The Titans have surprised me this year. I thought they would struggle on defense with the loss of Pacman, but if anything, they seem to be playing better Team D. And Chris Brown has done a great job complimenting LenDale White and taking Travis Henry's spot, keeping VY from having to do everything himself.

Saints offensive line is horrible. Brees has been pressured on every single throw tonight it seems like, and Haynesworth has been through the line on most of the runs as well. Brees and Bush aren't playing well, but they have very little to work with.

unless you're elway or marino, you're going to suck at QB when you only have 34 yards rushing as a team. brees is better than this.

that said, the saints were never really that good last year and this is something everyone "should have" seen coming. I didn't think they'd struggle this much, but I also didn't think they deserved the super bowl considerations they were getting in the preseason.

bush is not a bad player, but he can't get plugged in like an every-down back and run normal plays. here's hoping he doesn't become relegated to dave meggett or eric metcalf (two of my all-time favorites) usage. I still think he could be a brian westbrook-type.

So, I had about an 80-point lead in my fantasy league going into tonight. He had Vince Young going, I had Drew Brees. I'm not entirely sure I'm safe.

That said, the Saints look like they've given up. That interception return - yes, it was a given that it was a touchdown runback, but nobody even tried running it out. That's just ugly.

Um, the Saints were almost in the Super Bowl last year? If that NFC Championship game had been anywhere but in snowy Chicago, they probably would have lost to the Colts in the Super Bowl last year.

I don't know how you can call that "not that good" or think that such a team should not get super bowl considerations before a season.

Now if you want to say the Saints D and perhaps their OL was "never that talented" last year and that the chemistry that held them together would be exposed this year showing that; well then that I will buy.

Packers only had 42 yards rushing yesterday. Those 8 yards really must have made the difference.

Just giving you crap, I agree about rushing the ball. The Packers are just weird this year, not that I mind yet.

By the way, I'm not a Texans fan. But I am a Houston football fan. I was ready to become a huge Texans fan and probably a season ticket holder if they took Young. My bias can be chalked up to being a Longhorn fan, though. But it wasn't just Longhorn fans. This morning one of the Houston sports radio shows had a "When will we get over not picking Vince?" segment.

Houston football fans had been following Vince Young for 7 full years by the time the draft rolled around. He was and is a local legend for his high school exploits. He took an inner-city school to the state semifinals. That doesn't happen anymore. They lost 48-42 as he racked up 464 (382 passing) yards of total offense against one of the state's best programs.

Then of course his Texas years.

There exists a large number of Houston residents that give two shits about the University of Texas but wanted to be able to cheer for Vince in their hometown.

As for having Schaub and Williams, that's good for the Texans. Schaub has looked like the real deal for the most part so far. But what the people that wanted Vince are thinking is that they could have had Vince and saved the draft picks from the Schaub trade.

It's looking like it will work out for both teams from a football perspective. But the Texans are still behind where they could have been from a fan's perspective.

Watched the Titans-Saints replay last night. Really impressed with what I saw from Vince Young. First time I'd seen him play this year, and he looked pretty composed. His interception wasn't a great one, but he made some real nice passes and definately looks more like a QB than a RB.

As for the Saints, well, Brees finished with a horrible line, but like others have said, his OLine gave him absolutely nothing. How many times, Outside of a stretch of the 3rd Q, did he actually get to spot a target and throw a pass without 3 defensive linemen draped all over him? Brees not being able to get his passing game going is rendering the rest of their offense, including Bush, useless, and unless his OLine can give him something, it's going to be a long(er) season.

With Deuce out for the season, it will be interesting to see how the Saints handle the RB position. Do they now try to make Bush the guy who carries the ball 20-25 times a game? Do they split the carries evenly between Stecker and Bush? How about giving Stecker all of Deuce's carries?

A third guy could enter into the equation too. Pierre Thomas looked very very good for a rookie RB in pre-season. To be a UDFA that beats out a fourth round RB(that we traded up for and treated like a third round pick) for a roster spot shows how good he looked. It will be interesting to see if the Saints use him as a second option to Bush above Stecker and choose to keep Stecker as more of a specialist.

The concept that Reggie Bush won't be the every down back is insane.

It's nice to have both reggie and Duece in your backfield but if you don't think Reggie can be an every down back then why take him with the second pick?

Because a guy who gets 15 handoffs, is sent out on pass patterns into the flats 10 times, and splits out as a WR 8 times a game could win just as many games for you by himself as the grind-it-out, every-down back. The same reason why RBBCs work. What matters is winning games, not maintaining traditionally accepted roles.

Because the Saints now realize he isn't as good as they thought he was. We'll be seeing a lot of Stecker the rest of the season.
