GAME 39 - Sunday, May 13th - Radio Broadcast
Well the FOFCers have finally taken to the road again. This time against the tough Pre-Nationals. On the mound tonight for the All-Stars is Babson with a 5 adn 2 record and his opponent is Burleigh Grimes who is 6 and 0 with an ERA in the low 3s. The lineup will go like this: The FOFCers will start with A.Tucker in CF - the guy is playing to good to take him out for any period of time. K.Terp at SS gets the start tonight, trying to keep Terp focused on the season. P.Pflaggstettler RF - continues to swing a hot bat J.Potpie 1B - finally got that 12th homerun. Let's see if he can go on another run. D.Fouts 3B - gets another start - Benton is trying to get that bat going. H.Hays C - this guy has been unbelievable. He'd be playing everyday, but Bullock has been tough too. K.Ton LF - another bat that Breeze wants to see heat up. Hopefully I can build off this decent performance.. /tk

It's kind of depressing that going 1 for 4 raised my average seven points. Still, nice to see the power's there.

FOFC Dynasty Update
I know write ups have been lacking, but I'm trying to squeeze some stuff in during the holidays, so the dynasty doesn't become completely stagnant. I'll get back to more of the interactive posting in '06 (and yes, I'll try harder to get my uploads onto the server to the website will get caught up). |

FOFC MANAGER UPDATE
Press Conference Stan Hack - "Benton you've lost 3 in row now." I roll my eyes, and look at him, sigh and ask, "Was that a question?" I looks at me shocked like how can you be so stupid, then he says, "Yes." "OK, um...well yes - we have lost 3 in a row." I look around for the next question, but before I can get one, Hack barks out, "Does that bother you?" "I'm not thrilled about it, but I knew it would happen sooner or later, and will undoubtedly happen again at some point during the season." Hack, still chiming in before everyone else, "What about the clubhouse?" I shake my head thinking, 'What about the clubhouse. It's not bad for a road clubhouse. Chairs are comfortable, and we have televisions to watch. IDIOT', but I bite my tongue and say, "I assume your asking how the players feel about the losing streak?" Same stupid look answers my question "I'm sure they feel like me. We don't like to lose, and you really don't like to get on a losing streak, but when you have the best record in baseball by 6 or 7 games and we are only half way through the second month - it's a little easier to swallow." Stan starts to ask another question, but before he can finish I say, "Lou," and point to him. Lou Scribe says, "Why did you leave Rodney in so long? You were leading when you brought him in and losing when you took him out. Why not pull him quicker." "Good question. Actually, I decided to let him pitch for 2 reasons. The first was that I wanted to see how he would handle the adversity. I don't want to be facing the same situation in the playoffs, without knowing how he's going to perform under pressure. Secondly, I was looking for a strikeout and Rodney is probably the best at getting one on the team, unfortunately he didn't this time." Blaine Crease asks, "Since Rodney didn't get the job done, does this mean we can expect to see him in mop up duty for a while?" "Hardly. You have to remember he got the first out. Then gave up a single. The key was the walk on the full count. If he had gotten that call, I doubt they'd have gotten a run in the inning. There is a huge difference in two outs and 1 on first then 1 out and men on first and second." Scribe again, "Benton, Pflaggstettler has really fallen off. Do you expect to juggle your lineup because of that?" "Actually, Percy grabbed me on the way in here, and told me I probably aught to drop him in the order. So he recognizes he's struggling a bit, but in all honesty, did you really expect him to hit .360 for the season? He's doing fine. I'll probably give him a few days off, let him get his head right and work him back into the line. Will he hit third? I don't know. Hayes and Palmer are playing well right now, maybe one of them moves into that spot." Hack, "What about the other players?" I can't hold my tongue this time, "What about what with the other players?" He just looks at me. Crease chimes in, "Are some of the other players aware of your plans and are they excited about the juggling of the lineup or the chance to see the field more?" "I haven't told them, but I'm sure they are. Everyone on this team is great, and they all want to play everyday - this will give a couple players a few chances to shine." Gentlemen, that's going to have to do it for tonight. We'll talk to you after the next game. Last edited by Breeze : 01-11-2006 at 07:18 AM. |

Well fokes we thought we were going to get a match up of 2 premier lefties today, but the Post-Nationals didn't cooperate. FOFC Manager Update
Press Conference Stan Hack, "4 in a row now." "Yes Stan, 4 comes after 3," I say sardonically. Lou jumps in quickly,"Coach, why so many new players in the lineup tonight?" "I wanted to get some players at bats. It's been a while since Terp played, Fouts, Ton, and Bullock have been on the bench a bit too. Plus with the tough righy in Gibson it gave me a chance to work the lefties in." "What made you decide to change pitchers in the 8th?" Blaine Crease asked. "We'll after Mighty gave up the hit to Morgan, I really didn't want the lefty late in the game facing Clemente and Aaron with runners on." "Why Kronside?" Crease follows up. We'll with Musial behind Aaron in the order, I wanted a pitcher that was RH but performs well against lefties. Kronside is the best one we have in the pen for that, plus Rodney pitched last night." "So you didn't have confidence in Rodney?" Hack asks. I think, wow he actually formed the sentence as a question. "Last nights loss had nothing to do with Rodney not pitching. It was simply Kronside's turn to throw." "Why leave Kronside in so long?" Lou querries. "We'll to be honest...we intentially walked Aaron, then he gets the double play I was hoping for. Then he walks Campanella...no problem. I rather him walk the guy with a base open then to give up a hit and allow a run to score. Plus he was close on the full count pitch. Then the next guy, Banks is almost a carbon copy of the Campy at bat. The only bad series of pitches he has were the ones to Schmidt. That was the 1 walk that hurt." "Have you lost confidence in Jace now too?" Hack smirks. "I haven't lost confidence in anyone, Stan, but as soon as I do, I promise you'll be the first to know." "Good night gentlemen, see you at the park tomorrow." Last edited by Breeze : 01-13-2006 at 07:48 AM. |

2.27 ERA (league leading, or very close I would think) with a 3-3 record? That's screwed up. Being the lazy ass I am, I won't look it up, but I wonder what the run production has been for the games/starting pitchers?

The FOFCers are coming into this game with a 4 game losing streak. To try and get some good carma, Benton Breeze has decided to go with Williams today on the hill. FOFC Manager Update
I make it though the press conference without hitting any of the writers (not an easy task). In fact, I didn't even raise my voice, but I will admit answering some questions with a pretty peturbed tone of voice. I get home, get to sleep and wake up the next morning to read how the "Magic is Gone" and that "FOFCers are a Flash in the Pan". I want to scream, but I don't, remembering I'm in a hotel. I open to the baseball section and see how we are doing in the standings... |

TE, By my quick calculations I count 37 runs scored in your 10 starts so 3.7 runs per game (aren't you impressed with how I figured that one out? ) However, one of those starts you received 8 runs of support. Take that away and your are looking at 3.22 runs per start. Last edited by Breeze : 01-16-2006 at 09:21 PM. |

FOFC Manger Update
We lose another one and as I'm heading down the tunnel to the club house I'm scratching my head wondering how a team withe 3 guys in the league leaders for lowest ERA can get on a losing streak this long. And it isn't like we don't have hitters...we had 4 starters in the lineup tonight that finished the game above a .300 average. Sal Maglie passes me and says as he goes by..."Might want to think about making a sacrafice to the baseball gods" After a short pause he yells, "Anyone got a live chicken handy?" |

GAME 48 - Wednesday, May 22nd - Radio Broadcast
"Rob Nielsen's turn to see if he can stop the bleading," says play by play man Red Barber. "Rob's got the kind of personality you like to have in a situation like this. A little bit of a chip on his shoulder, and a tough personna. I think he's going to get it done," answers color guy Hal McRae. Barber adds,"He'll have his work cut out for him, going against Tom Seaver who only lost 1 so far this season." Well Benton's line up for tonight goes like this: A.Tucker CF - who's hitting over .300 and has a nice 10 game hitting streak going J.Nights SS - also hitting over .300 and is really setting the table nicely P.Pflaggstettler RF - coming off a slump but played well last night with a 2 for 3 performance J.Potpie 1B - the all-stars really need this guy to get hot again. D.Palmer 3B - solid season thus far, but more power from this slot would help H.Hays C - he's been fantastic on offense and defense S.Gunner LF - going with the power hitting lefty against the righty Seaver S.Treacy 2B - boy has this guy stepped up. Blad has been struggling at the plate, but Treacy has been solid since being inserted into the starting lineup. R.Nielsen P - another no hitter would be real nice for this team right about now The Post Nationals go with... J.Morgan 2B - power, speed, average - very dangerous guy at the top of the order P.Rose LF - ironically the best thing that may have happened to the post-nationals is Mays getting hurt, because Rose has been an awesome table setter for the this team. R.Clemente RF - continues to pound the ball consistently H.Aaron CF - been great since coming back from the early season injury S.Musial 1B - as good a lefty as there is in the game R.Campanella C - starting to get more playing time and the bat is coming around because of it. E.Banks SS - power from the ss position M.Schmidt 3B - getting his start against the lefty T.Seaver P - dangerous hitter as well as pitcher. Fly ball to center Aaron is under it He makes the grab Seaver retires the first batter to face him in the top of the 1st Fastball... Nights jumps all over it... It's juiced to deep center There goes Aaron after it Racing hard... He dives... And he's got it!!! Beautiful play by Hank Aaron! That's the second out of the inning Pflaggstettler hits a three hopper towards Tom Seaver Seaver scoops it and fires it to first for the out Sinking fastball... Morgan swings over the top of it... Hammers a hard grounder right at Nights... He scoops it up, throws to first... Out by a step One gone for NL Post WWII Nielsen comes with his best heat...
