(in the room to the left of my starting room are dozens of 'crawling claws' or so. I killed four of them for 600xp, but there are dozens left).

I live my friends and I level up. I killed a Dvergr warrior, gaining 750 EXP. In addition, I have found the following:

You find a battle axe, magical, and take it
You find chain mail

I will gladly trade any of these items. I am leaving and won't be back until 10 pm CST likely but if you can use these, let me know as I can work a deal.

Let me also say, that any of you here who are Dvergrs, my apologies and I hope he wasn't family. When I plunged my blade into his heart and twisted it a few times, it briefly flashed in my mind that I could be killing one of your friends or family, so I made it quick and painless as I could.

Well I entered a room and found my first real action of the game. A flying grey sphere with whips called a Whipsting was laying in wait on me. He hit me, I missed, then hit him. At this point he appeared to crit me which made me go berserk and one shot him. I'm fine, still have over half my exp.

However, I took his two whip like tentacles. It appeared to me they can be used as a whip, and I'm thinking they may have other properties to them as well, but I cannot be sure. Any ideas?

No, but I'm not sure Abe is being picky about the direction. I told him I wanted to moving along the outside ring of the dungeon so I could find another entry point and he moved me that way. So I'm guessing (unless he tells me differently after reading this) that I can ask him to move me the same direction you went.
