Here is the bitch of it. I have Singeltery and he had a clear TD but went to the ground so they could just run out the clock. I am probably gonna lose because of that

The flipside is that we're also Denver fans, and I am going to a conference in mid-November when the Broncos are home against the Falcons. I may go because I'll be there. My daughter is pissed, to say the least. Even though I'll be there, I still don't know whether it's worth the hassle - although I've never been to a Broncos home game.

I'll bet the price of tickets drops if Indy is out of it and the game is meaningless

I am not really a fan of going to football games. It is a long day, you can't see as well, you miss all the other games, beers are a fortune and just getting in and out is a mess.

The only place I didn't mind was Seattle because the stadium is right downtown so it was easy for me to take a bus then walk to the stadium.

The Phoenix stadium was relatively close to the airport (20 min?). Having said that, my Uber to the stadium was $40 my uber back from the stadium was $120

For me, in person football games have gotten to the point that I am pretty upset with myself for going if my team doesn't win. I don't feel that way about basketball or baseball or soccer, but the combo of the price for tickets, how much of my day they eat up time-wise, the traffic/parking situations, and how horribly behaved the majority of crowds are - I just get less and less from going in person and losses feel almost devastating. Maybe they were always this way and I just used to drink more.

(Yes, I own London in fantasy)
I don't think he does fully trust him, and I don't think Cousin completely trust himself yet. He is loosing yards by holding the ball instead of throwing and trusting is arm. I also don't think he fully trust any of his receivers. There was a good example of why last night, when he threw to the spot he thought London would be, an London went the other way. Pitts has a tendency to takes plays off and does not finish routes. London tends to misreads his option routes. Even Mooney has missed finishing routes, and it cost the team a touchdown in the last game. Until Cousins gets on the same page as his receivers it is really going to limit the offense.

Uber is painful to and from games. The good news for where the Falcons stadium is now, it is an easy to bars and restaurants to kill time. My wife and I just walked past Olympic park and picked up an Uber less than half the price they were showing closer to the stadium when we went last year.

Colts-Texans game last season was going for roughly 2/3 of face value on the second hand market until the week before the game became relevant to the playoff picture. Then it shot up to like 3 or 4x face value. Only reason I know that is because I was planning on going to the game but was waiting to make sure it didn't get flexed before I purchased. When the ticket price went through the roof I decided to stay home.

I feel the same, after just completing that trip. The cost in effort, money and comfort just doesn't seem worth it, unless you can alleviate one of those factors....and yeah, as I said above, thank God they won. If they had lost the whole thing would've felt like a very poor decision.

I have to think Nashville is one of the worst post-game Uber situations around.

I know we went through absolute hell getting one out of that stadium when we did Summerslam there, and I just saw somebody posting about a 4+ hour wait for an Uber to escape a concert in the stadium.

That place is just a helluva mess for anything best I can tell.

  • My flight left PDX at 5:50am, that was the only one that got in before gametime, so I had to waste like 5 hours on the ground.
  • I took ubers to and from the stadium and vastly underestimated the demand pricing on return.
  • The amount of Lions fans was nuts. To my eyes, walking around in the tailgate, it looked like the jerseys on fans were 3-1 Lions, and there were regular chants of Let's Go Lions and/or Jared Goff. Maybe Lions fans are the new Steeler fans? They are starving for success.
  • That hook and lateral play was awesome.
  • Because it was Latino heritage something the halftime show was a traditional mariachi band and dancers. It was awesome. Way better than the usual schlock.
  • No scoring at all in the second half, and I spent that entire time expecting the Lions to lose, like the old days.
  • I had to waste 3 more hours before returning home, and ate some horrible but expensive airport food.
  • Finally lifted off late at 8:30PM, landed back in Portland at 11:15 and got home at 12:15am.
  • I again vastly underestimated how uncomfortable the seating would be for every bit of that and my back is now a pretzel.

Lookit all those blue jerseys

I’m glad you made it and they won! Some great pics!

I took my son to his first Lions game last week. My wife got me the tickets for Father’s Day. It was a really smooth, fun experience.

I parked where I used to work. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the Stadium, but you pretty much avoid all traffic coming and going and can get right on the highway. Parking was, also, only $10.

The crowd was great and we were lucky enough to be around decent folks. No one was obnoxious or obviously drunk around us.

I am heading to the Monday night game next week to watch them play the Seahawks, who they never ever beat. At least I’ll get to meet Chris Spielman and watch the game from the Spielman family suite!

This defense is terrible.

Baltimore is going to run for 400 yards.

This feels like the type of effort that gets someone fired. Maybe not Pederson but maybe a coordinator or some position coaches or something.

Just turned on the Jags- Bills game.

Should the Pederson family be scheduling the moving trucks?

Is it okay to start asking a couple of questions about the 1/1 of the 2021 draft?

Cincy's coach has to be on the hot seat as well. If they start 0-3 with losses to the Pats and Commanders? And Washington 2-1? Just like we all expected.

And they get the Panthers next week. Those should be 3 easy wins. What if Dalton drops them to 0-4?!

QB Swap, where Dalton swaps with a different struggling team's QB each week.

How the hell does Herm Edwards still show his face after having Jayden Daniels, Johnny Wilson and Ricky Pearsall, getting fired for coaching a shitty team AND committing violations? His entire shtick was about being this sage, above board dude but he couldn't win while cheating with 3 great college players. Why did I see him on GMA this morning?

Daniels seems like he may have it. First time I’ve seen him in the NFL, but he is making good decisions and has made some really nice throws.

The Bengals had nothing to answer Daniels tonight. He hung 38 points on them, and his one bad throw - he had McLaurin in busted coverage for an easy touchdown, held on a shade long and yipped it - he immediately followed up with a good play to get the first down, then Ekeler punched it in from 24 yards out.

Are the Bengals that bad? Daniels looked pretty good last week and the week before, too. No rookie adjustment period so far. Typically, rookie quarterbacks who run a lot have a shorter adjustment period than pocket passers, but this has been an impressive debut.

Every few years, there's an impressive crop of new quarterbacks. I don't know why it seems to work this way, but 2024 seems like it might become one of those years.

What happened? Can't leave those guys alone for a second. They started out so well. Bengals D was killing Daniels. And their offense was clicking.

I agree with you guys. Daniels is the real deal. It IS good to see a rookie shine. Until his first injury comes of course. I bet Chick McGee is happy.

And Chase can kiss his new contract goodbye. No bargaining chip if the team is losing anyway.

They really should just trade him to another team for lots of young prospects and picks if he's going to whine about money every year. And he will.

The Jags are now openly talking about benching Trevor Lawrence. Idk what the answer is but if you told me a team had 90 million dollars or 37% of their cap invested in the following players on offense I would probably fire the GM:

Christian Kirk
Brandon Scheriff
Cam Robinson
Zay Jones
Evan Engram
Gabe Davis
Ezra Cleveland

Besides the guys on rookie contracts that is who the Jags are paying money to on offense to move the ball down the field and put it in the end zone.

The offensive line is abysmal. They have three #3 WRs. They have a tight end that looks like he should be great but he can’t stay on the field and has serious issues dropping passes. I’m really not sure what they are going for here.

The Bengals basically played without a d-line last night and the results were predictable. They can't rush and they can't stop the run. Double Hendrickson and the world is yours.

I assume Lawrence still has some good trade value, but his contract has him locked in. That franchise often seems like they are less than the sum of their parts.

My take is that the Chiefs are so experienced and so confident that they have a built-in advantage against everyone else who shows up with the date circled on the calendar and ends up with a) a bit of jitters, at least and b) develops during the game a sinking feeling that no matter what they do Mahomes is going to pull a winning play out of his ass. And they're not necessarily wrong (either the Chiefs or their opponents).

Or, in other words, they're the new Patriots.

I think it is the refs circle the date, another game with their dreamy boyfriend Patrick Mahomes. They wistfully think of all the ways that might help him win another game.

Fair or not, once teams give their quarterback one of those "richest QB contract in history for a day" contracts, the expectations for that QB are to turn those #3s into a 1s and 2s and compensate for the abysmal O-line. We see what the Chiefs have thrown out there for the last two seasons. I don't think there are a bunch of trade requests for the other parts of the Bills offense besides Josh Allen either. I'm not saying that Trent Baalke must keep his job by any means. What I am saying is Lawrence is supposed to be one of those QBs who can do more with less in the same ways that Allen and Mahomes have and are doing and what Justin Herbert and the other freshly minted franchise QBs are expected to do as well. That is what the money is for.

Al Michaels calling the Cowboys-Giants game tonight. The first Cowboys-Giants game he called was when Tom Landry's Cowboys beat Bill Parcell's Giants in 1986.

If the Cowboys lose to the Giants (Thursday games are weird), then it is 4 straight days of 100% media freakout, right?

What is up with this field? Why is everyone sliding all over the place?

We see what the Chiefs have thrown out there for the last two seasons. I don't think there are a bunch of trade requests for the other parts of the Bills offense besides Josh Allen either. I'm not saying that Trent Baalke must keep his job by any means. What I am saying is Lawrence is supposed to be one of those QBs who can do more with less in the same ways that Allen and Mahomes have and are doing and what Justin Herbert and the other freshly minted franchise QBs are expected to do as well. That is what the money is for.

I have to push back on this a bit. How many elite passers the past few seasons have not also had an elite pass catcher? At least to bridge the gap until they can turn those number 2's into 1's.

The Jags (and cousin Baalke) have taken nine players over the past five drafts with either day one or day two picks:

2020: WR Laviska Shenault
2021: QB Trevor Lawrence; RB Travis Etienne; T Walker Little
2022: G Luke Fortner
2023: OL Anton Harrison; TE Brenton Strange; RB Tank Bigsby
2024: WR Brian Thomas

This doesn't even account for Travon Walker first overall in 2022.

You hit on some of those picks a little better with guys that contribute and this looks like a different team.

Despite 4 total incompletions, the penalties are making this game borderline unwatchable. It's so bad that Al Michaels' snark is justified.

Whenever I watch the Giants play, I always find myself wishing that Daniel Jones was like 5% better than he actually is, and then he'd be just fine.

There were so many opportunities tonight where it felt like if the throw was just marginally better than it was, it would have been a completion or a big play instead of just an efficient play or a narrow drop.

He reminds me of Trent Dilfer in that way. He's competent most of the time, and in the right situation or the right magical season, he could do something...as long as everyone understood that he just has to stay within his limitations and not make big mistakes.

It makes me feel about as bad as I can for a guy who's going to make $200 million dollars.

He badly underthrew 2 possible TDs and it seemed like he just couldn't throw it far enough. The receivers outran his arm.
