I'm in as well. I only like this game in 2-player and it would be fun playing against FOFC'ers.

I call the Blues if Galaxy sets up the league.

Don't worry. I'm not that either. I need to work on defense.

I can't figure out how to do a wrap-around.

I never did an online league before, so how does it work? Do you play a whole season? Do you play a shorten season then have a full-out playoff? Do you set a certain time each week to play?

I'll check it out tonight. Those that are interested, what are you gametags?

Alright, I just checked it out...

How many users?
How many games? 11 is the max.
How long of periods? I think 10 minutes would work best (20 is too long for online play).
Game speed? Slow, medium, or fast.

I'll setup the league once we decide on the proper settings. You have to search for it. How high do you want penalties and fighting sliders?

The league name will be fof. The password will be trout. So I don't need your gametags as long as you have the league name and password.

I think do need to decide teams here. I'm not sure if you pick a team, that team is gone or not.

Personally I would just say 5 minute periods but that might just be me. Is that 11 game per opponent or 11 games total?

Maybe 10 games, 10 min periods, penalties max, fighting in the middle, AS level

Actually, playing each team twice should be a good setting?

I just checked. It is games against each team. However, you can't pick two. You can pick one or three games (I'm guessing tie-breakers). Sorry about the confusion. So the games are how many against each opponent.

Also, how many users/teams? Where do you want the game speed?

I probably shouldn't do this....I'm going to back out. My schedule with how many other leagues I already do with other stuff probably shouldn't allow me to take on another.

I'd say 3 games against each opponent, 5 min periods and all the other defaults.

No rush. I figure we give it until two or three days so everyone can get a chance to join (maybe buy the game .

I'm thinking of starting a league-wide thread on the dynasty forum.

I'll try to join up tonight. Since I no longer have any real affiliation to a team, I'll take the 'Yotes unless there is anyone from Arizona that wants 'em.

Do online leagues have playoffs, or is it just a English Premier League system?

I have no idea. One other suggestion on this....perhaps we all send email addresses to Galaxy so he can mail us all at once on things? I'm sure it would be more efficient/quicker than the board.

I don't think there are playoffs, I think it's just the final standings determine the winner.

Back to topic, what was the final veredict about this game? What about the 2k8 one? Knowing that i never play online and that i enjoy deep solo franchise playing, are any of them good enough? do they have a lot of game stopping bugs?

I play both and like both for different reasons.

I would say the mass like NHL 08 over NHL 2k8, but that's not to say NHL 2k8 isn't at least worth a rental. I'm playing franchises on both and find NHL 08 frustrating at times as Pro is getting easy and All Star is too hard.. there is no middle ground imho - although YMMV.

I prefer 2k8 for solo play and NHL 08 for online and vs play.. but I have had fun in solo play at times as well. I REALLY like the AHL component in NHL 08, but the franchise mode is deeper in 2k8.

Bottom line: rent both

Yeah, I've played 3 games so far online. In the first one, I had DET on the ropes, but they run the backdoor play with 30 seconds to go to send it to OT, then win it in the extra frame.

My third game, I beat up Team Germany 10-0, and I'm sure it could have been worse. I took only point shots in the 3rd.

I've done a league like this with a handful of friends. You just play whenever you want, you can play the same guy three straight and then be done with games against him.

Unfortunately our league never completed because one of the guys bought The Orange Box and then Halo 3 and never touched NHL 08 again

I think you can add people in after the fact? If so, people could just start playing each other whenever.

That brings up a question I have though: how will I know when you guys are online? Should I add everyone in the league to my friends list?

When you go into 'My Leagues', it shows the online status of each person in the league. For example, I noticed that MizzouRah was online a couple of days ago, but I was getting ready to sign out, so I didn't invite him to play.

I can play anytime between 5 - 11 est Thursday, but then I'll be gone until Sunday around 1, of which I'll be free until like 11 est so if we're ready to go by Thursday I'll volunteer to be part of the (or one of the) first game.
