I loved that scene. First of all, the assembly of random characters from the show playing off against each other was great. But the knighting scene was awesome. My favorite was the look on Tyrion's face when he realized it was happening. Brienne is one of those characters that is secondary to the main story, yet all the characters who come into contact with her are fiercely loyal to her. Great stuff! I'll also agree with the undead in the crypt theory. They definitely talked about it too much for it not to happen. There's also the feint theory that seems likely. The night king was not shown in the brief moment in the end. What if the majority of his army went south and bypassed Winterfell altogether? If Winterfell wins, and they all seem proud of themselves, but someone mentions "where was the NIght King?" and then they cut to him stepping over a crest overlooking King's Landing with his main army. That would be awesome. I just don't think they'll resolve the whole undead story in one episode, seems way too fast considering they've built up that storyline since season 1. |

Brienne and Jaime is the best story in the whole show. I'm glad they never turned it romantic and hope it stays that way.
Jaime loves Brienne for being what he wishes he was. Someone who keeps an oath. Who is an altogether good person. Brienne loves Jaime because he gives her the respect she has craved. He doesn't treat her like a woman. He treats her as an equal and that's all she's ever wanted. |

Shouldn't the Night King be on a dragon somewhere?

Next question that I'd glossed over until being reminded of it - that really was Ghost in the episode? Then why the hell hasn't he been by Jon's side the last 2 seasons, at least when they went north of the wall?!?

I know you aren't really supposed to overthink these things too much, and it's just a TV show and you can poke holes in anything (especially when it comes to villains doing the convenient stupid thing), but the Night King has a dragon and Bran is a kid in a wheelchair who tends to hang around creepily in the open in the middle of the night. Unless Dany has her other dragons in the air 24/7 interceptor style, I feel like I could solve the Bran problem relatively quickly and move onto bigger things.

I'm guessing that we never see Howland Reed? What better time to show up when every other Stark Bannerman is around

Though Reed is only really important to verify that Jon is really Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark's kid, so he may not appear (or appear much later after Dany and Jon clash some more about it).

Arya as the Waif theory is interesting, but I don't buy it.

Unless you're saying that when you assume a person's face you get their memories too it doesn't make any sense. If it was just her killing known Stark enemies like the Frey's okay, but after her interactions with Sansa & Gendry...

Agreed. I fear that the next episode is going to be a disappointment. Yeah, it'll be a battle and all that and people we know will die. But I'm not entirely sure I'm going to enjoy 80+ minutes of fighting (cause I doubt they'll be political scheming during it ).

Nah, this is the blood episode. The gratuitous no reason for this many naked people episode (though they had a few scenes of that - the Bronn scene in Ep1 for instance) will be the next one.

You're right. The show has really done nothing to push the "Howland Reed was there and is the only living person who really knows" narrative. It's a big thing in the books, but not the show. The show is very likely just going to rely on Bran and Sam for this one.

Not a great episode here. They fall into the cliche where they build it up like everyone is going to die but then are miraculously saved as the (literal) last minute with deus ex Arya. And the rest of it had a lot of waiting. And you know when you have the dead all lined up waiting, it'd be nice if you had a dragon to light them on fire... Oh well, on to King's Landing.
But Melissandre was a boss. And damn that episode was dark on screen Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Yeah, it was a pretty bad episode. Deus ex Arya was pretty easy to call. Death count held nothing surprising either:
Edd Jamie Brienne Beris Melisandre Lyanna ( - Awesome way to go though) Jorah - Theon Did I miss anybody? Was hard to tell. And fuck Jon. I counted at least twice where zombie dragonbreath should have scorched him, but he miraculously showed no ill effects because of that stupid fucking plot armor.

So I saw Jamie and Brienne seemingly overwhelmed, but did we actually see them die? I would think they would have more ceremonial deaths, especially Jamie.
I know I have mentioned it a few times, but it was so damn dark hard to tell who is who. |

Jamie and Brienne are alive, I believe. Saved be Deus ex Arya as they were being overwhelmed.

It was never going to live up to the theories or go as in depth as I'd like, but there was absolutely zero tying in to any of the history that made the books great. I've joked for years that Martin was waiting to see how viewers received the show finale before he wrote his last books and would change a major character death or who won the throne to fuck with people, but now I'm back to 100% hoping for him to write them and provide the backstory these writers didn't even attempt to include. |
