I disagree. This is the finals, i want the players in the best possible condition. This is maybe the first time in months some of these guys got some real rest and as a team maybe got to run a few real practices. The schedule is insane enough as it is

This is what happens when the conference finals opponents suck and lose quickly to the better teams.

Yeah, my initial reaction was the same as stevew's, but I've come around. The time off has been great for both teams, and are we really in a hurry for the season to end?

When the question is "when is the last time my team won" and the answer is "40 years ago" or "never", you absolutely want to get on with playing this thing out ASAP

My team hasn't won in 40 years. The delay has allowed one of my team's most important players to get healthier. I have literally zero problem with the delay.

Eh, I'm in a hurry for it to end, but for the reason that -- no disrespect -- I think the result is about as much a foregone conclusion as an NBA Finals can be. But I don't think the time off is such a bad thing either . A reward for getting your business done allowing you to get healthy for the final clash? Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Someone should fish LeBron's sleeve out of that trash can.

That sounds like a hell of a game to have missed out on. It seems like Kyrie's injury is pretty significant; if not an ACL, it doesn't seem like his chances of returning this series are too good.
The Warriors' depth definitely won it for them. If Draymond is in foul trouble or can't handle LeBron, they have a former All-Star and team USA member to go to off the bench. |

Whew. I can't believe that Shumpert's shot almost went in at the end. I also can't believe that it missed.
What a game. |

Kyrie is probably out for the series. LeBron put up 40 and we still lost.

Am I allowed to legitimately question why LeBron would settle for that long shot at the end of regulation with all that open space, WITHOUT trying to claim that he's a fraud and deserves all the world's scorn?

With that iteration of Lebron, absolutely. The only thing I can guess is that he didn't think he would get a call when the inevitable contact happened. Well that and he was just gassed. This lost IS on Lebron, if only because the offense last night was iso-Lebron and offensive rebounds. If coach Lebron gets credit for that in the Eastern Conference semifinals and finals game plans , he has to be blamed for the game plan last night. I would like to see him go back to the guy who draws the defense to him and kicks to open teammates a bit more often.

He didn't get much help last night aside from Kyrie & Mozgov. Given the output of Cavs other than those, last night, LBJ from half court was probably a better option than most of the roster.

It could be a chicken or the egg thing. It could be argued that he had to go iso because he was not getting any help. It could also be argued that he did not get help because he was so insistent on going iso. It just felt like he wanted to prove that he could be just like... well you know...the other #23.

Welp, basically rolling out the pre-LBJ@MIA Cavs now with Kyrie out. Hard to criticize a guy who dropped 44, but I too many iso-LBJ plays down the stretch that led to him throwing it to mozgov to finish. I also have no idea why LBJ continues to do his 'two-jab-step then fire the long j' when he's about 90% on post-ups where he attacks the basket rather than fades away.
Oh well, get to cheer for Delly as a starter at least - Aussies starting for both teams is pretty special.

It's definitely the egg (or whichever of the two corresponds to Cleveland players missing a lot of good looks off of LeBron feeds). Either way, Iso-LeBron + offensive rebounds was 1 bucket away from beating the best basketball team of the past 20 years. |

If Love leaves in the offseason and Kyrie's knee prevents him from ever being "Kyrie" again, then Cleveland ended up becoming "LeBron and spare parts" more quickly than anyone could have predicted.
Or, Love could come back, Kyrie could heal, and the team could win 65 games in the East on their way to a title. |

I'm not sure if MJ could get this series to 6. That has got to be the worst starting lineup in NBA finals history.

I was gonna say this series isn't as 'over' as people think. I mean, it's very unlikely the Cavs win after the Irving injury but not a foregone conclusion that it's going to be a sweep. The lineup with LeBron, Smith, and Shumpert as the 3 guards was going to be their best chance, so the starting lineup comment still holds water since Dellavedova has looked like a D-leaguer this entire series. edit: for all the crap David Blatt has gotten, the Cavs have a pretty good defensive game plan for the series Last edited by nol : 06-07-2015 at 07:59 PM. |

Warriors getting out rebounded by 13, shooting less than 26% from beyond the arc and yet are still very much in the game late. Dellavedova also +18 compared to Curry's -5

Guess he should have taken a jumper.
Edit: pure sarcasm by the way. I like this choice much better but I'm sure the media will ask him 30 times about it.

The Cavs are asking a lot of Curry to be bad for five straight quarters.

Yeah, 2/5ths of the crunch time lineup was playing on the worst team in the league earlier this season, and Mozgov was not tearing it up for Denver either. Ron Harper was at least someone who looked like a star for a crappy team, and that's not even getting into Pippen being one of the top 20-30 players of all time. |
