But really, we're splitting hairs here. This wasn't exclusively about differences in academics between the UW and the others on his list - there reportedly are some reasons why his dad doesn't feel as strong of a connection to his alma mater as you'd expect, and Josh has internalized that. Under normal circumstances, he should've been a lock to the UW. |

UCLA took one kid from UW and landed another from Georgia. Not a fan of Legace, the UW kid though

USC flipped 4 star JC DE Morgan Breslin from UCLA. Breslin led the CCCAA with 29.5 sacks over the last 2 years. He'll have 3 years to play 2.

Not exactly a recruit, but former Maryland OT RJ Dill will be going for his graduate degree at Rutgers. Fills a major need.

Missouri 3* WR Jehu Chesson picked Michigan today. Kid is super raw but his potential is off the charts. Great size/speed combination.

There's more than me, but I'm the one to talk a bunch during the games. I get it from my Dad since he was born and raised there so I get the endless SEC talk. I split time between Michigan and 'Bama, but he tends to give me most of my 'Bama news since that's all he cares about. I tend to read less about 'Bama just because right now I know the program is in good shape as where Michigan I'm always looking for good news.

USC got 4 star JC S Gerald Bowman today. Kid has very good range and could push for PT right away if McDonald goes pro. Since, he is an EE he doesn't count against the limit of 15 either.

A coach on the staff has leaked that Dorial Green-Beckham's final two options are Arkansas and Mizzou. Shouldn't be terribly surprising for those that have followed the recruitment. The OU transfers have scared him from that program and the other schools are too far away from home.

Top QB in the nation, Gunner Kiel, is supposed to announce tomorrow or at latest by Saturday morning. If LSU wasn't the farthest school away, I think he would easily be a Tiger. But, as it is, no one team between ND, Vandy, and LSU is a good bet.
In a case like this, with a good kid from a well off family, I could easily see him not worrying about distance. But who knows... |

Updating this, a Rutgers Rivals guy citing someone close to the Bosco program is saying that Shumate and Yuri Wright are both silent commits to ND. Sucks to not get Shumate even though we were always trailing. Wright has the lofty national ranking but guys who follow NJ football closely think he's inflated based on potential, so not much of a loss. |

With the mass turnover 'Bama has in the secondary he'll get a chance to play. Quote:
I'm guessing 'Bama got removed from the race due to limited amount of scholarships left to hand out. LSU wasn't even on his list and then they are there in the end.

Bama and OU were early favorites but didn't stay that hot on him throughout the process. LSU did, and Kragthorpe really impressed him as a QB coach. LSU and Bama were both after the same southern QBs, but I think Kiel was on top of both their boards. |

He's a big stationary passer, not at all a fit for Meyer's offense.

I'm assuming he might work kinda well in a Norm Chow offense then. That must be why he is transferring. Seems interesting

If Tee Shepard goes to USC, Deonte Greenberry could flip to UCLA |

Overall, ND's momentum really stalled the past few months, but hopefully the recent commitments of 4* OT Ronnie Stanley, 4* RB Keivarae Russell, and some good news from the UA game pick it back up. |

No idea really, but I would really like Greenberry. If neither pick the local schools, it won't be the end of the world and I do think that the odds of them flipping are less than what they are of sticking with Notre Dame. Staley is a great pickup. The Offensive line talent on the west coast has been unreal this year |

Wow. There is no way I could be a college coach and deal with this kind of crap without losing it.
Rivals High - What's in a number? Apparently quite a bit Quote:

This is a main reason that I doubt Seymour ends up as a Trojan despite being a silent to them earlier in the year. His "me first" attitude doesn't jive with the team's new chemistry. Howard on the other hand... |

Wait, why? The kids are going to commit to being at a school, why on earth shouldn't something meaningful to them be a factor? Unlike the coaches, they can't bail for a payday at the next school. |

A factor? Crossing schools off your list because a number is taken? That's a little beyond a factor.
I'm sure having extra cash to spend, a hooker, and a cool car are important to recruits, too, but they ought to have someone responsible enough in their lives to explain what matters most. What bothers me about this is not necessarily that he cares so much about the number - kids will be kids - but that he's clueless enough to say it out loud to a reporter.

These kids are talking about numbers for an all-star game. Yes, they will want the right numbers for when they go to college, but this isn't it. This is merely a one time ordeal. College's have multiple players with the same numbers. The #34 for the Chicago Bears isn't famous because the number 34 made it so. It's famous because Payton made it famous.
