6, a couple others with 2. Padgett hits a couple nice little hooks and has 8 for us. Mayo 6, Felton and Swanson each with 5, a few others with 2. Second Quarter Charlotte 54 Washington 53 We lead the entire quarter, leading by as much as 6 but obviousy just 1 at the half. Arenas is the player of the half with 19 points and 4 assists. Butler has 12, Foye 7, Garcia 5. Swanson leads us with 12 points in just 8 minutes. Mayo has 4 assists, and at least 2 of them were feeding Swanson in transition instead of taking a tough shot himself. Padgett 10, Henderson 9, Mayo 8, Felton 7. Mayo is 4-12, 0-4 from 3. Third Quarter Washington 79 Charlotte 77 Washington takes the lead in the first minute of the quarter and leads the entire quarter. They actually lead by as much as 8 before we score 6 straight around the 2 minute mark. The only superstar on the court today is Gilbert Arenas. He scores 10 more in the 3rd and has 29 points, he has 7 assists too. Butler 19, no one else above 10. center Schumacher has 6 points/12 boards. On our side, Gerald Henderson helps our comeback late in the 3rd and he has 15 to lead us. Padgett and Swanson have 12 each, Chandler 11, Felton 9, Mayo 8. Mayo is now 4-15 from the field and 0-5 from 3. There are way too many backups being listed here. Someone... a starter... needs to step up for the 4th quarter. Fourth Quarter 10:20 to go - Swanson with a layin and Mayo with 2 free throws and we lead 81-79. Our lineup was Swanson, Henderson and 3 starters, Felton just came back in, but we're going to need to rest some guys for a minute or two. 9:40 to go - Wow, Felton with a dunk and Henderson with a 3 point play and we are on a 9-0 run, its 86-79. Swanson in for Mayo. 8:00 to go - Arenas wakes up and gets up over 30 points, we miss a shot or two, and its 88-85, Washington ball. 7:50 to go - Felton, Mayo, Wallace, Fisher, Chandler, resting the bigs. Foye gets fouled and hits two at the line, we lead 88-87. 5:55 to go - Mayo gets a 3 point play and has finally started to heat up. Foye seems to be the name for the Wizards right now, not Arenas, and its 95-92 Charlotte. 5:00 to go - We lead 95-94, Mayo picks up a charge trying to get to the rim, and starters are back in for both teams, Foye was giving Arenas a rest, and our bigs are back in. 4:50 to go - Arenas blows by Felton and hits a casual, easy layin... 96-95 Washington. 3:00 to go - We lead 99-98, but Washington has the ball. close back and forth action here. 2:15 to go - Butler misses an open jumper, Sparks gets a mismatch on a guard and gets a dunk. Arenas misses a 3, Sparks gets a 3 point play inside!! We lead 104-98. 2:03 to go - Butler with a very impressive layup with Padgett all over him. 104-100. 1:00 to go - Sparks with a big block on Butler!! Wallace with a free throw, then Felton with a 3 point play, we lead 108-100 with a minute left and appear to have sealed things. We do indeed hold on for the win in the final minute with ease. Charlotte 110 Washington 103 Felton: 20 points/5 assists Henderson: 18 points Mayo: 15 points/4 boards/6 assists Swanson: 14 points/5 assists Chandler: 13 points/5 boards Padgett: 12 points/12 boards Sparks: 11 points/9 boards Wallae: 5 points Lindsey: 2 points One of the most balanced scoring efforts you'll see. Felton scores 11 in the 4th and ends up leading us in scoring. Mayo hits a few shots and has a 7 point 4th, and Sparks had a few big moments. Arenas has a great game overall, 38 points/10 assists, but once again is totally outperformed in the 4th quarter. Butler 21 poitns/7 boards, Foye 14 points, Schumacher 10 points/16 boards. Very, very exciting for 3 quarters, then we start the 4th on a 9-0 run and finish it with a 15-7 run in the final 5 minutes. We lead 2-0 heading to Washington for a couple road games. |

NBA Playoffs First Round Day 5
(3) Charlotte at (6) Washington Game 3 - Charlotte leads 2-0 CHA:WAS 88:81 OVR 81:84 OFF 90:79 DEF Butler and Padgett's injury situations have not changed, both are still hurting. First Quarter Charlotte 34 Washington 30 Defense? Not here! So yeah, OJ Mayo... 10-14, 4-4 at the line. That's 24 points in teh first quarter. 5 other guys have two heh. Arenas shoots 5-7 and scores 12 points Both teams are getting to the rim way way too easily and making almost everything. combined shooting is over 60%. Second Quarter Washington 57 Charlotte 55 Mayo only has 4 this quarter, which still leaves him with a 28 point first half. Sparks gets a few easy buckets and has 10 points/5 boards. Padgett has 6, Wallace 3, no one else has more than 2. Arenas leads the Wizards with 19, MCants has 10 off the bench, Butler 8. There was at least a little defense played here, a 27-21 quarter in favor of the Wizards. Third Quarter Washington 94 Charlotte 83 Mayo is up to 34, Sparks 12 points/7 boards, Padgett 8, Henderson and Felton 6 each. Washington just hit everythign this quarter though, putting up a ridiculous 37 points. Arenas has caught mayo and has 31 points/4 boards/6 assists. Butler 21, McCants 14. McCants minutes are going up as Francisco Garcia got hurt in this quarter and is out. Fourth Quarter 10:00 to go - We cut the lead a bit and trail 96-88. 9:15 to go - Sparks with a good play on defense to force a tough shot, we push and Swanson finds Padgett for a 3 point play. Another miss by Washington and I get Mayo the ball in the corner in transition, a trey is good and its 96-94! 7:15 to go - I need to rest my guys, I've got Felton, Swanson, Henderson, Fisher and Chandler on the floor. Arenas just pulled off a 3 point play over Felton and its 99-96 Washington. I'll likely use a timeout at the 5 minute mark to get all 5 starters back for good. 5:25 to go - Felton and Swanson both hit huge 3's for us and we actually lead 103-102(Henderson went 1-2 at the line for the other point). All 5 starters are now back in the game. 4:15 to go - Arenas hits a 3, Felton gets a dunk after spinning by Arenas, and its 105-105. Whoa - After burning Arenas for a dunk, arenas comes up limping. Injury list shows him with a twisted ankle/day to day, down to 82 OVR from 93. He gets subbed out. 2:50 to go - Jamison hits a hook for the Wizards, after empty trips on each end we get a fast break and Mayo hits Wallace for a dunk. Butler with a *very* tough turnaround over Wallace for the Wizards... 109-107 Washington. 2:30 to go - Mayo misses a point blank shot and commits a foul going for the rebound. Washington brings Arenas back in. 1:35 to go - Arenas is fouled by Felton, that's 5 on Felton and 5 on Charlotte. He only hits one of two at the line. On the other end I can't get anything going and jsut have Mayo drive and shoot, he is fouled and hits a miracle shot for a 3 point play! 110-110. On the other end we play great D, they try to feed the post but Sparks gets a blocked shot that runs out the shot clock. Our ball, tie game. 1:09 to go - Mayo misses an open 3, Sparks misses a tip. On the other end Arenas finds Schumacher for a layin. 112-110 Washington. 0:52 to go - Same play really, Felton hits Mayo for a wide open 3 and he misses again. This time its a fast break for Washington and a dunk. 114-110 Wizards. 0:20 to go - This time we go in to Padgett who misses a little hook over Butler. We play D instead of fouling(there was still 40+ seconds to go), Arenas misses a contested jumper. On our end we rush a shot by Wallace and he scores. 114-112, but now we have to foul. 0:18 to go - Felton fouls Arenas and fouls out. Swanson is in at PG. Arenas hits the first, and the second. 116-112. 0:14 to go - we get a timeout to advance the ball. Pass in to Swanson, he immediately hits wallace and Wallace goes up, is fouled by Garcia and SCORES! HUGE mistake by Washington. Its 116-115 Wizards after Wallace hits the free throw. 0:13 to go - Swanson fouls Arenas. He hits them both, 118-115. I take my last timeout. we get Mayo a 3 but its from a bit behind the arc and just off the front rim. Washington rebounds and that's the game. Washington 120 Charlotte 115 Mayo: 42 points (but just 1-7 from 3) Wallace: 14 points/5 assists Sparks: 13 points/8 boards Padgett: 13 points/8 boards Felton: 11 points/8 assists Swanson: 8 points/4 assists Henderson: 7 points Fisher: 4 points Chandler: 3 points/6 boards Arenas won out at home today over Mayo, he finished with 44 points/6 boards/7 assists. Mayo missed 3 makeable shots in the final 90 seconds that could have won the game for us, where Arenas didn't miss the important ones. Butler scored 23, McCants 14. We still lead the series 2-1, but would really like to steal a game on the road and end this thing early. We really, really need Padgett back at full strength. |

One last note on game 3, Mayo shot 10-14 in that awesome 24 point quarter. He finished the game 18-37, only 8-23 the rest of the way. He still got his points but his effectiveness went to shit and I couldn't get anyone to step up once he cooled off to that degree.

NBA Playoffs First Round Day 7
(3) Charlotte at (6) Washington Game 4 - Charlotte leads 2-1 CHA:WAS 93:84 OVR 87:88 OFF 95:82 DEF Butler and Padgett are both healthy now. Arenas is rated 82 OVR, down about 10% with his twisted ankle. I'm quite excited to have Padgett back to full strength and feel we'll get more out of him than Washington will get out of Butler. First Quarter Charlotte 28 Washington 18 We dominate the first quarter after a slow start(around the 8 minute mark I believe we led 6-4 before taking off). Padgett gets the ball early and often and comes through with 12 points. Mayo has 9, Swanson 5, Wallace 2. Felton picks up 2 fouls and Swanson gets 6 minutes in the quarter. No one for Washington has more than 4 points. Arenas is 1-4 with 2 points. Second Quarter Charlotte 61 Washington 45 We push our lead out to as much as 22 when Arenas sits for a little while, he helps cut it down to 16 before the half though. Mayo has 22 on 10-16 shooting. Padgett 18 points/4 boards, Swanson has 14 points in 11 minutes, he got some time at SG when Mayo needed to rest and then Felton picked up foul #3. Arenas has 12, Richardson 7, Butler 6, Jamison 6. We've had leads like this on the road disappear on us in the past, so I'm hoping to keep the pressure on. Third Quarter Charlotte 91 Washington 75 We lead by 20 most of the quarter again, Washington scores the last 6 to make it 16 again, and we just need to hang on for another quarter. "Hang on" when we're scoring 30 a quarter probably isn't right but we know its not necessarily over. Our big 3 today continue to dominate. Padgett 28, Mayo 26, Swanson 20. Felton is next with 8. Arenas 18, Butler 13, Richardson 13. Fourth Quarter We finish things easily. Charlotte 117 Washington 97 Padgett: 33 points/6 boards Mayo: 28 points/6 boards Swanson: 27 points Felton: 8 points/5 assists Sparks: 5 points/8 boards Wallace: 4 points Lindsey: 3 points Fisher: 3 points Chandler: 2 points/7 boards Bibby: 2 points Henderson: 2 points My backups played about 7 minutes of the 4th quarter. Arenas scores 22 on 9-19 shooting, Butler 17, a number of others right around 10. Just no answer at all today. Felton is rated better but Swanson has a way of effortlessly getting to the rim when he's hot that I have rarely dupliated with Felton. If Swanson shows that he may develop well then Felton may be allowed into free agency so i can put that money elsewhere... but that's a conversation for another time, after the playoffs. Welcome back to full strength Samuel Padgett! We lead 3-1 and get 3 chances to close out the series and advance to round 2 for the first time ever. Hopefully we don't need all three chances though. |

NBA Playoffs First Round Day 9
(6) Washington at (3) Charlotte Game 5 - Charlotte leads 3-1 CHA:WAS 93:90 OVR 87:94 OFF 95:90 DEF Arenas is back to full strength and this is the first game where the starting 5 on both sides are fully healthy. We have the chance to win the first playoff series in Bobcat history at home here today (No pressure!) First Quarter Charlotte 35 Washington 20 Yeah there is a pretty strong desire to finish this thing off. Washington's center, Schumacher, picks up 2 fouls early and it weakens their interior even more. Padgett goes 7-8 and scores 16 points in the quarter basically totally unchecked inside. Swanson scores 7 off the bench, Felton 4 and noone else over 3. Arenas scores 11 and does his best to keep up but again the supporting cast is nonexistant. Butler 6, McCants 3, thats all of Washington's scoring. Second Quarter Charlotte 58 Washington 41 We're not losing this game. Padgett has 26 points/5 boards. Felton 11, Swanson 11, no one else has more than 3. Arenas 15, Butler 11, Richardson 6 for Washington. I don't seem to be using Mayo that much, he's only 1-4, Swanson has 8 shots, Felton 7, Padgett 13. This isn't really intentional. Third Quarter Charlotte 81 Washington 65 Yup, we're not losing this game. Padgett only scores 2 in the third. He has 28 points/7 boards. Felton is the star this quarter he's now up to 23 points and 8 assists. Swanson has 11, Sparks has a double double, 10 points/10 boards. Caron Butler now leads the Wizards with 22, Arenas 20, no one else has more than 7. Mayo is 1-7, Felton and Swanson have been quicker and more aggressive and totally picked up his slack. Fourth Quarter 10:30 to go - We're not losing this game. But Washington is going to make us earn it. They start the 4th on a 6-0 run and its 81-71. 9:10 to go - 83-76 after a 3 by Washington. Timeout Charlotte. I had 4 backups + padgett in, during the timeout Mayo gets back in. 6:30 to go - Arenas is on fire, he's hitting shots with people draped all over him, 4-8 from 3 on the game now after draining one from way deep. He's up to 30 points, and its 88-81 Charlotte. 4:05 to go - We're trading baskets, but Washington hits a 3 and cuts it to 6. Its 94-88 Charlotte. 3:00 to go - 2 empty trips for each team and we sitll lead 94-88 with 3 minutes left. 2:00 to go - 96-90, Felton with a layup, Butler with a jumper. 1:07 to go - I think we just won the game. We finally stop trading baskets, Padgett with a dunk, Caron Butler with a charge on the toher end, Felton hits a jumper and we get the lead up to 10 points with just over a minute left. Felton and Padgett both have 30+ now. That'll do it!! Charlotte 104 Washington 94 Padgett: 34 points/8 boards Felton: 31 points/10 assists Swanson: 11 points/3 assists Sparks: 10 points/13 boards Mayo: 9 points/5 boards Fisher: 4 points Henderson; 3 points Wallace: 2 points Washington actually matches our top scorers, Butler and Arenas both score exactly 30 points, but the support isn't there, no one else gets into double figures. Charlotte advances to the second round of the playoffs for the first time! |

Cleveland Scouting
PG Mo Williams - 81 OVR - 17.7 ppg/4.8 apg - B hands/A- outside/B- perimeter D. His ratings aren't that great and he isn't a huge threat to get inside and score. SG Eric Gordon - 82 OVR - 20.3 ppg - This may end up being the 2nd time Gordon averages over 20. B- hands/A+ outside/B perimeter D, he's a great athlete. SF Lebron James - 98 OVR - 24.4 ppg/9.1 rpg/7.5 apg - James lowest point total since his rookie year. 29 years old now, based on Kobe's progression I assume he's still got a long time left. PF Walt Garrison - 73 OVR - 4.8 ppg/10.1 rpg - 2011 1.25 - B+ rebounding/B+ inside, poor defense, part of a very poor inside game for the Cavs. C Gordon Harris - 65 OVR - 6.7 ppg/5.5 rpg - Undrafted, his 3rd year in the league. SG Delonte West is rated 75 OVR and scores 5 points/game off the bench. SF Andrei Kirilenko is rated 69 OVR and scores 4.3 a game. PF Tom Thompson is rated 67 OVR and scores 2.5 a game. Lebron has tendinitis in a knee but it only knocks him down to 95 from 98 OVR. The inside game really favors us in such a major way that I don't see how we can possibly lose. Obviously there is the Lebron factor but it doesn't seem as big a deal in the game as it does in the real world. Too many times I've seen him or Kobe not really control the game until the 4th quarter. On our side, backup guard Jacob Swanson picked up a strained hamstring in practice and is going to be slowed for 2-4 weeks. I don't expect him to have nearly the same impact on this series that he did against Washington. |

NBA Playoffs Second Round Day 2
(2) Cleveland at (3) Charlotte Game 1 CHA:CLE 92:91 OVR 85:94 OFF 94:93 DEF So yeah, we tied with 50-32 records this year, Cleveland got the 2 seed over us, but we are at home. I am confused! First Quarter Charlotte 24 Cleveland 21 Padgett scores 6 and dishes out 3 assists so we run the offense through him pretty well. Felton 5, Mayo 4 but only shooting 1-5 so far. Eric Gordon scores 8 for Cleveland, Lebron only has 2 points with 2 assists, he also shoots 1-5. Second Quarter Charlotte 49 Cleveland 49 Clearly a very even game so far, neither team leads by more than 4 the entire quarter. We are doing well inside, Padgett leads us with 14(5 boards/3 blocks too). Sparks has 8 points/8 boards. Mayo 8, Felton 6, a few others with 4. Cleveland has pretty balanced scoring from their top 3, Gordon 12, James 11, Harris 10. Harris is the 66 rated center who keeps finding open looks. Third Quarter Charlotte 76 Cleveland 73 We control most of the quarter and build a 10 point lead but Cleveland ends the 3rd strong and gets it back down to 3. Padgett is up to 20 points/7 boards, Mayo has a pretty strong quarter and now has 16. Sparks has 10 points/9 boards, Wallace and Felton have 8 each. Cleveland continues to get pretty balanced scoring from everyone. Gordon 17, Harris 15, James 15 with 7 assists, PF Garrison with 11 points/8 boards. Each team is shooting exactly 50%, we have a huge edge on the boards, 32-22, and an 8-1 offensive rebound edge which has helped quite a bit. Fourth Quarter 8:00 to go - We lead 82-77, but have missed a number of easy shots. Mayo made a great steal, outlet to Swanson who missed a dunk, Padgett got blocked going upfor what I thought would be an easy layup, etc. 5:20 to go - We've got an 87-77 lead as we've held Cleveland scoreless for almost 3 minutes. 3:15 to go - There's been some serious defense played here, we have a few blocked shots and steals and so does Cleveland. Cleveland has the ball right now, its 87-79. 2:10 to go - Cleveland gets a quick 5 points with a Padgett miss on our end. Its 87-84 Charlotte, I get a timeout. 1:30 to go - Mayo gets open for a midrange jumper, Lebron with a miss but there's a follow dunk and its 89-86. 0:57 to go - We turn the ball over and Cleveland cuts it to one, but we get a dunk from Mayo to get it back to 3. Its 91-88, Cleveland ball. 0:32 to go - Eric Gordon misses a tough shot inside, on our end Padgett hits a layup to put us up 5, but Lebron quickly gets 2 back, its now our ball up 93-90. 0:08 to go - We can't get a good shot, Sparks ends up taking an awkward 20 footer, Cleveland rebounds and calls a timeout with a shot to tie. Cleveland misses a 3, we rebound, hit two free throws and ice the win. Charlotte 95 Cleveland 90 Padgett: 26 points/9 boards/5 assists/4 blocks Mayo: 22 points/5 assists Sparks: 10 points/11 boards/4 blocks Felton: 10 points Wallace: 8 points/5 boards Swanson: 7 points Henderson: 6 points Chandler: 4 points/5 boards Fisher: 2 points Gordon ends up leading Cleveland with 24 points, Harris and Garrison, the bigs end up with 19 and 18, James has 17 points/8 assists. Sparks had 3 of his 4 blocks in that big defensive stretch in the middle of the 4th quarter. It was really a dominant defensive 4th quarter for Sparks with some help from Padgett. We only scored 19 in the quarter but held the Cavs to 17. Lebron just wasn't a big factor here, he forced a few shots in the 4th that didn't go in, only scored 2 in the 4th and picked up a couple assists. |

Oh I forgot, this play was from the 2nd quarter of game 1 against Cleveland.
I liked this one and stopped immediately to save not because of the dunk but because of the court vision/recognition in breaking off a set play. This is a play that calls for Mayo to get the ball on the wing, Sparks(the center at the free throw line) comes out high and sets a pick and Mayo goes towards the top of the key, around the screen and straight down the middle for a dunk or pullup jumper. This play as soon as Mayo caught the ball it seemed like there was a lot more open space than I was used to seeing, so instead of running the play, I broke it off and took advantage of the huge open lane to the basket, the spin move happened to work really well and allowed for the easy dunk. Whee! I had another play I planned on uploading during the big defensive stretch in the 4th quarter where Sparks blocked an alley oop attempt, but once I paused it and looked at the replay the animation wasn't smooth at all, it looked like Sparks swung his arm through the rim, etc, and was just ugly, so I didn't save it. anyway, up 1-0 on Cleveland! |

Grats on getting to the second round and your game one win against the Cavs! Looks like a little bug with you getting home field. Good luck in rest of the playoffs.

Thanks for the kind words both of you FA this offseason will be very interesting for sure, I'd love to keep this team together with Padgett/Sparks/Swanson developing.
Second Round Day 2 (6) Portland 99, (2) Denever 98 - POR leads 1-0 --DEN: Melo 27 points/15 boards, Flynn 17 points --POR: Roy 35 points/7 boards/8 assists, Aldridge 25 points Second Round Day 3 (5) Oklahoma City 83, (1) New Orleans 75 - Series Tied 1-1 --NO: JR Smith 15 points, Paul 14 points/10 assists --OKC: Thompson 25 points, Durant 23 points/7 boards (4) Miami 102, (1) New Jersey 87 - Series Tied 1-1 --NJ: Outlaw 20 points, Harris 20 points --MIA: Wade 32 points/6 boards/5 assists OKC/New Orleans seems the most interesting series to me outside of the one we're in of course. OKC has a title and tons of talent, New Orleans finally got Chris Paul a supporting cast. |

NBA Playoffs Second Round Day 4
(2) Cleveland at (3) Charlotte Game 2 - CHA leads 1-0 CHA:CLE 91:91 OVR 85:94 OFF 94:93 DEF First Quarter Cleveland 31 Charlotte 24 Lebron plays his first noteworthy quarter of the series. We lead 21-20 with about 3 minutes left and Cleveland has a big run. Mayo leads us with 7 but its an ugly 7, 2-7 shooting with a few free throws. Felton 5, Padgett 4, no one else more than 2. Padgett is 2-5. Lebron shoots 5-5 for 10 points, 1 assist, 3 steals. Delonte West hits two open 3's and has 8 points, Mo Williams 6. Second Quarter Cleveland 55 Charlotte 43 Cleveland extends the lead out even more. Lebron sits at the 8 minute mark with a 42-25 lead, we cut into that but just barely. Lebron plays 18 minutes and scores 13 points in the half. Mo Williams has 11 points/5 assists, West 11 points. On our end Padgett and Mayo have 11 each, combining for 9-22 from the floor(5/11 and 4/11). Felton has 9, Henderson/Sparks 4. We aren't stopping them and that's the obvious huge problem. Cleveland is shooting 57% and we're at 43% from the floor. Third Quarter Cleveland 82 Charlotte 68 Lebron with another strong quarter. We get Padgett and Mayo both heated up a bit during teh quarter but also end up with Felton, Swanson and Wallace all cold, just no help from the supporting cast. Mayo 22, Padgett 21 points/7 boards, Felton 11, no one else over 4... Lebron has 23 points for the Cavs, Mo Williams 16, Harris 15, West 11, Garrison 9 lots of help from the supporting cast. Cleveland is a super annoying 7/13 from 3. We're 1/10 from behind the arc. We need a huge 4th quarter run, its not impossible with the talent we have, but the first 3 quarters have all been clearly in Cleveland's favor. Fourth Quarter We start with Felton/Swanson/Henderson/Padgett/Sparks. 9:00 to go - 87-72, not looking good. Chandler in for Sparks. 8:30 to go - Hello! Henderson with an open 3, Padgett with a 3 point play, its 87-78. Felton/Mayo/Wallace/Padgett/Chandler right now, Padgett needs to sit too but he was at the line. 6:00 to go - 91-82. James is getting a short rest for Cleveland. 4:15 to go - 93-84, we need another big run, and soon. Starters are all back in for both teams. 3:00 to go - 96-85, a 3 for Cleveland, 1 for 2 at the line for Sparks. Not looking good, we need to get a few stops in a row here. 2:05 to go - 96-87, but damn. We get a stop and a wallace layup, then a steal near the 3 point line, Felton finds Wallace, but Lebron James draws the charge... could have had it down to 7. 1:25 to go - We get another stop, Mayo rushes a 3 on our end that's no good, Cleveland comes back with a 3 on their end and its 99-87 and pretty much over. Yep, that was it. Cleveland 101 Charlotte 91 Mayo: 28 points Padgett: 28 points/11 boards Felton: 11 points/3 assists Henderson: 7 points Wallace: 6 points/4 boards Sparks: 5 points/10 boards/2 blocks Chandler: 4 points/7 boards Swanson: 2 points Lebron ends up with 23 points/8 boards/4 assists/5 steals. Harris adds 20 points/9 boards, Mo Williams 19, Garrison 16 points/10 boards. Cleveland is getting way more production inside than seems reasonable, a lot of that comes from Lebron breaking down the defense and creating chaos even if he doesn't end up with an assist. Cleveland ties it up at 1 heading back to their home court. Today's Highlight: Lebron is posting up Gerald Henderson, that seems like a bad thing so Padgett comes over to double team, Lebron finds the open man but Padgett gets back and gets a nice stuff. |

I'm tied up 55-55 with Cleveland in game 3 but getting tired, god bless being able to save games in progress and continue later.
Lebron pulled off two plays in the first quarter that I've not ever seen before in the game, I had to save them both: In the first replay I was controlling the center and went up for the block. The replays are a little grainy unfortunately, when Lebron hits the baseline he actually holds the ball out with one hand, I reacted to that and then he goes under the basket for the reverse, it was a thing of beauty. The second one looks like a custom Lebron animation, awesome elevation and the way he pulls the ball back before finishing the huge dunk over my transition defense makes it unique. Gerald Wallace has pulled off some very athletic dunks for me but nothing close to that. |

NBA Playoffs Second Round Day 6
(3) Charlotte at (2) Cleveland Game 3 - Series Tied 1-1 CHA:CLE 91:91 OVR 85:94 OFF 94:93 DEF First Quarter Cleveland 21 Charlotte 18 I have two Lebron replays saved here, for the first time I've seen him pull a few moves that I've never seen in game before. Lebron has 10 points/3 boards/2 assists. Garrison 4, Gordon 4, Telfair 3 off the bench and that's it for Cleveland. I have 6 from Mayo, 4 from Swanson, and 2 from a few others. Mayo and Felton both have 2 fouls. Cleveland led 19-12 at one point before we got a couple easy baskets. Second Quarter Charlotte 55 Cleveland 52 Totally opposite of the first quarter, we score 37, Cleveland 31 in an insane, fast paced high scoring quarter. Jacob Swanson plays most of the quarter, giving Mayo a rest early and Felton late. He catches fire, hitting a 3 in transition on the first play of the quarter and he's just on a roll form there. He's now 8-11, scoring our last 8 points in a row, he now has 21 to lead all scorers. Mayo 11, Padgett 8, Felton 6, Henderson 5. Lebron is the player of the quarter, 16 points/4 boards/6 assists. Gordon 10, Garrison 8, Mo Williams 5. Both teams are shooting nearly 60%, just no defense. Third Quarter Charlotte 81 Cleveland 71 With 4 1/2 minutes to go in the 3rd its a close, back and forth quarter, with Cleveland leadin 67-65. Over the next 3 1/2 minutes we score 14 straight, scoring pretty much every time we touch the ball and watching Cleveland turn it over a few times, miss wide open shots, even a missed dunk that we wren't contesting at all. Lebron hits a free throw and Gordon a trey in the final minute to make it a 10 point game. Swanson doesn't score this quarter so he's still got 21. Padgett has 18, Mayo 17, Padgett was hot for a decent part of the quarter. Felton 10, no one else more than 5. Lebron only scores 3 in the 3rd, he's got 19 points now. Gordon 15, Williams 14. Fourth Quarter 9:00 to go - Padgett and Sparks have all of our points inside so far. Its 87-75. Mayo and Lebron both sat the first couple minutes, but both are in now. 6:00 to go - We've led by as much as 13 but right now its 9, 90-81, Mayo scored on a 3 point play for our only points of the last 3 minutes. 4:25 to go - 92-85, this is the closest its been. 3:30 to go - 94-85, Felton with a charge, Mo Williams misses a jumper, we get one from Mayo on our end, i thought it was a 3 but nope, on the line. 2:15 to go - 96-87, Cleveland had cut it to 7 and had a chance to cut it to 5, but Padgett blocks a shot by Lebron, Chandler blocks a second attempt by Gordon, we recover and get Padgett a bucket in the post to push it back up to 9, that seems like a very key possession. 1:30 to go - 96-91, now its down to 5 as Lebron drives and dishes to Williams for an easy layin. We get a timeout and get all our starters in(we had 4 starters + Chandler the last few minutes, Sparks is back in). 1:12 to go - 98-91, we get it to Padgett who works for a good shot in the post. 0:40 to go - 98-93 now, a couple emptry trips before a Cleveland jumper. 0:20 to go - 100-93, that should do it, Sparks hits a shot inside. Cleveland hits a meaningless 3 at the buzzer to make it look a little closer than it was in the final minutes. Charlotte 101 Cleveland 98 Padgett: 26 points/3 boards Mayo: 22 points/4 boards/2 steals Swanson: 21 points Felton: 11 points/7 assists Sparks: 8 points/9 boards Henderson: 5 points Fisher: 4 points/5 boards Wallace: 2 points Chandler: 2 points Lebron again plays his best early, his numbers are very good, 23 points/7 boards/10 assists, 6 points/4 assists in the 4th quarter. Eric Gordon scores 20, Mo Williams 14 with 8 assists. We use a huge run in the 3rd quarter to open up a 10 point lead and are able to hold on to that the rest of the way. 2-1 Charlotte! |

NBA Playoffs Second Round Day 8
(3) Charlotte at (2) Cleveland Game 4 - Charlotte leads 2-1 CHA:CLE 91:91 OVR 85:94 OFF 94:93 DEF First Quarter charlotte 32 Cleveland 18 Its pretty close with about 4 minutes left when we go on a tear. Mayo hits a 3 and a couple open shots late, Swanson hits a 3 and has a nice drive, we score the last 11 points of the quarter. Swanson 7, Mayo 7, Felton 6, sparks 4, Padgett 4, Walllace 2 so far. Lebron is 2-7 from the floor, 4 points/3 boards/3 assists. Mo Williams leads them with 6. Second Quarter Charlotte 56 Cleveland 48 We start the 2nd on an 8-2 run and lead 40-20 before Cleveland rolls off 15 straight and its reasonably close the rest of the quarter. Mayo leads us with 12, Sparks has a solid quarter and has 11 now. Felton 9, Swanson 7, Padgett 6. Mo Williams is completely carrying the Cavs with 17 points including 3-4 from 3. Harris 8, Lebron 7 points/4 boards/5 assists but shooting terribly. Third Quarter Charlotte 86 Cleveland 76 Lebron goes off this quarter for 16 points, he's now got 23 points/4 boards/6 assists/2 steals. But at one point in the quarter Felton and Mayo were hot and Padgett was heating up all at the same time. That cancelled out Lebron's tear pretty well. Mayo 22, Felton 18, Sparks 14, Padgett 10. Lebron 23, Mo Williams 17, Harris 12, Gordon 8. We're 12 minutes away from a 3-1 series lead if we can hold on to this lead. Fourth Quarter 8:30 to go - Yeah, we've got this. Swanson has made a couple great plays, one that I've saved and uploaded, and we have run out to a 99-80 lead and this is hopefully over. No need to update any more, I get some backups in, let Swanson play most of the 4th since he made some great plays early in the quarter. Cleveland eventually cuts the lead down to 10 but by then there's just about 1:10 left. A late 3 makes it 7 but we were completely in control all quarter. Charlotte 113 Cleveland 106 Mayo: 28 points/4 assists Swanson: 20 points/5 assists Felton: 18 points/5 assists Padgett: 16 points/11 boards Sparks: 14 points/5 boards Wallace: 6 points/7 boards/5 assists Henderson: 6 points Chandler: 5 points/5 boards Lebron puts up great numbers, 33 points/6 boards/8 assists. Mo Williams scores 28 and has 5 asists. No one else really contributes at all. We easily roll to a 3-1 series lead, heading back to Charlotte! I'd uploaded a Swanson bucket that I liked a lot but 2ksports seems to be having issues. Swanson can just do some things with the ball that Felton cannot. Felton may be better overall but I think I personally play better with Swanson. The frequency with which I get 15+ points out of Swanson compared to Felton speaks to that. Anyway, we're looking really good to advance to the conference finals, we just need to put it away now. |

Hm, that last patch really, really helped but I've still only had the feeling that I'm playing against the best player in the league for very very small stretches. Its asking a lot for the CPU to be able to model a 'one of the best ever' superstars without making him ridiculously overpowered I suppose. It seems like he has one quarter every game where he takes over for a period and is going to have a 10-15 point quarter, and Cleveland will go to him late in the 4th quarter with some pretty good consistency, but he disappears for stretches in the 2nd and 3rd quarter that would never happen in a playoff game in the real world. He can certainly burn Wallace or Henderson pretty much any time he gets the ball on the wing, but we do a pretty good job of helping out and not giving up too many easy dunks. I'm being nitpicky here, Lebron is getting good numbers every game and gets a number of easy buckets but the feel of "this is the best player in the NBA and he isn't going to let his team lose" isn't quite there yet. |

Oh, the video i uploaded for game 4 finally showed up correctly:
That's my rookie PG, Swanson. That kind of smooth, controlled play near the basket/in traffic is something I seem to be able to get with Swanson way way easier than I can with Felton, and is one of the reasons I'm considering letting Felton go this offseason if Swanson's development gives me any reason at all to believe he has a higher ceiling than Felton. |

NBA Playoffs Second Round Day 10
(2) Cleveland at (3) Charlotte Game 5 - Charlotte leads 3-1 CHA:CLE 91:91 OVR 85:94 OFF 94:93 DEF Elimination game for Cleveland, we try to put them away at home! First Quarter Charlotte 27 Cleveland 18 At one point midway through the quarter Cleveland was shooting 25% before Lebron got a couple buckets in a row. Their PF, Garrison, has 7 points/4 boards, James has 4 points/2 assists only. Padgett has a monster quarter for Charlotte, he's shooting 6-8 and has 13 points and 6 boards. Mayo 7 points/3 assists, Felton 4, Swanson 3. Second Quarter Charlotte 53 Cleveland 36 Cleveland is shooting 36%, our defense is playing great. Our two stars are really carrying us into the Conference Finals here. Mayo has 20 points/4 boards/3 assists, Padgett has 19 points/6 boards. Swanson 5, Felton 4, Henderson 3, Sparks 2. Lebron is shooting 3-11 and only has 6 points. Gordon 12, Garrison 9 for Cleveland. Looking good! Third Quarter Charlotte 67 Cleveland 63 Really? Wow. Cleveland scores the first 9 points of the quarter and gets the lead under 10, they slowly work the lead down the rest of the way, getting it as close as 3 and only trailling by 4 now. That was a 27-14 3rd quarter. Padgett 24, Mayo 24, no one else more than 5. Swanson is 2-8, Felton is 2-9. Gordon still leads leveland with 18, Garrison 15, but Lebron did wake up a little and he now has 14 points/6 boards/5 assists. We are shooting 45% on the game, Cleveland 40%. Fourth Quarter We open the quarter with Swanson/Henderson/Wallace/Padgett/Sparks 8:50 to go - Cleveland scored first but then we rattle off 10 straight, its 77-65. Mayo and Lebron are both still sitting. 7:40 to go - 4 straight for Cleveland and I take a timeout to get some rest for the bigs. Felton/Mayo/Henderson/Fisher/Chandler on the floor now. Lebron came back in after a foul about a minute ago. 77-69. 6:00 to go - James has the last 4 for Cleveland, Mayo the last 4 for Charlotte, its 83-73. 5:00 to go - Starters back in for both teams, and we've pretty much ended it,Mayo a 3, Padgett a hook shot, 88-73. We do indeed coast from there! Charlotte 101 Cleveland 87 Mayo: 35 points/6 boards/5 assists Padgett: 28 points/10 boards Swanson: 11 points/8 assists Henderson: 7 points Sparks: 6 points/8 boards Wallace: 6 points Felton: 4 points/6 boards/6 assists Chandler: 4 points/5 boards Lebron with a solid 4th quarter to finish with 24 points/7 boards/7 assists. Eric Gordon 22 points, Garrison 17 points/10 boards. Mayo and Padgett put on a hell of a show today to advance us past the Cavs to the Conference Finals! |

New Orleans 6. Portland 4. Miami 3. Charlotte Portland has crushed the Lakers and Denver. I would think that New Orleans and Charlotte are pretty heavily favored to meet in the finals now, but who knows with Portland. Miami however... I really expect a sweep. Seems like we're catching every team without a post game in the playoffs, Padgett should go nuts again. |

Miami Scouting
PG Mario Chamlers - 79 OVR - 10.4 ppg/5.8 apg - B+ hands/A outside/A- perimeter D, not exactly what you want from your second best player, but when your best player is Wade I guess its good enough for the playoffs. SG Dwayne Wade - 97 OVR - 26.4 ppg/7.8 apg - 53% shooting this year, a career high. A+ hands/A- inside/A outside/A- defense, one of the top 4 stars in the league. SF Benjamin Sloan - 79 OVR - 10.5 ppg/6.4 rpg - Just 22 years old, 1.3 in the 2011 draft. B- inside/B- perimeter D. He's pretty good athlete to try to make up for the average'ish ratings(a lot like Wallace and some other mid-level SF's I've seen). PF Troy Murphy - 70 OVR - 6.2 ppg/8.0 rpg - Murphy is unhappy at 27 minutes/game. B+ rebounding, terrible D, not a good scorer. C Jermaine O'Neal - 74 OVR - 9.2 ppg/7.6 rpg - B- rebounding/B+ inside/B defense. O'Neal is 35 years old and tiring quickly. Jeff Teague is rated 75 OVR and averages 14.6 ppg in 25 minutes off the bench. SG Randolph Edwin is rated 74 OVR and averages 6 per game. Basically what it comes down to is that CPU Wade probably can't win a game by himself and we have too much depth and two big scorers. Padgett could score 30/game this series. |

NBA Playoffs Conference Finals Day 2
(4) Miami at (3) Charlotte Game 1 CHA:MIA 91:81 OVR 85:84 OFF 94:80 DEF Watch me lose this one after proclaiming that I expect a sweep here. First Quarter Miami 25 Charlotte 23 Miami hits everything for the first 8 minutes it seems. Sloan is on fire and scores 12, Wade scores 7, a few others with 2. Mayo goes 6-8 and has 12 points too, Padgett 8, Felton 3 for all of our points. Second Quarter Miami 40 Charlotte 40 Swanson hits a jumper at the buzzer to tie it up. We score all of 17 points this quarter but hold Miami to 15. Sloan has 14, Wade 10 for Miami. No one else has more than 4. Mayo 14, Padgett 12, Felton 7, no one else more than 3. Midway through the first quarter both teams were shooting above 65%, but now we're both under 50%. Third Quarter Miami 68 Charlotte 64 Wade showed me something this quarter that I've never seen from any of the superstars in the league, including Lebron. Wade scored 11 of the first 13 points of the quarter for Miami. Lebron had a 17 point quarter in the last series but it wasn't the same kind of explosiveness over a short period of time. Over that same stretch Mayo scored 7 for us. Wade has 23, Sloan 21, Teague 8. Sloan is shooting 10-16 and is the big beneficiary of Wade's 6 assists. Mayo 23, Padgett 18, Felton 10 on our side. We're in a much, much tougher battle than I expected obviously. Hopefully we can have a great 4th like we did in most of our games vs Cleveland. Fourth Quarter Felton/swanson/Henderson/Padgett/Chandler are on the court now. 9:30 to go - Starting 5 are back in on both sides, Wade was sitting too. Miami leads 70-69, Felton just hit a nice 3 point play. 7:40 to go - down 72-71, Swanson/Mayo/Wallace/Fisher/Sparks, gotta get these guys a little rest to finish the game off. 6:00 to go - Felton/Swanson/Wallace/Padgett/sparks, backup guard Edwin for Miami drains a 3 and helps push their lead back to 4, its 79-75. 4:50 to go - Padgett and Wallace score and we get a couple nice stops to tie the game back up at 79. 4:00 to go - 82-81 miami, Teague hits a 3, Padgett a jumper for us. All starters are back in as we get a timeout. 2:40 to go - Its still 82-81 Miami Sparks misses an easy shot, Felton a runner in the lane, but Miami isn't scoring either... 1:50 to go - Sloan with a 10 footer for Miami, Wallace with 2 free throws, its 84-83 miami, miami ball. Sparks misses another point blank shot, this one a 5 footer with no one in front of him. I don't think he'll be touching the ball on offense the rest of the way. 1:05 to go - O'Neal with a tough 15 foot turnaround for Miami, Padgett misses a tough shot on our end, and Miami has the ball up 3, 86-83. 0:50 to go - Wade with a midrange jumper, Mayo with a dunk, 88-85 Miami. 0:40 to go - Wade takes it himself and draws a foul on Wallace, both free throws are good, 90-85. 0:31 to go - Felton draws a foul, but ony hits one free throw... 90-86. We foul, they hit two free throws, and we fail to score on our next trip... that'll do it. Miami 93 Charlotte 86 Wade didn't really do much in the 4th, but Miami was pretty smart with their lineup, running Teague/Chalmers/Wade/Sloan/O'Neal in the 4th instead of having Troy Murphy out there. I just wasn't able to get Padgett to abuse the matchup. If we have another close game I'll have to work Padgett a lot more. Mayo: 27 points Padgett: 22 points Felton: 14 points Wallace: 11 points Chandler: 6 points/7 boards Swanson: 4 points/4 assists Sparks: 2 points/13 boards For Miami, Wade scores 29 points and dishes out 8 assists, Sloan scores 24, Teague 13. Wade was a lot better this game than when i faced him in the regular season, and Sloan was a *much* better compliment than I expected. I still think we'll win the series but definitely an eye opener. Miami up 1-0! |

Oh yeah, this was Wade during his stretch where he scored 11 of 13 points for Miami at the start of the 3rd quarter, blows by Mayo and scores while falling down against 3 Bobcats:

Eastern Conference Finals Game 2
(4) Miami at (3) Charlotte Miami leads 1-0 CHA:MIA 93:82 OVR 87:84 OFF 95:81 DEF We clearly cannot afford to go to Miami down 2-0. First Quarter Miami 30 Charlotte 29 Miami is just getting *way* more support for Wade than I thought they were capable of. sloan scores 11, Chalmers has 9 points/4 assists and Wade has 7. Mayo leads us with 10, Sparks 5, Padgett 4, Felton 4, Swanson 4. We're 0-5 from 3, Miami is 3-3. Second Quarter Charlotte 56 Miami 54 It looks like we're in for another battle to the end here. Sloan 11, Chalmers 9, O'Neal 8, Wade 8, Edwin 7, very balaned scoring for Miami, they are really impressing me here. Mayo leads us with 18, Padgett 10, Swanson 7, Sparks 7, a few others with 4 and 2. We go 2-4 from 3 this quarter, Swanson hits the open 3's as good as anyone, he got one of those. Third Quarter Miami 79 Charlotte 75 Its back and forth, literally, 1 point leads for each team with tons of lead changes... our guys tire out and Miami gets a small lead after we sit everyone. Miami still has great balance, Sloan 15, Wade 14, Chalmers 12, O'Neal 10. Mayo leads us with 22(just 4 in the 3rd though), Padgett 16, Sparks 9 points/7 boards, Swanson and Chandler have 7 each. Padgett is only shooting 6-14, but he does have 4 blocks. Fourth Quarter We open the 4th with Bibby, Mayo, Henderson, Padgett, and Chandler. I'll get Swanson in for Bibby at the first break. 9:40 to go - We are in some trouble here, 87-79 Miami... they've hit a couple 3's, Swanson has missed a couple in close, this is bad. 8:55 to go - There we go, Swanson 4 straight, good stop on the other end, Miami takes a timeout leading 87-83. Starters are all in. 7:05 to go - Felton with a great double clutch 3 point play inside, drawing a foul on Sloan to tie it up at 90. fisher is in for Padgett. 6:00 to go - Mayo hits a big 3 and we take the lead, 95-93. According to the little stat line at the bottom we're on a 16-6 run over the last 5 minutes. 5:30 to go - 97-93 after two free throws for Mayo. Felton/Swanson/Wallace/Padgett/Sparks, Mayo needs a little break to get to the end with energy. Felton/Wallace/Sparks are going to be gassed and probably won't be on the court at the end. 3:40 to go - We lead 99-97, Padgett missed two tough shots on our last two trips. Starters are all back in, I get a timeout. Miami goes to their small lineup, Teague/Chalmers/Wade/Sloan/O'Neal. 2:45 to go - Sparks with a great steal, stepping in the passing lane and piking off a Wade to O'Neal pass, outlet to Mayo, feed to Wallace for a dunk! We're up 103-97. 1:35 to go - We lead 105-101, its our ball, I call a timeout. Mayo has had a great quarter(13 in the 4th/35 total) and is really carrying us here. 1:08 to go - Taht should do it! Mayo with a midrange jumper, Sparks blocks a Wade drive, Mayo feeds Felton for a layup, its 109-101!! 0:37 to go - sloan with a quick bucket for Miami, Mayo misses a turnaround on our end, Chalmers with a 3 for Miami, and all of a sudden its 109-106. 0:13 to go - Mayo gets it to Padgett in the post, Padgett back out to Mayo for a 22 foot jumper, 111-106. 0:04 to go - I double Wade which leaves chalmers open for another 3, 111-109. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Well this is embarrassing. You don't usually get mental mistakes deciding computer games, holy shit. So I play these games with the sound off listening to podcasts. After the Chalmers 3 I inbounds it to Mayo, he gets fouled. There's usually a 5-10 second delay before the free throw attempts, so I put the controller down and type out that last update about Chalmers hitting a 3. I didn't realize that Miami hadn't committed 5 fouls in the quarter yet, so as I'm typing with the controller in my lap we are supposed to be inbounding the ball. I look up and see "Five Second Violation." Miami inbounds to Wade, he hits Chalmers cutting towards the basket, Chalmers is hit by Mayo but still gets his shot to go. He hits the free throw, and there's only 0.6 seconds left. Mayo misses a shot at the buzzer. This is the video game version of the Chris Webber timeout. Miami 112 Charlotte 111 Mayo: 39 points Padgett: 18 points/7 boards/5 blocks Sparks: 11 points/11 boards Swanson: 11 points/4 assists Wallace: 10 points Felton: 9 points/7 assists Chandler: 7 points Henderson: 4 points Fisher: 2 points Chalmers comes up huge, 22 poits/4 boards/6 assists, he shoots 4-5 from 3. Wade has 21 points/6 boards/8 assists. Sloan 21 points. The horrible ending notwithstanding, I'm really, really impressed with Miami, I really expected them to be Wade and nothing else. Welp, we're down 2-0, time to go steal 2 in Miami. |

Eastern Conference Finals Game 3
(3) Charlotte at (4) Miami Miami leads 2-0 CHA:MIA 93:82 OVR 87:85 OFF 95:80 DEF I pretty much need to get another game in ASAP to erase the horrid feeling from losing game 2 like i did. First Quarter Miami 28 Charlotte 27 Its Wade and Mayo here today. Wade scores 11 and dishes 2 assists. Chalmers gets 2 fouls very early and they rotate around a lot as a result. Teague has 4. Mayo scores 15 for us. Padgett 5, Felton 4, Sparks 3. Second Quarter Miami 59 Charlotte 57 Wade with an unbelievable 3 point play scoring through a doubleteam with 0.6 seconds left in the half. Wade and Mayo are having an epic battle here: Wade: 24 points/1 board/5 assists/1 steal Mayo: 28 points/1 board/1 assist Padgett 9, Sparks, Felton and Henderson all have 5. backups Edwin and Cooper have 7 for miami. Chalmers has played all of 4 minutes and has 3 fouls. Third Quarter Charlotte 87 Miami 86 Miami scores the first 7 of the quarter and goes up 66-57 before we get going. We go on a major tear from there and tie it up around 72. We actually go up by as much as 5. Wade now has 33 points and 10 assists, just a monster performance from him. Teague 10, Sloan 8, Cooper/Edwin 7. Mayo has 30 with 2 assists for us, Padgett had a strong 3rd quarter and has 18 points/6 boards now, and Wallace has picked it up with 14 points. Sparks 9 points/6 boards, Felton 9. As you can probably guess there hasn't been a whole lot of defense here. Both teams are shooting 60% heh. Fourth Quarter We open the quarter with Felton/Mayo/Wallace/Padgett/Chandler. 9:00 to go - We start off the quarter very strong, 98-90 lead. 6:45 to go - 103-93, this is way more like it. 4:30 to go - 109-97, Mayo just got his 40th point. We lead by 12 with a minute left, Miami scores a few at the end as I'm just running out the clock but its a very easy win for us. Charlotte 116 Miami 109 Mayo: 45 points Padgett: 20 points/8 boards Wallace: 17 points Felton: 12 points/8 assists Sparks: 10 points/8 boards Henderson: 5 points Fisher: 4 points Chandler: 2 points Swanson: 1 point Wade has a great game, 41 points/13 assists on 18-27 shooting. Teague 15, Sloan 14, Edwin 11. Wade's great game just happened to come when Mayo was just as strong. Miami leads 2-1, we're on our way bak! |

Eastern Conference Finals Game 4
(3) Charlotte at (4) Miami Miami leads 2-1 CHA:MIA 93:82 OVR 87:85 OFF 95:80 DEF Time to even the series back up! First Quarter Charlotte 31 Miami 23 Padgett 12, Felton 10, Mayo 7, Sparks 2, that's all our points. Felton hits a 3 and gets to the rim really well this quarter. Wade has 7 points/4 assists for the Heat, no one else over 4. Second Quarter Charlotte 55 Miami 46 We pull ahead by 13 or 14 but it ends up a pretty even 2nd quarter. Padgett 17, Felton 16 points/5 assists, Mayo 9, Swanson 7, Sparks 6 points/6 boards. I love when I get a game like this from Felton (or anyone not Mayo/Padgett). Wade has 11 points/5 assists at the half, Sloan 9, O'Neal 8. I'm worried about Wade waking up and taking over with only 11 points. Third Quarter Charlotte 79 Miami 68 We're rolling right along keeping our lead around 10 points. I keep it going with Felton, he's leading everyone with 28 points and 5 assists. Towards the end of the quarter I had Felton and 4 backups, Swanson was cold and Felton was really the only scoring option, and he was able to take advantage. Padgett 19, Mayo 13. We're making Wade pass, he's doing it a lot, but he's not scoring enough, 13 points/11 assists for Wade. 16 for Chalmers, Sloan 13. Fourth Quarter 7:50 to go - Slow start for both teams, but Wade just hit a three and its 81-75 all of a sudden. 5:50 to go - Defenses are stepping up big this quarter, its now 83-77. Halfway through the quarter Miami has 9, we have 4. 4:00 to go - epic inability to score here. Sparks just hit two free throws to make it 85-77. 8 minutes into the quarter and its 9-6 miami. 3:45 to go - Miami scores, first points in two minutes, and its 85-79. I get a timeout and get my starters in(we've been rotating people). 2:30 to go - A wade 3 point play keeps them in it, its 90-85. Felton is up over 30 points now. 1:30 to go - Stops on each end before Wallace hits a short runner to put us up 92-85. 1:00 to go - Miami scores, Wallace makes a really bad crosscourt pass that Chalmers intercepts and turns into a layup, its 92-89. 0:48 to go - Wallace with a dunk, 94-89. Miami shoots quickly and misses a 3, we run the shot clock down but Felton misses a 3. Miami rebounds and shoots quickly again, they miss, Sparks with a board and a free throw in the final 10 seconds. Chalmers hits a meaningless jumper to give us our final score. Charlotte 95 Miami 91 Felton: 32 points/7 assists Padgett: 22 points/6 boards Mayo: 15 points Sparks: 11 points/15 boards Swanson: 9 points Wallace: 4 points/7 boards Henderson: 2 points Wade scores well in the 4th but we don't make many mistakes at all, and the defense early made it real slow going. Wade ends up with 23 points/14 assists, a strong showing but he shot 10-27 from the field. Chalmers scores 23, Sloan 15, O'Neal 10. We've evened the series back up at 2! |
