Jesse Ertz is just putrid as a passer. It is like Vanderbilt had 25 guys playing defense with how confused he was the entire game. I suppose playing Charlotte and Central Arkansas did him no favor getting prepared for an actual defense.

Ertz is a ME guy. No matter what, i am first. Even If I have a guy open, If I can run for it, Im doing it.

He was a fish out of water. Maybe Vanderbilt had a super fast defense and no one was open but he just looked lost out there.

Travis Etienne.True freshman. Grew up in Baton Rouge a die hard LSU fan.
LSU never offered. When Tyshon Dye decided to transfer late last year Clemson needed a last minute RB addition. Burton Burns at Alabama, a former Clemson assistant, told Tony Elliott he should check him out.

The first game Etienne ever saw in Death Valley was his first game in uniform this year.
Late bloomer.
Talented kid.

Idle wondering ... I wonder what team will have the patience to teach Lamar Jackson to play WR?

Well lucky for you! Smooth runner that attacks the hole. Seems like he runs hard as well making it a nightmare situation for a defensive back in the open field.

Bryant looks very settled in as well and a top tier quarterback. Going to be tough to beat the Tigers.

Gus Johnson announcing = guaranteed last minute excitement. He's also the king of shouting even when it's an obvious throw away, but hey, I'll take it.

Btw, how did USC end up having a true FR walk on kicking? That's why you have to go sleep over at kid's houses Clay!

The true freshman kicker beat out a scholarship kicker (who later got hurt.) However, both kickers had a HORRIBLE fall camp. That was a huge pressure kick for a kid who was under 50% in fall camp.

Clemson should be number one after this week.

Petrino leaving Jackson in for garbage time stats should be a bigger story than it will be... and the fact he couldn't punch it in against the third string should be too.

While they should be proud. It also says a lot about the state of the Texas program right now that they get sympathy points for a loss even if it is USC. Hopefully, they turn it around. Things just dont feel right in college football when Texas struggles.

Lamar Jackson is great, but is Louisville the team actually good? Order the top 3 however you want, and the Clemson D line has been very impressive last two weeks, but I'll take FSU & Ohio State over Louisville by double digits.

FSU without their starting QB at Louisville? Maybe, anything can happen.

But.....FSU lost to Louisville last year by 40+.

Did you mean bama by chance? FSU has only played 1 game this year and lost the game and their starting QB.

They are top 25 good, with the reigning Heisman winner. Two legit top 25 wins out of 3.

Texas didn't play great but still hung in there. Herman is on the verge of something special there. Just need to learn to not play prevent defense with the game on the line

Bama beat FSU with Francois basically playing the whole game & Oklahoma won handily at Ohio State... I'm fine with any ordering of the top 3, but my point is that Clemson's resume isn't any more impressive than the other 2 top teams. Though maybe Purdue (and thus Louisville) is better than I'm giving them credit for... they do get a sputtering Michigan up next.

BRUTAL coaching by Ole Miss at the end there. Shea Patterson is young, and certainly hasn't had the best coaching with the turmoil at Ole Miss there, but he reminds me a lot of Chris Leak. Throws a very pretty ball, but seems like not only does he pick out which receiver he's going to throw to before the ball is snapped but he picks out the time & spot he's going to throw to regardless of what happens post snap.

Tennessee could've used some of that coaching.

But but but ... some of the locals were ready to annoint him as the full time guy after each of the last two games. By tonight even the local announcers were "I'm not sure what the thinking there was"

The wolves are circling around Knoxville.

The headline:
Vols' stunning loss to Florida is an indictment of Butch Jones

And the close:
The SEC East is wide open, folks, and the Vols nearly overcame all of that and more to grab a crucial road win. They nearly won at Florida for the first time since 2003. They nearly had us all talking again about the intangibles that Jones instills, rather than the decisions he flubs on game day.

And then came Franks to Cleveland. No excuses, no cute sayings and there will be no public mercy for Jones in the week ahead. No laugh track available, either.

Top one- One of the most iconic images in College today. Everyone knows the Tigerhawk logo. Proud and awesome.

Bottom one- A cartoon character on a helmet. But I guess that fits Minnesota. Just a cartoon of a program. That has to be the worst decision by an athletic department that always make terrible decisions. Go Goldy Gopher. LOL.

That cartoon program has more National Championships than the Hawkeyes will ever dream of.

And "iconic" very doubtful. Outside of the Hawkeye fanbase it has the prestige of North Texas helmets.

How many of those 7 national championships have you seen? None? 1960 was a long time ago.
When was the last B1G championship?
Or division championship?

I will say this, though. You have a heck of a volleyball team.

History is history whether it was yesterday or 60 years ago. The Hawkeyes have no college football national championship history while the Gophers do. Since Ive been alive the Gophers and Hawkeyes are an equal match. Mostly mid-bottom tier B1G teams with no National significance.

I'd agree that a Louisville, FSU and Ohio State win are all about equal on the resume.
But the Auburn win is the tie breaker if I wanted to argue for Clemson #1. No one else has a better 2nd win, yet. imho.

that said.....

Iowa claims the 1958 National Championship.

And Iowa isnt mid-bottom. Iowa is mid level.

Minny is mid-bottom.

You know like, Why do all the tress in Iowa lean North? Because Minnesota Sucks.

Its all in fun.

From a neutral perspective, Iowa has been much more relevant in football in my lifetime than Minnesota. That's about 35 years that I've been paying attention.

I'm saving this just for the future. I think this will be funny to pull up in a couple years.
