So the guy who wasn't willing to design an offense around Cam is now a HC.

Sounds like he wants Norv as his OC. To be fair, those would be two pretty good offensive minds on the same team.

Telasco and Caldwell, two of the newest GM's in the NFL were both classmates at St Francis here in Buffalo. Throw in a new Div I HC , Polian, and in one weekend three members from the same class from some small unknown (to non Buffalonians) private school reached a pretty high point in their respective fields.

Pretty good weekend for St Francis.

If true that will suck for the Alouettes.

So, a guy who was fired by his own son for coaching one of the worst defenses in the PAC-12 has just been promoted to Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator.

Makes perfect sense.

It does make perfect sense when you look at the 'Boys defensive roster that has for nearly a decade been built to be a 3-4 with man cover corners and one of the best blitzing LB's in the game... and knowing that this a 72 year old genius of a zone 4-3 scheme that teams seemed to figure out 5 years ago.

Perfect sense, Jerry. Time to hire Mouse Davis to run the O.

Looks like my beloved Cards are targeting Denver's OC Mike McCoy for their head coaching job. They are trying to get him to come in for a second interview, but he interviewed today for the Chargers head coaching job. I pretty much guessed they had chosen McCoy over their current DC Ray Horton when they didn't give the job to Horton right away after his two interviews with the team. It would sadly not surprise me to see them botch this and lose McCoy to the Chargers. I mean they couldn't even get Andy Reid to come talk to them after the Chiefs got to him first.

I have to admit I have mixed feelings if the choice is McCoy-if the kind of offense he's going to have is the same conservative John Fox branded offense, I hope he gets the Chargers job instead. But the guy worked wonders with Tebow during his time in Denver, so makes me wonder what he could do with Kolb.

I'd love to zssee the Jags pounce on some good options for coordinators out there, such as a certain special teams ace that just got dropped from Tennessee...

Trestman and Darrell Bevell going back for second interviews with the Bears. Bevell seems to be an out of nowhere guy.

Add Bruce Arians to that list.

I haven't the foggiest idea what the Eagles are doing. I thought they were going to give the job to Bradley, but if they were going to do that, I have no idea why they were interviewing Whisenhunt today. Anyone have Rich Kotite's number?

Of the three finalists for the Bears, give me Trestman.

Arians, while certainly qualified, I fear for his health. I'd just have this sneaking suspicion we'd be back to looking for a new head coach in a couple seasons with him.

Darrell Bevell screams flash in the pan hot coordinator to me, who will bomb as a head coach. He's never been a head coach at any level, and I don't think he'll fit well with a veteran-laden team.

McCoy is going to do a second interview with the Cards, so looking more and more like he will be their new coach.

Edit: Of course after reading the article about the second interview-two reporters both claimed he was going to go with San Diego.

KC sports radio just reported that he has told the Denver front office that he will be taking the Chargers job.

Well I think my beloved Cards may have dodged a bullet on this one, but organization looking pretty bad with Reid not even going for an interview and McCoy not going for a second after all. Can't blame McCoy though-Phillip Rivers vs Kevin Kolb isn't much of a contest. I would look for the Cards now to go to their backup plan Ray Horton and possibly bringing back ex-Cards Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley to give the defense-trained Horton some experienced offensive coaching.

I think McCoy is fine, who knows if he can be a head coach but he has a very good record as an offensive coach. I'd still much rather Arians though, and I'm slightly concerned that we are getting a guy with no defensive background given the way the talent on the team seems to be heading

I just can't seem to remember a more uninspiring group of choices in forever. Couple that with the complete lack of QB talent coming out and I wonder if any of these guys have a job in three years time.

Tom Brady had no talent
Tony Romo had no talent (wait, bad example...)
Russel Wilson had no talent
Colin Kapaernick had some but not enough to be a first rounder

Akili Smith had loads of talent
Ryan Leaf had loads of talent
Al Davis thought that Jamarcus Russell had loads of talent

etc etc etc

We'll have to wait a few years to see how much talent is in this year's QB crop...

Not sure what to make of McCoy as a head coach. He started as offensive coordinator under Josh McDaniels with McDaniels pretty much running the offense. Last season he modified the offense to best use Tebow's talents and it was still abysmal. This season the Bronco's offense basically became Manning's offense. I guess he's adaptable if nothing else.

But whose the right team? I've seen him play and he has a world of physical talent but looked lost playing the position a good portion of the time.

Kansas City would have been interesting.

Unfortunately, the conversation is moot because he just announced he's returning for his senior season.

It's good that Thomas is returning to school.

KC? I think Reid would destroy him before he fully developed calling pass plays sixty times a game.

Andy Reid has gotten addicted to throwing the ball. If he doesn't reign that in, he'll be a massive failure in KC.

Kolb.
Feeley.
Detmer 1.
Detmer 2.

Well, okay, Detmer 1 had some success in other places.

Probably says more about his ability to sell them as good QB's than his actual ability to develop them. We'll see how he does with Cassel and Quinn.

Haha! That's pretty much what I've been thinking. If the Chargers go 0-4 to start the season next year, I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of signs at the game with quotes just like that.

Not sure what else you're looking for. All of those guys played much better in their short stints with Philly than they did anywhere else in their careers (again, with the possible occasional exception of Ty Detmer).

None of them were anything special at all in their careers, with or without the Eagles. Being average is not "developing a QB".
