The Manningham plays remind me a ton of Santonio. Fuck up a makeable play, and then proceed to make a subsequent play that is an all time highlight.

Didn't Thurman Thomas get a free touchdown vs the Cowboys? I can't remember.

What was he doing? He started to take a knee then acted like he wasn't sure if he should.

Well, he essentially hedged here- tried to let the defense stop them but since it didn't work, he let them walk in

In defense of Bradshaw you try running full speed then stopping on a dime

Mike Holmgren did it with the game tied in Superbowl 32. Most coaches don't do it because it's unconventional and they're afraid of losing their job. Bellichick should be different.

At the 1 yard line it'd be like an XP. I'd rather kick that with 3 seconds left than give the ball back to Brady. XPs are made at almost a 100% rate.

Isn't it an all-but-automatic FG from there?

So why not put out 20 guys on purpose, force NE to run the play, get the 5 yard penalty but cause the clock to run down further?

I'd rather do the given thing(the TD) and force the other team to make the plays required in order to make a TD.

I thought the same but I'm sure the referees wouldn't allow that and would not let the play begin.

wow what a nice finish to a really good game overall. Not a lot of fireworks, but I love seeing Eli just do it every time he gets the chance. Clutch in the 4th quarter.

It's kindof an interesting take on the strategy, a lot like fouling in basketball when up by 3

Close game, weird scoring that ends up in a totally normal looking 21-17 score, but not really all that great of a game in my opinion.
