Anyway, to discuss: I'm thinking about Schmidty as a faction leader. Anyone else have any ideas?

very nice job, sorry blade, should have listened to you the first time. at this point, i am inclined to go back to my day 1 feelings on mcsweeney...no one has come along as saying "i think he might be in my faction", and we can get way out in front in this game if we can get another assassin tommorow, unless they get lucky tonight.

For reference:
If a person who is executed is an assassin: +3 points for the first vote cast +5 points for the lynching votes (in other words if the final votes is 8-3, the 4th vote cast is considered the lynching vote) +1 point for all other votes If a person who is executed is a Noble: -2 points for the first vote cast (-2.5 if the person was a member of your faction) -3.5 points for the lynching vote (-4 if the person was a member of your faction) -.5 points to each player of that faction who voted to execute Other: +.5 points for any person voting to Jail the opposing Noble leader +.5 points for any person voting to execute an assassin who does not receive the most votes +.5 points for any person voting to free a member of his faction from jail +1.5 point for the first person to vote to send an assassin to jail +1.5 point for the “lynching” vote to send an assassin to jail. -.5 points for the first person to vote to send a noble to jail -.5 points for the “lynching” vote to send a noble to jail After day one: Faction A -2.5 Faction B 1.5 Faction C -1.5 After day two: Faction A 2.5 Faction B 8 Faction C .5 Points awarded for Day Two: Faction A 4 Faction B 6.5 Faction C 2 More to come -- I'm breaking this up into multiple posts.

Saldana +5 (lynching vote on an assassin) George W Bush +1 Ardent Enthusiast +1 McSweeney +1 TazFTW +1 st. cronin +1 Kingfc22 +1 Desnudo +1 Total awarded: +15 (or +16.5) Total Actual Point Change: +12.5 -- Either Assassins don't accumulate points, or there are penalties elsewhere for voting for villagers. Others who voted: RPI-Fan (execute McSweeney): +/- .5 Passacaglia (execute RPI-Fan): +/- .5 Raiders Army (execute Coffee Warlord): +/- .5 Schmidty (execute RPI-Fan): +/- .5 Vince (execute Schmidty): +/- .5 I'm not exactly clear on the rules, but based upon the point totals accumulated for yesterday, and the actual point totals that resulted, I think there's got to be a -.5 point penalty for voting for a noble to be executed, even if he's not eventually executed. We have 5 non-Mr. Wednesday votes, and the point totals are at -2.5 of expected before factoring them in. If they're all votes for villagers (this is hugely significant, I think), then we're square if each vote has a -.5 penalty. So it seems that RPI-Fan, Coffee Warlord, Schmidty and McSweeney are all villagers. It also seems that Assassins are considered part of a faction in terms of points earned, to help them remain hidden.

Blade (Execute Mr. Wednesday): +.5 Vince (Execute Mr. Wednesday): +.5 Dubb (Jail McSweeney, 1st Vote): +/- .5 (assuming McSweeney is a noble, if he's a faction leader, Dubb gets + .5) George W Bush (Execute McSweeney): - .5 Coffee Warlord (Execute McSweeney): - .5 Saldana (Execute McSweeney): - .5 RPI-Fan (Execute McSweeney): -.5 Schmidty (Jail Dubb, 1st Vote): +1.5, +.5 or -.5 (if Dubb was an Assassin, Faction Leader or Plain Noble, respectively) Kingfc22 (Jail Dubb): +.5, 0 (If Dubb is Noble Leader, or anything else, respectively) Hoopsguy (Execute Ardent Enthusiast, 1st Vote): +/- .5 Passacaglia (Execute Blade, 1st Vote): -2 / -2.5 (if he was in Blade's faction) Ardent Enthusiast (Execute Blade): -.5 McSweeney (Execute Blade): -.5 TazFTW (Jail Blade): -.5 Mr. Wednesday (Jail Blade): -.5 -- NOTE: Unvoted Dubb here. Will discuss later. Desnudo (Jail Blade, Lynching Vote): -3.5 or -4 (whether or not Desnudo is in the same faction as Blade) st. cronin (Jail George W Bush, 1st Vote): +1.5, +.5 or -.5 (if George W Bush is an Assassin, Faction Leader or Plain Noble, respectively) With all the options, I have yet to go through this completely, but I will a little later. I've got some stuff to do now. Be back soon.

After day one:[color=red]
Faction A -2.5 Faction B 1.5 Faction C -1.5 Total: -2.5 points. With these results, let's tabulate what we know and what we don't know. Quote:
We know for sure that this is a +1 swing. Total: +1 Quote:
Ok, we're pretty sure on this one. -7.5, assuming that Desnudo and Passacaglia were not in Blade's faction. Could be -7.5, -8 or -8.5 -- I'm going to assume it's -7.5. Total: -6.5 Quote:
Based upon what I've deduced this far (I'm currently analyzing this as I type it up, so this could change), I think McSweeney is a Noble. Which means everyone here should get a penalty for voting for him. If that's the case, it's either -2.5, or -1.5 (if he's a faction leader). If he's an assassin, we get +2.5. The jury is still out here. Quote:
Dubb was Assassin = +1.5 Dubb was Faction Leader = +1 Dubb was Noble = - .5 Quote:
Ardent Enthusiast is Assassin = + .5 Ardent Enthusiast is anything else = - .5 Quote:
If GWB is Assassin = +1.5 If GWB is Faction Leader = + .5 If GWB is Noble = - .5 Well damn it, I have to leave. But I will be back later -- I think this is going to be rather telling when I finish. Since we're at -6.5 after analyzing the votes on Blade, that means we need +4 from the remaining votes. This is what hurts McSweeney -- it's pretty much impossible for us to lose any more points to votes on him, because we don't have enough points made up elsewhere to account for it. I'll continue later.

Quick word on points:
There is no penalty for voting for a villager to be executed or jailed, if they are not actually executed or jailed. Similarly, the points for voting to jail an assassin are not in effect unless that occurs. You do, however, get points for voting to jail an opposing Noble Leader, or voting to execute an Assassin, even if that person does not recieve the most votes. Sorry for the lack of clarity about that in the rules. They have now been modified. |

Initial reaction to the modification: assassins do not accrue points. Not sure off the top of my head, but it seems that this would remove Schmidty, McSweeney, RPI and Coffee Warlord from the 'definitely noble' list, since it appears that all five of the non-Mr. Wednesday votes could not have given us -.5 points if they were nobles. Actually, Vince laid it out pretty well. I have my suspicions, but they are more about who is in what faction (noble). This is based on people coming right out and defending other people without much logic behind their reasoning. I know no one will believe this, but I don't have time right now as I am cooking food for a potluck that my wife has at work tommorrow (fresh salsa, cheesy potatoes, and apple pie squares), while also making our own dinner (chicken and bacon sautee). I'm swamped, but when I'm done, I'll sit down and sort this all out.

So am I interpreting Barkeep's new statement right? It seems like Vince nailed the +12.5 change on the head. Therefore, the only other way to gain or lose points in that 2nd set is: vote to jail an opposing leader +.5 vote to execute an assassin +.5 And that's it. So, since we got 12.5 total points from voting for Mr. Wednesday, that means that RPI-Fan, CW, Schmidty, and McSweeney can't be assassins? |

Ya know...I felt comfortable with the math from day 1...now I just look and go "ugh."
But, I do second the motion of McSweeney being a noble, if my numbers add up properly. I don't reallllly have the desire to check on RPI and Schmidity right this second, but if we want to, for a moment, accept those two as nobles...who we looking at for NOT being a noble? |

You awake in the morning. As you do the headcount you are a person short. A few of the more macabre remark that this is an improvement over last night, but for post it isn't good. The missing person turns out to be Coffee Warlord. You do a search of his room. And find that one of his retinue, a rather burly man, is there looking for him as well. It seems as though he was on guard duty last night as Coffee was the WARRIOR NOBLE.
With this loss behind you, you begin yet another day of deliberations. LYNCH DEADLINE IS 10 PM Eastern Thursday I'm late because I was playing in a tournament online and ended up concentrating far more than I had anticipated because I was facing a jerk. |
