Coffee it has been reported that some of the constituency of Glasgow have begun to pray to someone called Yahweh. They claim that there is only one God and that to pray to Idols, as our own Hindu constituency do, is a sacrilege. Because we are all Scot's at heart, we should be able to get along with eachother but it will be interesting to see what happens between the two:

as For the research...I vote for the Priesthood. It is always a good idea to get a free tech. I hope soon we get writing which Iimagine will lead eventually to the ability to get a great Library so we can keep up with the Joneses easier.

to get that free Tech, youre also banking on us completing the Oracle first. If we had some marble that would help immensely on that project.

Animal Husbandry revealed the horses but we just keep falling off them now.

CW the Archers from a barbarian horde have arrived on the outskirts of Edinburgh's gold mines. We have warriors in place but I wanted to know your directions. ly attacking them while they are hiding in the woods would be a monumental mistake, but any specific orders, sir? (ignore the promos at the bottom, they are for the warrior in Glasgow, which you need to hand him that promo sir)

The closest warrior obviously stays put. Judging from where they are at, let's slide the other warrior (the nw one) down to the se mine and have him dig in alongside his comrade.

If the archer decides to take a jab at the freshly undefended mine (by moving into the desert tile instead of directly onto the mine), move 1 back, obviously.

CW:

The archers did attack the warriors guarding the eastern mine. Our Wilderness Legion I were killed in battle while the other warrior regiment defeated an Archer contingent. Both sides now lick their wounds. One group of archers in the forest and our Warriors surrounding the mine on the hill. A quick sojourn out to catch a glimpse of the archers shows that they are quite damaged. Our Warrior stands at ~ 1.5hp while the archers in the woods stand at ~ .8hp.

Mrsimperless, the settler group has been put together sir. What now should we work on in Edinburgh?

Ostenaco seems to now have adopted the ideas of Slavery for his people.

EDU simply means that the unit, while same in name and attributes will look like unique unit to a civilization.

I think we need more military units. We are one wave of barbarians away from destruction, In my opinion.

CW has offered one of the Warriors in Glasgow as an escort, he can meet you in the eastern forest/hills before stepping out to that final destination, if you concur?

As you go to the East of Glasgow, if you see a circle pop up that looks good, post a pick please so I can evaluate. I think 5 spots to the E should be good, but just in case there is a better spot, I'd like to have the option to settle there.

Our warrior from Glasgow is near their meeting with the settler but Im afraid that has become quite a backburner issue as Edinburgh not only has to deal with the weakened Archer who is roaming the eastern mines but a barbarian warrior, seizing the opportunity, has popped its head out amongst the eastern forests, as well.

Oh dear, what shall we do? The Edinburgh trainers need one more day to graduate an archer, although there is one warrior in Edinburgh itself. I fear the future, sir.

Hookay, the warrior in Edinburgh is going to have to stay put. We've no choice but to sacrifice the mines until our archer can pay a visit.

Send that archer to attack immediately once he's ready. We've a barracks there, right? Boost his strength if we get an auto-promotion out of that.

edit: By the by, try and avoid attacking across the river if possible. If it means being on the defensive, so be it. I seem to remember some nasty disadvantages to doing that.

Archers also get a bonus for being on the defensive, not to mention the bonus for having the higher ground should we attack. Sometimes these idiot barbarians will skip pillaging if one of our regiments is nearby. might I suggest getting nearby, fortifying and trying to bait an attack?

oh shit...CW, you will earn a medal if you save our people. All we can do, IMO is use the river and forest as cover, defend and try to pump out archers. do you concur? (we may be starting anew, very quickly - i think with a smaller world = less barbarians, faster contact with other civs, but who knows...maybe CW is a blessed General.)

FYI - Edinburgh is in full military production mode. Just produce whatever military units you and CW see fit until the barbarian threat is gone.

Yes. DEFENSE & baiting. I do remember they tend not to pillage if we have troops close, so definately use that. Keep that archer where he is, fortify him. If we have to lose every improvement east of the river, so be it.

Id say thats a given, but ill move us easterly and post a pic when we get some circled options for your city. In the meantime we will mightily defend Edinburgh and pump out archers to stem the tide of barbarians.

This is an overhead pic of the settler's progress. There werent many suggested spots according to our maps, except one more to the East of Edinburgh as opposed to how North we are, near the River Flasch. What do you suggest:

the baiting tactic didnt work. It was surreal, really, our second archer took to the woods as well, and the barbarians slipped by and never attacked. When we lost the advantage of the river I felt it best to bring the troops into the city, more familiar ground to defend. We have lost almost all progress East of the river and we await attack within Edinburgh.

Before I move us forward (possibly to destruction) I await Gi's direction regarding the settler.
