Masked sent in a list for this pick. Carney topped the list so he has to go with his other pick

17.08 K Jay Feeley, NYJ

Good luck with that, particularly early in the season

Remember, two starting defenses and byes make for very few K's and D/ST's in the pool early on, particularly since there are always a couple of teams that think they can do that.

Should be, as long as we get the draft finished in time.

I thought about also drafting Jeff Reed of the Steelers, but I just know I'd bench the wrong Reed during a bye week.

Ok, draft is finished and league is set. If I made a mistake (say, I put the wrong Steve Smith on a team or something), please let the team get who they drafted.

Looks like everyone is on waivers until the 8th and games start the 10th so there should be time to make some pickups.

Great draft - a nice departure from the usual FF drafts which I can do in my sleep. I'm pretty happy with my team, which will of course change after Week 1.

I guess I like how things turned out for the Enchanted Goats:

QB: Drew Brees, Eli Manning
RB: Clinton Portis, Darren McFadden
WR: Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith, Laveranues Coles
TE: Owen Daniels, Zach Miller
D: Carolina, Seattle
K: Nick Folk, Lawrence Tynes

Bench: JeMarcus Russell, Marshawn Lynch, Fred Johnson, LeSean McCoy, Jamal Lewis

I was looking for balance going into the draft, trying to ensure, as best as possible, above average league production from every position. I think I have a shot at that. QB will be a strength if Eli Manning is anything above average. I think Russell has a chance to break out a little this year and be useful for certain matchups and bye weeks. The top 2 at WR should ensure above average production from that position, barring injury - I'll have to mix and match with the #3 WR slot and bye weeks, but I think Coles has a decent chance to be decent, which is all I need from him. RB is weaker, so I needed more depth there to throw against the wall. Obviously, the weakest 2 or so members of that group will have to be cut once the bye weeks start. But Portis can decline a little and still be solidly above average, McFadden has upside, the Lynch/Jackson duo in Buffalo has starting potential - I figure either Jackson will crap the bed for three weeks and really establish Lynch as the starter when he comes back, or he'll be awesome and take Lynch's job - and I really think LeSean McCoy will be huge this year in fantasy, especially in this format, if Westbrook goes down, which he surely will. Lewis is a longshot to stick with me past a few weeks, but he could definitely be solid in certain matchups. So getting "above average" production at RB is a little trickier, but do-able. I love the TEs - I think both could finish among the top 5 fantasy TEs. I figure D/K is a total crapshoot, but I was happy to get the above-average Panthers late, and the Seahawks, who I think will be at least average.

RB is the question mark - if I can find something there, I think I'm a contender.

Doh! Debated between starting Roy Williams or Holmes. Holmes went off, but at least Ben and H. Miller had solid games too.

Miller, after being ignored in many league drafts, is going to be flying out of the FA pools now.

DOH I just realized I get no points for DeSean Jackson's punt return for a TD today. Is there a reason we don't get points for returns? damn that sucks!

It counts for whoever started that Special Teams/D, but not for the WR slot. Sucks for you, but I can see the logic of not wanting to count a single guy's TD twice in the scoring settings.

I'm happy with my 1st round pick of Drew Brees at this point. Hopefully he plays the Lions again next week.

My team had a nice week overall, but unless Jennings and Olsen really go off and Rivers doesn't do too well tomorrow it's looking like a week 1 loss. A. Johnson and S. Jackson killed me with some really nice performances from my QB's. I pretty much have a win wrapped up in my other league at least.

I could use a nice 3 TD game for Moss from Brady and that would probably win me the game in this and the FOFC Keeper league. I'm playing against Gostkowski in both, tho.

Yeah, returners don't get their yardage so there isn't some double dipping between DST and Returners.

As for why DST gets them instead of returners, there's a couple of reasons- tho they're not really solid ones if we wanted to change (in future seasons). First, it gives some additional value to defenses- that way there's more than just turnovers, sacks, and points allowed. However, it does muddle them, too. You could have a mediocre defense with good returners or vice versa who are pretty high up despite not really being a good defense.

Also, it made it hard to balance WRs vs returners. A couple of years ago, you could easily have had Devon Hester as the best WR in the league with all his return yards despite him not even really being a WR. So rather than trying to balance it out, I just cut it out entirely.

Dangit, I knew I would have a shot if both my WRs got a TD and played well... turns out that Welker coming up a yard short on that early catch cost me the matchup with Masked.

Well, that and Santana Moss being complete crap against the Giants. Or rather, Jason Campbell being complete crap.

This could be 2 weeks in a row that I am over 140 points and lose.

I am going to be pissed unless the Dolphins can scrape 2 points together on D tonight. I am not optimistic.
