I have been doing tests with the new signing Jeeber D, but dont' worry guys, there will be playing time for everybody, the most skilled players proably will play more in the important games while the backups will play more in easy or too hard games, else we won't be competitive if we have everybody playing the same time no matter how skilled he is.

Im just ribbing guys....
Im not nearly as in tto this as everyone else is. Im perfectly fine rocking the chumps and resting against the champs.... But I plan on becoming a Defensive GOOOOD.... so if you need a 100+ shot blocker you'll know where to look |

Today tactics:
I have set them so everybody will get playing time for at least 1Q. The team we face is good at SG and SF but we are better at PG, C and Pf so those players will get more passes sent to. Starters play intensity: HARD Backups play intensity: HARD Shooting Parameters: Each one set the % to his best player abilities but following this more or less: C and PF: 75 inside, 20 floor, 5 three SF: 20 inside, 60 floor, 20 three SG and PG: 5 inside, 60 floor, 35 three If any of you is really good at three (over 40), raise that value. Play Style: C: Normal PF: Normal SF: Normal SG: Special team player PG: Special team player Play Time: Short for everybody to create more chances and to move the ball fast. Passing Preferences: Our best best scorers (PG, PF, C) will receive most of the load. For the PG's set it to: C=35% PF=35% SF=15% SG=15% For the SG's set it to: C=25% PF=25% SF=10% PG=40% For the SF's set it to: C=25% PF=25% SG=10% PG=40% For the PF's set it to: C=30% SF=15% SG=15% PG=40% For the C's set it to: PF=35% SF=10% SG=10% PG=45%

Btw, i see Rocket Heat is not in the team anymore, i don't know why, he is just not listed anymore in the team lineups and a search result for him shows no results, i guess duckman retired his player.

Have you guys caught all the uproar in the forums? Talad is going to be making economic changes: big cuts in betting and relying much more on salary from teams to provide player income. They said it would go in about 2 weeks from now.
It sounds very HT'ish. Stadium size, soft cap for fans at a given level, ticket pricing, changing attendance with wins & losses. At any rate, I've become concerned for my cash. Was going to buy my first maxed accessory, but now I'm saving all the $$ just in case this goes haywire. I'm concerned about my ability on a computer team to bet & still get max trainings once this goes through. |

Yikes, thanks for pointing that out.. I've been keeping up with training over the holidays, but not the forums or betting.. that means it's time to be diligent about betting over the next two weeks..
FWIW, I think the betting system is WAY too easy to exploit so this is probably a good thing.

Hell of a game today, pushed a top 10 team well into the 4th quarter and will probably have them a bit more concerned about our group next time we play.

Another heads up..I saw it before, but the longer I play, the more impact I see it having. The training of +6 in 3 days for the 20-40 range is, from my understanding, going away next year. It was a 1 season only option to make up for the training changes this season. Since realizing the time value I've since changed my training schedule (again) to take advantage of the efficiency before it goes away.

Yup, we almost pulled the upset, too bad i fouled out to early in the game so i couldn't help. Also the stupid AI put Wade Moore, our PG to replace me as PF in the 4th Q :/ I wonder when are they going to fix that bug and to put the backups into play when the starter is injured, instead of a PG. Next year we are going to be title contenders for sure.

Ukraine - Division 6 x5.1 Zakarpattja Wheels (H 19.24) vs Poltava Goshawks (C 16.62) x1.3 About today game, we face the 5th team, impossible for us to win, so another game for the backups to enjoy

Anybody want to bet that a few of these teams get a little nervous seeing how hard we're playing them already?
Icy, just as a heads up, training wise I'm trying to take as much advantage as possible of the current training before really specializing. Once the next season starts and I'm into the +10 trainings I'll be doing those and using the CP boost to really try and jump a few key stats on both sides of the ball. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to make sure to include.

I'm doing the same Tavis, just putting all my skills over 40 with the 6 in 3 days training. Next year could be out year.

Barring some serious roster restructuring by our upcoming opponents, I don't see much reason why we shouldn't win our next 6 league games (was as far ahead as I went on the calendar). A couple of good tests mixed in with some serious fodder, but could be a good time to put the .500 mark well in our rear view.

Two things I found on their forums that I thought were provoking. One deals with shooting, the other skills in general & the creator's intent/style for the skills.
Originally Posted by Omnem View Post As you may or may not know, every type of shooting involves several skills depending on your player position and shooting type, three to be exact (that type of shooting + 2 other skills ) + jumping, stamina and confidence. (this part was the retort to the above statement by Omnem) Sorry for being noob here, but I checked the skills guide and am still not clear here. So I thought jumping is one of those "2 other skills", but from what you said it is not? So Jumping, Stamina and Confidence affects all types of shooting. 2 other skills affect each type of shooting? So is it like this: Floor shooting = floor + dribbling + ??? 3 point shooting = 3 point + dribbling + ??? Inside shooting = inside + strength + ??? And the 2nd: This was posted by Talad While I understand what you are trying to get at here, you have to also understand we would like you to figure out what skills are needed to do what. Kind of figure out for yourself how to succeed. I will try to help though a bit and hopefully not give away to much information that takes the fun out of being the first one to figure out how to beat your opponents. Floor Shooting: This the shot taken from inside the 3 point line and around the box. Basically all your low to mid-range jump shots come from here. From 4ft out to the 3 pt land Inside Shooting: this is the shot taken from inside the paint, basically from the free throw line to the basket. 3 PT Shooting: All shots from beyond the arc, this also effects some of the longer range shots. Top of the key and beyond if you will. Dribbling: Effects how well you control the ball and keep it in your possession without the opponents stealing it. Passing: Your ability to connect with an assist, also to keep the team from stealing your pass or detect and intercept a pass allowing you to steal. Stealing: Simple, the greater this skill is the more likely you are to steal the ball, whether off the dribble or pass. Rebounding: Pretty self-explanatory I think, you need strength and jumping to aid in this skill, speed helps too and allows you to get to the basket before the other big men. Blocking: Your attempt to block the shot, height, jumping, strength speed all play a part in this. Strength: Your ability to man-handle (for a lack of a better word at this moment) your opponent. Weight factors in here as well. Speed: The ability to either do a fast break, beat your opponent to the basket for rebounds. Jumping: Goes hand in hand with height. It is the means to get over your opponent for either scoring or helping to block that shot. Confidence: Effects all aspects of the game, Whether you take the shot, attempt to block, steal, make that critical pass. Everything that you do revolves around this skill. Stamina: Effects your ability to stay on the court longer, and is drained by doing any number of things. The more you do or attempt to the more stamina you drain. Now you take all these skills and decide how you want your guy to play, offensive you will do what you can to raise those skills associated with it. Jumping, Strength (help shoot the ball farther) Shooting skills and maybe speed and dribbling. To be defensive then you should decide what style of defender you want to be. Want to steal the ball? block that shot? Or just grab every single shot missed and help turn it into a fast break chance (need fast players for this) I am not sure how many more skills you think you need to play basketball. Everything you can think of uses one or more of those 13 attributes in our opinion. I hope this sheds some more light on this and at least helps you understand that you can not munchkin your player and get great success. You really need a lot of different skills to succeed here. The script will also be looked at, we think we found a problem and will make that change first to see how it goes. |

From what I've read, it's a great idea to max out all your physical skills as they all get used in multiple situations while the more specific stuff (each type of shooting, passing, etc) usually only gets used in those situations (though likely weighted more heavily). That said, excellent post to bring all the above information together for everybody.

Good insight DMB, thanks for posting that. I can make one other minor observation regarding skills. I've been upping speed and jumping a good bit lately, and I've noticed that I get fouled a lot more now than I used to. As an example, just in this last game, I had 15 free throws and the guy I was up against fouled out in 10 mins.

Wow, Jeeber was 1 point away from giving us 10 double digit scorers today. I know it's not a team that should give us any trouble, but very nice job of spreading the ball around and getting everybody involved Icy.

From the admin:
"Below is the new training changes for season 5. These are set at middle value * 100 * number of days. This should give team owners a set definition of what to set minimum salaries at for season 5. 5/17 +5 3 days $5100 (the only one set as everyone starts out at 17 value) 22/40 +6 4 days $12400 46/70 +8 7 days $40600 78/102 +6 8 days $72000 108/140 +4 8 days $99200 Gone will be the multiple skill trainers (if I need new names I will post for them as soon as I need them), the +6/3 days (20/40), The other trainers (the ones added this season) will remain in place at this time, although their prices might change too after I am done adding the new trainers." |

I have updated the website and now it shows all the player ratings:
http://www.managersims.com/cyberdunk/index.php Btw, i know some of you (Travis?) have purchased custom clothes, PM me the details and i'll add that custom clothes to the database so you can update your player. So please, update your player with all the new changes, i see that only 3 or 4 of us are doing it, and i make lineups based on that, so if you want to play, you better update it. Btw, i have 10 days from now to renew the team for the next season at $10, Im going to do it if you guys want to keep with this. I seriously think we have good chances for next year, but let me know what do you think.

Another (expected) dominating performance today. Tomorrow looks like a team half a step behind us, but the type of team we might be seeing season after season (assuming both owners keep on going), so always good to let them know where they stand early
Any specific tactics you want used Icy?

What's a good amount of cash to have going iinto next season with the new monetary/training structure? I have the bucks to upgrade my shoes to the top tier but if I do I will have "only" $700k or so left. Not too sure that's enough of a warchest with the uncertainty of the new season. Anyone have thoughts?
