Each manager has a couple WTF moments (LaRussa in game 5 and Washington tonight), but I don't think it's been that terrible. We're heading into the middle of the 56th inning - outside of 2-3 max each - it's been OK.

If the Cards win this game, the Rangers are dead team walking in game 7.
And.. GONE!

I dunno about that, but if I'm Nolan Ryan I'm absolutely seething at how badly my manager biffs tonight's game. I mean, damn. His guys just kept bailing him out and bonehead call after bonehead call. Ugh. Nonetheless, hell of a game for both teams. Loved the back and forth. Felt like cricket.

Simmons called it:
sportsguy33 Bill Simmons I love Ron Washington but I've waived Mark Lowe from my AL Keeper team 3 times over the years. This will not end well.

Rangers wins game 7 in a laugher.
I figure that's about the least likely outcome, so it'll fit perfectly.

Lessons learned from my 5 year old.
"Be tough, daddy, we have game 7 to beat them." I couldn't tell him that for 35 years, I watched every team around grind us into the earth, and a part of me knew this was going to happen. "We'll watch it together, tomorrow daddy" No son, since it sprinkled last night, they cancelled the game, so game 7 is on a Friday night, which I will be in Houston watching your uncles state championship football game, and if they win, I will not see it. "I think I am going to sleep now, daddy" Me too.

Unreal. That seriously needed to be the game 7. I have a feeling that one is going to be a blowout after that emotional rollercoaster.
Looking in from he outside I it is great, must be torture for fans of the teams though. |

Well I just got back to my hotel room after going out to have a drink or two. I spent all day trying to find some Ranger's gear, only to be laughed out of every store. I didn't know I would be going to game 6 until Wednesday then it was delayed. One call to Dick's Sporting goods: Do you have any Ranger's t-shirts or hats? No, Walker just bough all of it.
So then tonight I end up at the stadium with 7 Card's fans. I'm telling them how it won't end well tonight for them. Luckily there were a couple of Ranger's fans right in front of me, so I had someone to bond with. The smack talk went back and forth all night. 1 run, answered with two, answered with 0, answered with a tie, etc, etc, etc. I ran my Iphone battery down trying to film the last pitch. It never came. At least not the one I was looking for. The ups and downs were unbelievable. I ended the night eating a little crow, but enjoyed the night immensely. We still have another night, although it was a shame we couldn't seal the deal tonight.

I wasnt watching pitch for pitch. Just looking at the box score why was Holliday pulled? Defense or that he is struggling at the plate right now or did he get hurt?

Holliday was hurt when he got thrown out leaning off of third and ran his hand straight into Beltre's foot.

I hate living in eastern time. I didn't get to see from about the 8th inning on last night
Now, for Game 7, I'm expecting St Louis to jump out on the Rangers early to the tune of 4-0 or something like that. We could get one of those "middle reliever actually shuts down the other team" moments and then I'd love to see it be the Rangers turn to rise from the dead. Hell, just replay Rays-Yankees 162 with the jerseys changing colors and Josh Hamilton playing the role of Evan Longoria and, I dunno, Yorvit Torrealba playing the role of Dan Johnson and it'd be great. Either that or can we just resurrect Jack Morris ("I'm not dead yet") to pitch for the Rangers and have a 1-0 10 inning win for the Rangers to cap off a perfect World Series? SI

well I decided to go to bed when it was 7-4 in the 7th-was falling asleep as it was and had to be up early today anyway. So given how poorly no how atrocius the Cards were playing, I figured I'd wake up this morning and get on here to congratulate the Rangers and their fans. Never crossed my mind that there would be a game 7, especially when I saw the Cards had left the bases loaded again without scoring in the eighth inning. I think I'm staying up for today's game no matter what. what an incredible ending to that game.
Feel so bad for the Rangers-the Cards simply did not deserve to win that game based on how they played through 8 innings, but that didn't matter in the end when they came back twice to keep themselves alive. There must have been some incredible tension in the ballpark those last three innings. wish I had stayed up now! And if Freese comes through again today, I think they might just put a statue of him up outside the park. Go Cards! |

Yes, the game had an exciting finish and improbable comebacks and all of that, but can we cool it on "greatest game ever" talk (speaking to the ESPN contingent, not necessarily anyone here)? To be a great game, there should be a high quality of play, too - its greatness shouldn't be totally determined on circumstances.
Did people forget what happened most of this game? It closely approximated a 10U girls fastpitch softball game - we had an infield dropped pop-up, an OF and SS collision, 2 errors by the Rangers 1B, 5 errors overall, a tying run walked in, a pick-off at 3B with the bases loaded, and the only reason the game got to extra innings was a misplayed flyball by the RF. I'm telling you, I see this game 3-4 times a weekend during the summer. It's like calling the Broncos/Dolphins game one of the best ever, ignoring the first 55 minutes of mindnumbingly poor football. Oh, and Ron Washington is an idiot. I'm glad the IBB blew up in his face, but it would have been better if Pujols scored the winning run, too. I want to like the guy - he's one of the few managers who acts like a fan in the dugout when good things happen, and I like that about him - but geez, he blew that game by leaving Lewis in. You've got like 9 or 10 other pitchers you can use for the last 4-5 innings of the game, and you leave an AL pitcher in to hit with the bases loaded in a 4-3 game in which a run has scored in nearly every half-inning. Brilliant.
