A couple of freebies have been picked up but quite a few are still on the board for people looking to bulk up their game count by 1.

I could take down all the rest of the arcade freebies, but since I'm allowed just one, it's F2. Frogger.

NES Classics (3rd Edition)
Today's Theme: NES Classics (3rd Edition)
Sure, we've done a lot of NES but there were a *ton* of games for that system. Over 700, to be precise. Don't worry- these will be the last for a while but they are ones I have screens up and ready to go so that's what you get today. I think I threw in some harder ones today but I never know. People seem to be a lot better at guessing these than I figure they will be so it's kindof hard to come up with stumpers that aren't really obscure. Administrative Still lots of freebies on the board to be cleaned up. Everyone has guesses for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so people can grab up to 3 games this weekend. Haven't gotten any submissions from anyone yet- if no one submits any games, well, I'm not sure what we're going to do Monday. The submission rules have been added to the rules post on the first page so they can be easily found. The standings and games lists have been updated on the first page. Status: Complete Game Rank: GSB and Freebies Freebie 1. Freebie 2. Freebie 3. Freebie 4. Bronze 1. Bronze 2. Bronze 3. Silver 1. Silver 2. Gold. Correct Answers F1. Paperboy (Chas in Cinti) F2. Ok, games updated for this most recent one. No one has correctly guessed the title for Bronze 3 yet.
I went with TargetPractice6 on the Gold because "Action52" was what I was really looking for. For those unfamiliar with what it is, it's one of those games widely regarded as the worst game for the NES (tho there certainly was some competition for that title). It's a set of 52 minigames, all of them bad, packed onto one cartidge. The particular one in the image was Cheetahman (Taz's guess) but I was thinking of it like WarioWare or Super Monkey Ball or anything which is comprised of a lot of smaller games- I would think it would be referred to the overall title, not by one of the smaller games. To answer NevStar's question, yes, you're allowed to guess once per day (game resets at midnight CST). I could have sworn I had that in the rules, but I guess not- I'll have to add it later on today when I have more time. Since the game has gone on this long, it's possible to have picked up 2 or even 3 GSBs this weekend. So, aside from GE and mrsimperless who have made Sunday guesses, everyone else can still make a guess. And that includes on the old freebies to bulk up game counts. Try to close out some of those old sets wink, wink Lastly, I've only gotten one set of guest submissions for tomorrow's game. I need more screenshots or we aren't having much of a game tomorrow. If you need help finding a screenie, VG Museum is great for older systems: http://www.vgmuseum.com/ (tho, there are lots of popups, beware) and for the N64 or PSX, newer sites like Gamespot and IGN have lots of quality shots. I actually owned that game (tough bastard, as many platformers were back in the day) so it's one of those I know for sure. While the title screen does just say Mickey Mouse, as NevStar showed, the game is actually called Mickey Mousecapade (see below, both the box and cartridge have that title on it) http://www.vgmuseum.com/scans/nes/micmouf.jpg Quote:

Unfortunately, I only got one set of submissions (thx, Airhog!) so no Guest Submissions today.
NevStar, Vince, terpkristin, and MIJB#19 pick up some freebies. Sorry, JeeberD, not the right N64 game. That one is still on the board along with freebies 3 and 4 on the Nintendo RPGs. If no one gets those before midnight tonight, they're getting retired. As to the ones answered, FF2 is probably my favorite game I've ever played and I give Chrono Trigger the mantle of "Best RPG Ever". They just don't make plots like those any more in RPGs. SI

I think some people would give you some objections with Goldeneye or Mario Kart, but all 3 are excellent. And the Gamecube version of SSB is even better- one of the top couple games for the system. "Nintendo RPGs; Freebie 4" is the only one left now. BTW, for the upcoming schedule, I have 3 sets of 6 for this Wed/Thu, Fri/Sat, and next Mon/Tues. But then the game will be gone for 2 weeks- this whole wedding thing (and subsequent honeymoon) getting in the way. The game will be back Wed/Thurs August 3rd/4th. SI

Another great, under-the-radar type game (a bit more popular than EarthBound, I believe).

Yeah, a crazy collaboration by Square and Nintendo. Not that the Paper Mario series is a direct sequel but had to be in some measure inspired by Seven Stars. Heck, I'm playing Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the GBA right now and that's along those same lines (good game, btw). That cleans up all of the games that were just hanging out there. All of their respective set pages have been updated with answers and who got them. The standings have also been updated as has the game list and the rules about one game per day, which I could have sworn was there, but I guess not. SI

PC FPSs
Today's Theme: PC FPSs
Last set was pretty hard- took a couple of days to get all of those off the board. Back to the PC for First Person Shooters and these should be a cakewalk. Most PC gamers worth their salt will recognize all of these games, with the possible exception of the Gold game. Hard to find really bad and/or unpopular FPSs since back in the day, the only ones that really suck or have no following just licensed one of the major engines so they looked just like the game they were made from. So the silvers and bronzes would be freebies and borderline bronzes on a regular day, but they're easy points today. Status: Complete Game Rank: GSB Only Bronze 1. Bronze 2. Bronze 3. Silver 1. Silver 2. Gold. Correct Answers B1. Quake (Wolfpack) B2. Half Life (Vince) B3. Doom2 (MattJones4Heisman) S1. Duke Nukem 3D (MattJones4Heisman) S2. Starseige: Tribes (Airhog) G. Doom is not correct, Duke Nukem 3D is. That's such a Duke Nukem type shot, I hesitated to use it, but it does a great job of capturing the essence of the game so I couldn't help but use it.
