Dola
Matt Cooke in a crazy roundabout way saying he thinks PK Subban intentionally stepped on Staal's foot to injure him. I really, really, really, really hope Cooke is just trying to get in Subban's head, cause I can't see how you can possibly believe that. Or that I am just reading/hearing it wrong.

I like how this one has started so far. I thought Detroit would come out with a lot more urgency and press the Sharks early. They have not.
They have also continued to take stupid penalties.

This final 10 of the first period is more of what I was expecting from Detroit.
SJ needs to get the puck in deep and try to control the tempo more in the 2nd if they want to get back in this one.

Yep. I have always been on Mike Babcock's side when some nutty Wings fan calls for him to be fired, but I am starting to wonder if he lost this team. No forwards backchecking, lazy defenseman in their own end, and too many stupid penalties (looks at Holmstrom). Well, here is to a longer summer than usual, maybe it will help these guys get their heads out of their collective asses. |

Wow. Up 3-0 on the Wings...I would have put long, long odds on that happening at the start of the series.

Some timely scoring, and Tuukka staying strong gives the B's a 4-1 win and a 3-zip series lead! Praying Krejci is okay though.

So basically it's up to Savard and Bergeron to carry the team's offense. Krejci was a key playmaker and the team doesn't have anyone to replace him.

Son of a bitch.
Really need Sobotka to regain his form from the Buffalo series now. Who do they bring up, Marchand? |

It's between Whitfield and Marchand for the last forward spot. Whitfield has playoff experience and Marchand brings a Sobotka-like edge to his game. Neither are offensive options. I hear Marc Stuart is going to play for McQuaid as Stuart is now healthy enough to go. That's a good trade for the Bruins.

Jordan Staal playing tonight...5 days after surgery on a tendon in his foot.
A little over 7 mins of ice through 2 periods, but still crazy.

Winnipeg once again being teased with the prospects of the Coyotes returning. I'm 99% sure we are just being used again, but as usual a little part of me yearns badly for it to be true.

Stuart was cleared to play tonight for the Bruins and will be a GTD, but by all accounts will start for McQuaid on the third D pairing. Definite plus for the B's there.
Is Philly really planning on playing Gagne tonight? |

Looks like they went with Whitfield. I think I would've rather given some playoff experience to a guy who could fit into Boston's future (Marchand) than a stable, yet unspectacular journeymen (Whitfield). Particularly, when the difference between the two is marginal at best, and the Bruins are up 3-0. With that said...here's hoping Whitfield pots the GWG. |

It's kind of sad the moral victory is when your team only gives up 2 in a loss. It's been that kind of playoffs for the Wings.
And now, I'm cheering for anybody but the Pens. I really don't want to deal with a Pens loving pastor more than I have to.

I'll be rooting for the Sharks the rest of the way. Heatley may be a tool, but I have tons of respect for McLellan and would like to see him win the cup as a head coach.
Plus I have to maintain my opposition to all of the Blackhawk fair-weather fans around here.

Savard is a little punk, someone needs to face plant him into the boards again. First he bites someone now cross checking Richards in the face.

I was gonna say, don't look now but the Habs are playing some inspired hockey right now. I felt that starting with Camalleri's second goal last night, they looked like they wanted it way more and I'm thinking the Pens could be in trouble if they fal down a goal early on in game 7. Been a crazy series in our house with my son a big Habs fan and my wife a big Crosby and by rebound Pens fan. Me, I'm in the middle, sort of, what with being a Nords fan all those years. Cheering for the Habs is not something that comes naturally to me, heh. FM

I think if the Habs take out the Pens and The Caps it would be hard not to cheer for them. They would definatly deserve it.

This has been an amazing three weeks. After not watching much hockey for the past ten years, it has been invigorating to cheer for my Habs in the playoffs again. She Who Must be Obeyed has even been startled by my profane outbursts at the referees and my idolatry of Halak and the defense corps.
Crosby has gone from national hero to a snot nosed whiner in under three months.

With all due respect to Canadian national pride and Penguins fans, the rest of us (and the rest of the league) have always known Crosby was a snot nosed whiner.
