Event 7 Discus Second Attempt
Schaplowsky Mike takes his second turn, hoping to improve on his solid start. He spins, tosses, his toe hits the board hard and he falls over. He grabs his ankle he gets up and limps off, but it looks like hes got a sprain not sure how severe or how much its going to hinder him moving forward, but thats unfortunate, as we are right in the middle of his run of strong events. Babson during his throw, the release is early and the discus lands just outside of the field boundry. Llyw really ups the effort level for this one, but increased effort leads to off balance release which leads to stepping over the toe board and fouling. Path This second attempt for Path is much more explosive, creating a stronger angle this is going to be a huge improvement over his first attempt. The discus lands and the distance is measured at 182 feet. This is much better than the first toss, but hes got better results on his resume. I still count 11 results better in the average column and 13 in the allout. Ginsberg Passes Bafou Passes Palmiero really goes after his second attempt but he comes out of his crouch a little early, lifts to much on the throw and ends up about 10 short of his previous effort. 174 is the result. Nielsen Nielsen, still looking to get on the board he sends his second discus down the field, this one is carrying well its going to be a good throw. It bounces and the spot is marked. It measures in at 192. Only 3 results better in ave and half are better in allout (but many of those are low probability rolls). Ketola as he takes his second turn, he spins, tosses, hits the toe board, and grabs his side. Not sure what happened there, but he appears to be in some pain and to add insult to injury quite literally, he now heads into his final throw without a score on record. Honcho Unleashes his second throw this is going to be a huge improvement its got a chance to get over 200 feet. Well have to wait on the official measurement and it is over 200 its 201 to be exact. Six throws better (including two 210s and one 212) in ave, and 13 better in allout. Mighty Just barely brushes the toe board, but the white flag was raised, so no result in round 2. Chilton Form is sloppy again Im not sure this throw is going to be an improvement over his last attempt. The measurement is posted and it is an improvement, this toss was 143 feet. The improvement is so slight from the first attempt that the explanation on where you stand is almost exactly the same. Rambis His second attempt is good, but not an improvement 174 Jordan Second attempt comes up just a few feet short of his first 159 Peltonen - again, Peltonens form looks off in fact, the toss is very similar to the previous one all the way around, form, release, distance this one actually measures in a little shorter at 150 feet . OK, so this is the worst possible outcome in the column |

Well crap, Schaplowsky was going to go all-out on his next throw, but seeing as how he now has an injury, and he is sitting pretty well in this event already, he'll just take the safe route and pass on his 3rd throw

Event 7 Discus Final Attempt
Schaplowsky Is still nursing his injury and has elected to pass in order to receive some additional treatment prior to the Pole Vault Babson Takes his 3rd attempt, and steps on the toe board for his second straight foul. Hell finish up with his first 190 result Llyw Almost an instant replay of his previous attempt touches the toe board and fouls Path The third attempt for Path, hes looking for another improvement and really going after the toss, but as is often the case, the extra effort created a flaw in form and resulted in a foul. Ginsberg not surprisingly Ginsberg passes again Bafou also passes again Palmiero a third straight pass Nielsen Following his strong second attempt, Nielsen elects to rest rather than try for a better result, so 4 in a row Ketola the focus on getting something legal on this attempt is obvious, and the mechanical almost robotic form illustrates his desire to insure hed not leave this event without some points. All in all his final toss of 174 feet is pretty good considering the injury and his focus on scoring. In fact with a little more effort he probably could have topped 190 even with that approach to the toss. Honcho His third attempt is a good one, but it isnt close to his big throw in the second round. Actually it measures the exact same 187 mark he posted with his first attempt. Mighty Form was really textbook on this attempt, unfortunately he only managed to toss the discus about 139 feet so that isnt going to help. I have a feeling had he gone all out and really upped his effort while maintaining that form he might have challenged his personal best Chilton sloppy form finally resulted in a foul Rambis Oh, a good toss from Rambis on his last attempt not sure if it is going to be better than his 181 toss in the first round itll be close ohhhh this one is 180 so no improvement but a great effort Jordan Nice throw of 171 on his 3rd throw. Peltonen - after two pretty pitiful throws Peltonen unleashes a good on this one lands out around 175 thats a huge improvement over his 150 efforts previously. The official distance is 175 Peltonen steps up big when he needed to. |

I was just hoping not to lose more ground. Disappointing to foul twice on all-out attempts. I haven't had much luck this time around.

Event 7 – Discus – Recap
Winners Bafou – one of the top results on the card and 2 rounds of rest Nielsen – only two results better on the whole card Peltonen – Way above his average for the event Losers Ketola – Injury will likely hinder any shot of getting into the medals Schaplowsky – Injury comes right in the middle of strong events, will likely keep him on the bottom third of the leaderboard Last edited by Breeze : 08-27-2015 at 01:08 PM. |

Standings Overview - After 7 Events
Babson's 3rd place finish in the Discus allowed him to significantly open his overall lead. He's now up by almost 150 points. However, the most significant impact from the last event didn't even change the leaderboard at all - Ketola who was 4th coming into the discus and remains 4th after the event, his injury will most likely prevent him from medalling. It isn't impossible, but the final 3 events aren't his best and the injury will only magnify that fact. Nielsen's nice throw moved him back into a medal position, but there are still several other contenders, with Chilton, Palmiero, Path, and Jordan all still hanging tough. With Schaplowsky and Rambis both hurt, it won't suprise me if Llyw, Ginsberg and Bafou don't make a run at them before this is all said and done. Last edited by Breeze : 08-27-2015 at 03:02 PM. |

Event 8 - Pole Vault - Game Mechanics
The mechanics of this event are similar to the high jump. You jump until you get 3 straight misses (regardless of height) or you elect to stop. You get 7 jumps without any fatigue penalities. If you passed at all in the discus, you may use that turn in the pole vault without penalty. If you were one of the one that rolled over your rest from the first day you may use those extra attempts here without penalty as well. However, unlike high jump where you enter at a height and the bar increase by 1" each time...here it will start at 12' 1" and increase by 4" each time... |
