Checking out for the night...if it happens, congrats to you guys.
If it doesn't, consider this a hell of a reverse jinx. |

Don't worry Broxton, Stairs can't get you while you're sitting in the bullpen.

Congrats Phillies.
Sorry, Sack. Maybe next year we can do it up proper.

I am stealing this quote from a Philly blog I read but it pretty much sums up my thoughts...and I'm sure the other Phillies fans in this thread would agree with it too.
"You follow sports hoping that one day you'll be rewarded and get to root for a team like these Phillies." |

That is apparently Kim Myers. Brett was accused of punching her in the face back in 2006.
She told the judge she didn't want him prosecuted and the case got dismissed. I'm not sure if rejecting him on national TV quite qualifies as a dish best served cold, but I can see where she might not be thrilled with the idea of lip wrestling the guy. |

I've seen a couple of places suggesting that he'd been smoking a cigar shortly before & that was what prompted her reaction. I dunno, looked more like a "I don't like you in that way" reaction to me.

Oh, he's got a cigar in-hand as he's moving in for the kiss. That might be why she's recoiling, but not knowing how marital relations have been in the last coupla, hard to know if it's either/or or a mix of the two.

Five straight hits and the Angels are up 4-0 with nobody out yet in the first inning, nice.

This is why we don't deserve to win this series, and it's fitting it's backs against the wall time, and the Angels are failing. You have to nut up and get the job done. Hey, Lackey, you want to stay in the game? Don't get fucking emotional. Do your damn job. Don't throw four straight balls to Jeter, like a sackless twit.
You don't put Scioscia in the position where he has to decide whether you're going to get the job. You just get the job done. That's what #1s do--and that's why you're not a true #1 and don't deserve to be paid like one.

I don't hate the Yankees. I respect what they have going on over there. They have guys who show up every damn game. I can't really say that about my team right now.

Still pissed at Lackey and Oliver.
But clearly the Angels hitters have some life after all.

That was a shitty stall tactic by the Yanks. I hope Figgins blasts a Rivera fastball down into the corner to score two.

Okay, I'll be back in a few hours. Heading to the emergency room. It's either an ulcer or heart papitations.
Damnit, Fuentes, WTH do you think you might have an easy inning in this postseason? Thank God, back to New York.

So is no one else around because y'all just assumed the series would end tonight? Can't say as I blame you.

I think they do, too. The Angels don't do things easy, it seems, even when they jump out to a big lead, so I don't see them handling the pressure going back to Game 6. Tonight was supposed to be the "easiest" game of the three needed to win, and it was insanely tense. That said, even if the Angels do somehow pull off Game Six, they still have CC to face in Game 7. Hard to see the Angels dodging both those bullets.

I fell asleep in the recliner before the Angels made their come back, woke up after the game and didn't see the score until this morning.
There's still hope! Go Angels!
