This damned tourny is lining up for a Duke win.

And I hate that.

I like Purdue. Those 2 monsters they have down low are a really tough matchup and as nice a story as Saint Peters is they are gonna get slaughtered. Top 2 seeds in that region gone. The way is paved nicely for them.

Arizona has a shot also but they are inexperienced all around.

My hats off to Arkansas, didn't think they had much of a chance to beat Gonzaga

Gonzaga to the Big East isn't tenable, but they surely need more tests through the conference season. I can't imagine having a team that good year after year and having to wait months to gear your team for games that actually matter.

Looks like AZ is struggling also against Houston. It'll shake things up to have 2 no. 1 seeds lose.

Prior to the tournament, I thought Arizona looked rock-solid every glance I had.

I was obviously very wrong, or they fell off a cliff.

I have been a UH Cougars fan for 40 years and this is the usual reaction teams have had to the Coogs to our benefit the last couple of years. Teams underestimate them and they get the underdog bounce. It most recently reminds me of the Boise State football teams aroun$ 2005-2010 that were underdogs and the big power conferences underestimated them. I expect Nova or the winner of the Duke-Hogs game to knock them off. But, with a top 10 recruiting class next season they are looking like being set up as a contender for a few more years.

Who's House? Calvin Sampson is one hell of a coach. Woodson looks to be a good coach for Indiana but I'm sure IU fans can't help but look at Sampson's success and wonder what could have been. Getting a ban for impermissible phone calls looks quaint and ridiculous with all that is publicly known now.

Funny, I had AZ as the first 1 seed to go out. Maybe it was the small sample size of seeing them which happened to include both losses. But I just didn't think much of them for whatever reason.

Current odds are Duke by 4 but wouldn't count out the Razorbacks. It will be bittersweet if the Hogs are Krzyzewski's last game. The Duke-UNC rivalry was great.

Quote:
Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils aim to reach the Final Four when they return to 2022 NCAA Tournament action on Saturday evening in the Elite Eight. Duke, the No. 2 seed in the West Region, upended the No. 3 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Sweet 16. Two days later, Duke faces the No. 4 seed Arkansas Razorbacks, and Duke is 31-6 this season. Arkansas upset the No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thursday, and the Razorbacks are 28-8 overall.

Tipoff is at 8:49 p.m. ET in San Francisco. Caesars Sportsbook lists the Blue Devils as four-point favorites, while the over-under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 147 in the latest Duke vs. Arkansas odds. Duke shot lights out down the stretch and that's how they put away Tech. But I wouldn't be shocked going forward to have a controversial call or five in any late game situation against Duke with "company men" working the floor

For as great as this tournament has been, it's pretty likely that the Final Four will include

Duke
NC/UCLA
Kansas

Nova could be the Cinderella with their paltry 3 national championships.

If St. Peter's had happened in my FBCB as a 15-seed, I'd be complaining that the AI is broken. But this was bound to happen sometime, what an execution performance by these players and how well coached up they were for this moment is astounding.

The crazy thing is that they are much less talented than the other 15 seeds that made the Sweet 16.

It was a great place to live in the early 00's if you worked in Manhattan. Kind of a bonus NYC borough. I lived near a Path Station and my commute to my midtown Manhattan job was maybe 30 minutes door to door. And it was much cheaper and nicer than the comparable places I could afford in Brooklyn or Queens, with half the commute.

Congratulations to my alma mater Northwest Missouri State with a 67-58 win over Augusta (GA) to win the D-II Men's Basketball Championship. It's the first 3-peat in D-II history and their 4th title in 5 seasons.

Way to go, Bearcats!

LOL. It's not somewhere you go unless you're from there, because unlike Newark it's not a hub for anything unless you need to take the PATH for some reason to be in the city. I hadn't been there until I was well into adulthood, because weirdly they don't have a NJ Jersey transit terminal through there. I didn't realize how big it was, but like Hoboken it's grown a lot and basically a 6th borough of people who need to be in the city.

Dramatically worse. George Mason was an at-large. Butler flipped their Final Four appearances from the MVC to the A10 to the Big East. Don't see St. Peter's getting a promotion to the AEC or anything out of this run, though the tournament shares will be nice and I bet the MAAC is pumped to getting this windfall.

Would be wild to see Holloway flip this into a NBA job instead of Seton Hall, but seems fortold he'll take the deal that's on the table. What a story, though.

D2 programs are wild. Only one paid assistant and he's a former player, two volunteer student assistants and a GA. Also only 10 scholarships for 12 players, obviously you split the money up but...I see why so many schools opt to move to D1. I didn't realize how constrained they are financially, even if they're successful.
